Jordan Farmar update: His meniscus and you
Just got word from Lakers PR that point guard Jordan Farmar, who suffered a torn meniscus in his left knee in the fourth quarter of Friday's loss in Miami, has had the diagnosis confirmed by not one, but two MDs- Lakers team doc Steve Lombardo and Dr. Byron Patterson. Both have recommended surgery. Farmar is currently weighing his options- I'm not exactly sure what they are, beyond "get surgery" and "don't get surgery"- and will have more to say on the issue once he makes a decision on how to proceed.
It's hard to say exactly how long Farmar would be out if he goes under the knife, when a better assessment of the damage can be made. The Lakers won't comment until any procedure is completed. A quick check of the net- Google "meniscus surgery nba"- leaves me the impression that surgery means weeks, up to eight perhaps, which could force the Lakers to fill Farmar's spot in the rotation.

Same injury that Gilbert Arenas had. His initial diagnosis was for 2-3 months.
Dude hasn't really played in 1.5 YEARS.
Time to lock up Jannero Pargo or trade for someone.
Changes ahead for the Lakers.

We want Pargo! We want Pargo!

Jordy has always stated the practice of Yoga has kept him injury free. So much for that theory.
For Ajax I am going to be positive for a change. I will take this as a blessing not a curse. Now I know there will be a trade. See there is a GOD!

Farmar's injury , though very unfortunate, could be the push for Lakers management to find an alternate point guard. One who can play defense FIRST, then worry about learning the triangle second.
Odom's lackluster play and his "all talk, no action" press releases might be the end of the line for him. The Lakers are jammed at the SF position. Ariza's game has been developing. Walton's contract might kill a potential trade... so that leaves Radmanovic as one of the tradeable assets.
A trade might just be the jolt this team needs in order to play smarter, better and with more effort and desire.

Dacsila,
Just in case you forgot about your previous posts:
"I hope they will postpone this year's Christmas Day. This is the day that the Celtics will massacre the underachieving "Paper" champs Lakers by 30 points."
"Will not watch any Laker games from now on, and will only resume if I hear a trade made by Kupchak."
"For the meantime Mamba24 please delete my name dacsila on your list. I am going on a 'indefinite leave' as a Laker fan. I don't cheer for the 'losers.'"
That's some great fan support there, Dac. You DESERVE to have your name removed from the roll call, and I hope that Mamba24 honors your wish.
Gotta take the bad with the good. Doesn't mean you have to like it, but you gotta take it. Otherwise, take your sorry ass somewhere else. Like the Suns blog.

Wow, in a contract year at that.
Sasha is going to have to step up now. Since he is the off guard for the Lakers.
Good luck to Farmar and Sasha.

EJK,
If you are able to pull off that trade of Prince and Max the blog will fire Mitch and you can have the GM job.
With Staples removing Oscar's statue from out front I am pretty sure we can get a gold statue of you to replace him.

Ruh roh. I gets this funny feelin' that either Bryant saves your sorry arses in Memhpis and the Lakers slide by-barely-in Memphis, or more likely it's three L's in a row...
I understand and agree with the Luke 'n Lamar talk here. The former shouldn't even be on a professional basketballl team and the latter couldn't pass a sixth grade GED test.
Plain and simple, the Lakers are an OK team. Nothing more...

Raymond Felton and Gerald Wallace would be a great pick up for this team if we cannot lure someone like Pargo back into the fold..Again, I don't know the workings of the numbers game but I do recall when Raymond was coming out of college, the Lakers loved his workout...

Just had surgery for my torn meniscus two weeks ago. The recovery time is between one and two months. Hope he doesn't have arthritis like I supposedly do. He should be full strength in no time with the right medical staff and constant physical therapy. My knee is still a little swollen though. Here's to a speedy recovery MR. Farmar

BD,
Yoga is great for protecting the body against muscle, ligament and tendon damage, but it's not as useful against cartiledge and bone damage, even though the improved sense of balance it facilitates offers some sense of protection against those sorts of injuries as well.
Nothing's perfect.

REPOST while the blog is on blizzards three previous threads. Reason why we need Pargo in this team.
Currently, Dynamo Moscow are No. 2 in the Eurobasket - Russia. Here are the statistics of Jennero Pargo for 2008.

SUMMARY
G MIN PTS 2FGP 3FGP FT RO RD RT AS PF BS ST
9 243 131 24-58 19-46 26-30 8 24 32 47 17 0 8
AVERAGE
9 27.0 14.6 41.4% 41.3% 86.7% 0.9 2.7 3.6 5.2 1.9 0.0 0.9
While Farmar is injured, the Lakers need Pargo immediately to jumpstart the PG of this team, he will be a good role model to the other PG's. He is averaging 14 pts., 5 assists and 86% FT shooting and 41% both in 2ptFG or 3ptFG. What more can you ask from a PG who will play for 20 minutes per game. His averaging 27minutes in Russia. He may leave the team b/c they are having some money problems during recessionary times. Whilein the Lakers bench, there is no recessionary times they get paid for seating in the bench with multiple years contracts.

Tough break for Farmar. He hasn't played well this season, and then this happens. I honestly don't think this means we have to get another PG. Sasha played PG in Europe, plus we've got Yue. Besides, the triangle doesn't require a trug PG anyway. Think Ron Harper, Steve Kerr, BJ Armstrong... Let's just use the vacancy to give the rest of the guys more PT.
As far as making a move for Lamar, I like Gerald Wallace and it seems to be a good move for both teams. However, Lamar is streaky and while he's not playing well now, when he's on, he's a better player than Gerald Wallace. He's clearly frustrated right now, but I like what I see in that I can tell that he really cares which wasn't always the case with him.
