Hope everyone got it out of their collective system

To those happy with new President-elect Barack Obama, congratulations. To those unhappy with new President-elect Barack Obama, better luck in 2012. And to those looking to post on Lakers Blog, please keep either opinion on the matter to yourself, because we're back to business as usual. Unless directly related to the topic at hand (and in most cases, it won't be), political discussions should either take place through email or on another, more appropriate blog.
Thanks,
AK

It's out of my system.
Lakers versus Clippers tonight!
My favorite non-playoff match-up of the season.
Lakers are going to clobber the Clippers. I wish I could say it would be close, but it won't. Clippers really need a win right now, but they're not going to get one. With Baron Davis, Marcus Camby, and Tim Thomas basically skipping training camp, the Clips aren't going to pull it together until probably their 10th game which, unfortunately, is probably going to ruin their chances of getting in the playoffs.
Urgh.
Go Clippers!
GO LAKERS!

LIFE AND BASKETBALL
Out with the old in with the new, If Obama can do it The Lakers can too.
No more can Impossible be said, This year Lakers stomp Celtics dead
Exhelodrvr be proud of the race that your guy ran
At the end McCain proved to be one Elle of a man
Life is like basketball, basketball is like life
Both full of drudgery and toil and tension and strife
But then every so often something wonderful comes your way
Like a man named Barack and a player named Kobe
Like a player named Magic who added excitement to the game
Like a cool feisty grandpa, straight-up Maverick John McCain
Some people like the Triangle, others like the run and gun
No mater the choice, they both get the job done
In the decades to come 2009 will hold 2 great memories
The start of a new Laker era and an Obama Presidency
The year that a nation closed ranks and faced adversity as one
The year a team named the Lakers played defense & a title won
Life and basketball are both the same
It’s not the winning that counts it’s how you played the game
McCain was like the old Pistons he did whatever to get a win
Obama was like The Lakers who won with class, again & again
But at the end of the day when the race was done & thru
They both showed class & grace that touched the hearts of me & you
So Barack Obama today we salute you for an outstanding Victory
In the future you will take the reins of an entire country
John McCain we salute you to, for you played with one hand tied
But you’re a soldier and a Patriot and at your concession speech I almost cried
Much Like the Lakers who shook Bostons hand even though in pain
You gave a classy speech cause you’re a classy man Senator John McCain
And so The Lakers played the role of John McCain Last year
This time they are Barack Obama NBA do I see fear.
Like Jeet Kune Do that adapts to whatever the opponent tries to do
The Lakers can play all styles so opponents it’s up to you
Do you want your but kicked fast or do you want it kicked slow
Does not matter cause it will get kicked didn’t your mama tell you so
So the election now is over and a Laker Dynasty now begins
Laker Blog it’s back to Blogin & counting the titles the Lakers win
*
No stirring speeches, for God’s sakes we’re playing our little brothers

In the change spirit can we give some love to Jordan Farmar? He is the most underappreciated player on team. Jordan has worked his way to become a great player who is among the top 10 point guards in the league.
Posted by: Todd | November 05, 2008 at 08:21 AM
This one game per week is totally weak. Totally, totally, totally unsatisfying.
My lord, where's the action?
A guy can only take so much.
And I didn't like seeing the Celtics beat the Rockets in Houston. They look very, very good. And, I'll say this now. Rondo is one of the top 5 PG's in the NBA, period; And Perkins might be the best defensive center in the NBA. Better than Howard, better than Yao, better than Bynum or Chandler or Camby.
His denying of position in the post is just superior to other centers in the NBA.
Ugg.
Until we can beat this team they have to be the favorites, not our Lakers.
Wes

At last we have a president that shoots hoop!
Better than the usual old white guys that just play golf.
Maybe he'll appoint Bill Bradley to some post.
Maybe Dennis Rodman could be Secretary of Defense (lol)
On a personal note, I'm traveling to LA on business tomorrow and have fourth row tickets to the Rockets game Sunday. Can't wait to see this year's CHAMPIONSHIP team up close!

Something very wrong happened last night and it wasn't the new prez thing. It was the refs letting garnet set moving pic after moving pic. I honestly felt bad for Ming and all the guards that literally kept getting hit by garnetts bows as they tried to get around him.

Todd,
Jordan Farmar one of the top 10 point guards in the league? I don't think so. Jordan is becoming better and better but I wouldn't rate him amongst the league's best.
List of PG's who is be better than JF:
1) CP3
2) D-Will
3) Baron Davis
4) Steve Nash
5) Allen Iverson
6) Tony Parker
7) Gilbert Arenas
8) Chauncey Billups
9) Mike Bibby
10) Andre Miller

Magia32,
Garnett has been setting moving picks for years now. Sucks but it's the truth.
Posted by: Xodus | November 05, 2008 at 09:00 AM
Todd,
Farmar has been great, but you dont think you overstated it just a little when you said he's a top 10 pg?
in no particular order
chris paul
deron williams
steve nash
jason kidd
jose calderon
tony parker
chauncey billups
baron davis
allen iverson
gilbert arenas
and those are ALL far and away WAY better than farmar, i love him, and he's improving greatly every year, but c'mon.

i wouldn't say Farmar is top 10 in the L just yet...
maybe top 20.
there's a reason why Fish is still the starter.
Posted by: sixonezero | November 05, 2008 at 09:17 AM
Todd, top 10? Jordan is wonderful in our system and will become great, but he's not even making a great enough case to start over Fisher right now.
I fear that he's still going to have decidedly off nights every once in awhile, but his overall averages will still look good in spite of that.
Posted by: #4 | November 05, 2008 at 09:22 AM
Epic roll call for an epic day. I couldn't be happier, and there's FINALLY a Lakers game tonight. Yes! The Clippers are going to be hungry for a win. It's up to the Lakers to match their intensity. And please, boys, take care of the ball.

let's wait until Jordan Farmar consistently plays around 35 mins per game and produces as a starter.... then we can start talking top 10.
Posted by: sixonezero | November 05, 2008 at 09:36 AM
All right, since we're ganging up on Larry, I better get a swing in too.
Uhhh, Mr. Larry, Mamba 24, I used to be in the top 10 of the roll call but now I seem to have slipped to, what, mid 50's?
Hmmm. Maybe I need liposuction.

blitz and greek dude - you make good points with your lists but then again, it doesn't necessarily follow that all of those excellent ball handlers would fit with our system, know what i mean? some of them just have to be the man. it seems to me that todd was making a more general point... just showing some love for farmar and whether he's top ten or top twenty, the guy's a gym rat and a competitor and a real good compliment to d-fish.

Hey L-Fans, tonight's game should be another romp as long as we're not rusty from chillin too long, but I'm geeked for the following six pack of Houston, Dallas, NO, Detroit, Chicago, and PHX. Lots of top teams and a good test to see where we are on the road against stiff competition. Love to see 10-0 baby!

you allow one piece of political disinformation to be posted twice and then don't post my response. i agree this isn't a political blog, but I was not being blatantly political only responding to a political post that was blatantly false
Posted by: giantsquid | November 05, 2008 at 10:30 AM
Giant Squid,
We haven't allowed one post of a political nature to go through starting today. I'm sorry if that leaves someone else theoretically getting "the last word," but BK and I can't concern ourselves with that. If we try to allow everyone their "fair" response, it never ends.
Like we said, feel free to pick up the conversation where it left off via email. BK and I are happy to help coordinate that. Or in a more appropriate forum, like a political blog. But as far as this blog goes, the buck has to stop at some point. It stopped today, without exceptions.
I hope you understand.
