Kobe braces for Euro team offer

October 21, 2008 |  9:17 am

Victory Granted, I think the odds of Kobe Bryant joining Barcelona's Catalan Club are about as remote as him hooking up with Olympiakos.  But should the former happen, Lakers fans can at least take comfort knowing his departure was neither about the money nor any dissatisfaction with the purple and gold.  It's simply about one man's love for football (or as Americans call it, "that sport I don't watch").

For the benefit of the hyperventilating, the article notes that Kobe was kidding.  But I already anticipate nervous Nellies wigging out every time he kicks around a basketball like Pele during the stoppage of play.  And not to egg those people on, but if Kobe did want to best Michael Jordan on every level, that would include more success in a second sport than MJ had with baseball.

I'm just saying.

T-minus 1 WEEK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ready for lift-off!!

Go Lakers!!

Hi guys
Lot of nice nicknames but my favorite so far:
1- 707 (like 007)
2- Double trouble

How about the obvious nickname?

Salt and Peppa!

DON'T GET THEM IN YO EYE OR U GON' CRY!

YEAH!

Lurch and Herman

Wes

How about a reference instead of Nick Names

The Clock Towers

The O-zone

The Pyramids

Skyscrapers

Community At Large

No Fly Zone

In the end, I still like:

The Tree's

well then how about...

Pretty Boy and the Caveman

The Sock and the Homeless Dude

The Beast and The Ripper

GQ and the Scary Scraggly Looking Dude

The Brute and The Pansy

Homegrown and Imported

The Southland Bangers

Team Taco - for "we want Tacos"

Plop, plop, fizz, fizz oh what a relief it is

Riggs and Murtaugh...

Oh, there's more, much more... LOL!

Mannnnnnnnnn.

Salt and Peppa. Now why didn't I think of that!

On the other hand... The name was kinda already used by a female rap group. Don't know if I want to "push it" and use it on our guys.....

Push it real good.... Man that brings back some memories. LOL

Pau and Andrew:

- Soft Rock - One's soft, the other's a rock.
- The Ambiguously Gaysol/Bynum Duo
- El Cid and The Kid

Some good new ones...

So far my favorites I've seen overall are:

trees - Sequoias, Redwoods, or even the Tall Trees

mountains - Sierras or Twin Peaks

what they do - SWAT Team

general height ref - 7 & 7

The Skyscrapers is too close to the Twin Towers, but I
like it otherwise.

BTW, if we choose a group noun instead of X & Y (which
indicates two players), it could be expanded to include
Mihm/Odom/MBenga situationally.

I agree with LTLF on the use of skyscrapper b/c the Lakers are deep this year w/ several bigs not only two. Do you call the bldgs. in Manhattan twin peaks. Lakers is like Mt. Everest this year with several peaks to climb and topmost peak is still named Kobe. We have several Cathedral of Rocks that starts from Bynum, Gasol, Mihm, Odom, Mbenga, Radmanovic and Powell. You just can't isolate the two and ignore the others. Therefore, Lakers skyscrappers or Lakers Sequioas refers to all our bigs. Having tall players is an edge but not a guarantee for Championship, defense from the unexpected like Vlad, Mihm, Luke, Farmar and hopefully Sun Yue could catch the fever, not mono... will seal victories like the past two games.

Jon K,

Speaking of afro on Bynum, did you see the new hairdo of Sasha? no haircut since start of '08 till Lakers wins the Championship.

How about "Two Joints?" They could play the Toy's hit when they introduce Drew and Pau before games. LOL.

Tom

how about SKY KINGS?

Tom

Two Sevens?

Tom

I'm lovin' 7&7. Short, descriptive, smooth......

Good Morning Fam,

How about

"The A-Hole Agent's Client and Shouldve played like it was for Spain."

or

the "Luxury Tax Bigs."

Nothing personal against Charles but doesn't A-Hole just substituting the - for ss? Double standard and moving target. Very hypocritical.
