Off to Cow Town with a to-do list
Every morning, it's important to accentuate the positive. The Lakers are 17-2, and have opened up a four-game lead over the Blazers and Chauncified Nuggets in the Western Conference. That's a pretty decent margin before hitting the quarter pole on the season. They're winning at a historically good rate measured against the standards of a franchise that wins at a historically good rate. This Trevor Ariza fellow is working out well.
So when the Lakers tip off tonight at Arco, where the Kings no longer win with regularity, against a still-limping Sacramento squad (Kevin Martin? Still out, says the Sacramento Bee.) there will be plenty of reasons to smile. On the other hand, the goal this season for LA is a championship, and with standards set high there's no choice but to mention the other stuff as well. The bench is struggling, the team periodically loses focus, many still question their toughness (an older link, but a good one). When these teams met at Staples on Nov. 23, Beno and the Bobby's (Udrih, Jackson, and Brown) spent so much time in the paint that their postgame shower required turpentine.
And, with Steve Nash and Shaq heading to town for a nationally televised game on Wednesday, there's always the danger of looking ahead. Such are the worries on a very good team operating with the understanding that very good isn't good enough.
In other news:
- From this moment on, Kobe Bryant has all his apples cut for him. You just can't be too careful, as Derrick Rose demonstrates.
- A very strange story about Stephon Marbury, some Europeans, Real Madrid, and a big ol' hoax.
- Amare Stoudemire isn't going anywhere.
- Dwight Howard's agent says Dwight Howard will be in this year's slam dunk contest. Incidentally, Howard, in his fifth season with the Magic, is still the youngest guy on the team.
- The Pistons are still trying to find themselves in a post-Chauncey world.
- They love LeBron's D in Cleveland.
- The Celtics aren't coasting, and neither should you.
- A vote of confidence for Mike Dunleavy!

Lets see if the Lakers can keep Beno Udrih from looking like Pistol Pete tonight.
Let's see if Odom looks like he should even suit up tonight.
Let's see if Farmar can have a good game on the road for once.
Will we see Defense tonight or was that just a mirage we saw earlier in the year.
Will we see J. Powell get some minutes tonight if BrainDead doesn't show up.
And will Bynum finally get some burn and close out the end of the 4th quarter or will PJ stick with LO to close?
And if he does go with LO I think this is proof he is senile.

Defense first. Offense from defense. Protect the paint. Quiet the cowbells with stellar play.

The Zombie spokesman said you converted and became a Zombie High Priest?
It was also rumored you were a Zombie all along. (Its always the one you least expect)
Is that really you? How did you escape from the Zombies?
If you really are a Zombie, is it true that human flesh tastes like chicken? Whats the best way to cook it? Is Cajun Style the best? Or plain with no seasoning? Just curious.

I'd like to see Pau and Drew dominate Brad Miller and Spencer Hawes tonight. We need to establish our frontcourt superiority early in games, esp on the road.
Our frontcourt has the potential to become better than the Vlade, C-Webb, Peja trio of the old Kings. It has to be better in order for us to win the championship.

Maloof Bros are currently in quandary. Las Vegas bubble is about to burst similar to auto manufacturing, their Sacramento Kings do not attract much crowd since the C-Webb & Co. left the cow town. California is also on the red. Watch out Lakers, these guys have nothing to lose, they are there to destroy dreams and make noise. Therefore, it is not a done deal in cow town place where the moos and boos will be noisy as it can be. Our babies get cranky and may go again into wild adventures like the Indiana game. If you lead one pt., take care of that lead all the way to 48th minute.
The game tonight is just equivalent of one game out of the 82, similar to Christmas day's game but our focus has been predestined to C- Day. We need an outlet to pour our frustration of the meltdown on one team but got to handle the rest of the business to get home court advantage.
Mamba24, on the Celtics bandwagon, I love the color green which means life and also A. C. Green, so please bring back the phrase that refers to Ainge's DNA nauseatic feeling.

more randon meanderings.....
let me preface this post with a couple of facts so as not to confuse or incur undeserved wrath etc...
1) I really like our current team and players---I know their individual strengths and weaknesses--it's cool to see a player accentuate his positives and overcome (however temporarily) his weaknesses---these guys (as have all Lakers past always have) seem like my extended family, and in fact I spend more time watching them than anyone outside of my immediate family etc.
2) I don't advocate trading anyone right now--with the exception of Luke and more specifically, his ridiculous and stiffeling contract. (I know I can't spell for sour owl crap)---is stiffeling spelled wrong ?
that being stated, there are a number of players around the league that I wouldn't mind becoming Lakers someday-
this list is not about who we may need, what the team balence would be, team chemistry etc---nor is a list of players that might be attainable anytime soon --it's simply a list of players that I think would look good in Purple and Gold ,as it were, and that I like watching play the greatest game ever invented... in alpha order, not preference...
Lamarcus Aldridge, Brandon Bass, Chris Bosh, Elton Brand, Caron Butler, Javaris Crittenton, Rudy Gay, Devin Harris, Dwight Howard, Andre Iguodala, Joe Johnson, Mike Miller, Paul Milsap, Emeka Okafor, Derrick Rose, Brandon Roy, Michael Redd, John Salmons, Al Thorton, Chris Wilcox
just did the first 20 that came to mind--probably am missing some names no doubt...
anyway if any of these players ever became Lakers I would welcome them as returning prodigal sons to say the least...

Well Macheen if Farmar only passed to Machine much more Macheen will probably start becoming Macheen again.

So if the Lakers have a big lead you want PJ to leave Bynum
on the floor for 5 more minutes and add more chances for him to
re-injure his knee. I guess it would help them run up the score,
but I'd prefer 5 point wins and 5 healthy starters all year.
