No Purple, Gold and Blue today
Sorry. The mothership hasn't called us, nor are they returning calls. Maybe they decided to get a head start ringing in 2009. At any rate, we apologize to the blogosphere and Forum Gold and Blue's Kurt Helin, who was kind enough to be our scheduled guest today.
None too thrilled,
AK

in case this works---repost:
Good Morning Charles....Good Morning Everyone...
well I give up, looks like no new thread today so here goes...
Congrats Indeed Outlaw---another Laker fan--HUZAH !
I think it's all of our responsibility to grow Laker Nation--I personally converted my wife from not being interested in basketball at all to being a purple bleeder like me---and I have made 4 kids (that I know of) that are all Laker fans as well..
My kids know that there is only one mixed marriage that will not only be not approved or sanctioned by me, and will result in casting out--and that's if one of them marry a frickin' Celtic fan---but I know none of them would as they hate the frickin' Celtics with the Neuvo Celtic hatred as described by our friend Fatty (great post by the way --with good augmentation from Jon K. as well)..
so not only is it our duty to breed Laker fans, but Celtic haters as well--so far I have 5 of both in my resume...
Condolences to Longtimelakerlover---I think Bronxlakerfan said it best in regards to the circle of life and the circle of Laker fans...
I would like to wish all of you a very Happy and prosperous New year---LIVE LONG AND PROSPER as some cool dude once said...
This blog is full of very cool people and I am glad to be a small part of it...
Bet you can't guess what is my best memory of Laker 2008 ville.....wait for it indeed....the aquisition of what noboy expected---the Spanish Inquistion---everything that has happened since is because of that fatefull day....
2009 will be another great Laker year prompting me to say once again....wait for it....
AS ALWAYS, AS EVER, YET ANOTHER GREAT DAY (AND SEASON) TO BE A LAKER FAN !!!
GO LAKERS !!!

NEW YEAR OBSERVATIONS
I don't know who the new beat writer is for the LATimes but Broderick Turner has added some much needed insight, perception and depth in covering the Lakers and specifically Kobe Bean Bryant this year. His last two articles were excellent because they took us inside the lair of the Mamba.

MAGIC AND KOBE AT HALFTIME
It was great to see the two Laker greats have a conversation and seemingly "get to know" each other. I love the way that Kobe (for the first time) challenge the talk that he has somehow "changed" his game especially during last year's MVP run ...as Magic suggested.
Kobe very smoothly suggested to Magic that it is much easier to make "good" players better. Magic laughed but he knew that was so true. The perception about Kobe was that he wasn't "making the players around him better"...........However, Kobe has known all along that his game has been very consistent the last 10 years(the numbers support this) and the Lakers FINALLY put "better players around him"
Way to set it straight Kobe!

Floyd,
'aquisition of what noboy expected---the Spanish Inquistion"
Nobody expects the Spanish Acquisition! Amongst our weaponry are such diverse elements as: fear, surprise, ruthless efficiency, an almost fanatical devotion to the Kobe, and nice white uniforms ...

Pfunk,
He used to write for the IE Press Enterprise. I always liked B Turner. Good insight.

I love Broderick Turner. Best signing/journalist they've acquired in like forever.
For once I don't have to suffer through laker hate when reading the newspaper.

Another meaning of Spanish Inquisition is the edict of King Phil & Queen Jeannie in getting rid of scrubs, dead scrubs that will burn their butts at the end of benches of other teams. Any unwarranted criticism of Phil and Kobe is heresy.

So are you guys coming to the parade in June? You may need plane tickets, as it's going to be in Boston. You're certainly invited though. It'll be the only way you guys see the O'Brien trophy up close. Happy New Year! Go Celtics!

Mr. Celtic Thong,
You too, are invited to our parades starting tomorrow at the Rose Parade. You can wear your favorite thong at the rose bowl with our 70 degree weather. Happy New Year to all lephrechauns.

Hahaha Edwin!
Dear Mr. Purple Thong,
The only way you know if Kobe wears a purple thong is if you stalk him and spy on him which means you're obsessed with him, which means you secretly love him. I.E., closet Laker fan. I knew it!!!
You must be feeling pretty tortured lately, what with our win over the cloverleafs on Christmas and their subsequent losses afterwards. So tortured you have to reveal your secret crush on Kobe and his purple underwear. Nice.

ajax - thanks so much for the link!! I was wanting to see what happened with that...!
Mr. Purple Thong - LTLL called you out - closet Kobe lover - closet Laker fan!! I'd like to add that the only way you know about the thong is also because you were obviously a closet reader of the best sports blog - the award winning LA Times Lakers Blog. Welcome to the light! Don't worry - we save room on the floats for our favorite trolls - but it's BYOT - bring your own thong.

longtimelakerlover,
Condolences for your dad. Thanks for sharing. Nothing in the world is as good as a father and son watching a Lakers game together. And it reminded me that I need to call my dad who is just about the same age right now. Happy New Year.
Tom

...thongs?
AK/BK, are you even regulating this? A ha! I knew you secretly enjoy cat fights about certain underwear of basketball superstars.
Um...Mr. Kobewearsapurplethong, surely you know it is murder to reveal your hatred of the Lakers on (of all places) a LAKER BLOG, right? Kobe may wear a purple thong, but you're really dumb. That is all.

Classic PHIL JACKSON and a quote regarding New Years resolutions in today's LA Time Article:
"I stay away from those," he said, smiling. "New Year's Eve is amateur night and resolutions are for fools."
Gotta love Phil.........lol

LongtimeLakerLover,

Be Blessed..

Okay now. SO I hate to keep bringing up trade scenarios, so why am I?? Well, per Hoopshype Raymond Felton (one of my favorites) is supposedly available (get outta here, what a shock!!) lol, no really. Though I don't think he would be that receptive to coming off the bench as he is a starter with Charlotte, perhaps he can be had and then convinced to do so in lieu of a potential championship...He would be a great pickup but once Jordan gets back to form, where would that leave him???? Nonetheless, Mitch is probably gonna chill on any moves because right now, the team is starting to find its stride so why buck it up?? But I thought I would get my two cents in about Raymond.
BTW, happy New Years to all..I had a great night.Went to church..Back in the day, I would've paid $65 or more cover charge just to be in one of the hot spots in the city (NY) and toasting Moet/Cristal/Friexenet champagne up in the club with a fly ass outfit on I just dropped a couple guaps on, crazy, I tell you! But I am older now, and its all good.......Besides, no hangover today.......gotta love it.
