The good marks keep coming
He got one from us for the NBA season, now Kobe Bryant gets one for his showing in Beijing from David Friedman at 20 Second Timeout. I'm talking about a straight "A."

Solid praise, well-deserved. The Olympics were, in total, a great showing on and off the court for Kobe. He was a strong presence, representing himself, USA Basketball and the Lakers with a great deal of class.

I say let the KLFs (Kobe Loving Fanboys) and the KHFs (Kobe Hating Fanboys) do battle with each other whilst the rest of us talk basketball. AK/BK - Is there a way to create duplicate entries for every article you post? One for the Homers and Haters and the other for the real basketball fans?
It's amazing that people can't be in the middle. Kobe either has to be the savior or the cancer. What I actually saw was a guy who played lock-down defense but also gambled enough to hang his teammates out to dry a number of times. What I actually saw was a guy who came up clutch offensively when the game was on the line but also took some really ill-advised shots that led to easy buckets for the opposition. Is it a pride thing that makes it impossible for people to see both sides?
I get that people "exist" on the internet oftentimes for the sole purpose of getting to be a homer or a hater. It fulfills some weird need to teach the other side a lesson. Agents of chaos versus protectors of the city. Enjoy your personnas.
I think Bynum needs to update his site more. How about some videos of what his life is like right now while he's training?

The greatness of Kobe cannot be denied. It shone through as bright as GOLD!
Props also to LBJ and DWade who played well for Team USA. I have always maintained that DWade is a good player that he doesn't need to be bailed out by the NBA refs. I have seen him throw his body against opposing players in the Olympics only to get a no-call. The reason why is because opponents would establish defensive position to stop his drive without hacking. IMHO I think this is the right call in this situation when the offensive player initiates the contact. Something for the NBA to think about cuz bailing out star players turn off some fans and is also a disservice to the player, who is already good to begin with.

Here we go again. Umm riddle me this mr ultimate basketball fan? Are you going to go after larry legend for recently calling Kobe the best baller currently and closet thing we got to mj? His peers, coaches and hall of famers respect his game. So why then are you picking on laker fans for proudly beating our chests, for wanting to scream out loud he's rocking our colors, he bleeds purple and gold?
Sit in the middle all you want, but dont come on hurr and start throwing condescending remarks on a blog that's runs on purple and gold fans. Go find an nba generic blog if you want to be impartial but if you are going to come on hurr on lakers blog dont get mad at us for being so home team biased.
Lastly there's nothing wrong with saying kobe takes ill advised shots. I said it on here in my ramblings to kobebryantblitz that I wished our boy would invest more time and effort in punishing the oppossing team more often with his extremely deadly mid range game instead of taking so many 3pt shots, yes he can make them but he's got better weapons to attack with. So ain't nothing wrong with pointing fault in his game.
What ticks d F out of fans like me though is if you make it sound like the cons outweigh the pros. If you make it sound like oh cuz of those ill advised shots we're better off without him. If you make it sound like inspite of those ill advised shots the likes of mj, larry, and magic still consider him the best the game has now. Kudos to lebron, wade etc for doing their thing in the olympics, but please dont come on hear screaming they had a better game than kobe in the olympics, cuz even if that's the case that aint gonna make headlines on this blog. Dont get me wrong we're ok with an occassional post about their game but in general we could care less. Cuz those dudes aint rocking purple and gold.
So be easy lakers_sth, kobe fans are laker fans. And this blog runs on the enthusiasm of laker fans. So yeah we see both sides dawg, we're just not petty enough to gripe about the little things, we'll let the haters do that.

We're brow beating poor BUTLER and LGCs, these guys don't need our fiery opinion, they need to be listened to and coddled because, in the words of Sigmund Freud, "they were denied their mother's breast as children"
Now they look for that missing attention and love out here, on Laker Blog. We should be honored that such wounded, pain filled folk reach out to intelligent, warm, people like us. So here goes, here's a little help for the Trolls.
BUTLER: I know the color scheme of the Phoenix Suns unis has a slimming effect on Shaq, but seriously, he's done as far as having any sort of major impact on an NBA game. He can't jump, can't shoot farther than 4-5 feet away from the hoop and he's rooted to the ground on defense. Kwame 'Hands' Brown could take Shaq at this stage in their careers. It saddens me to see a great Laker fade into mediocrity, especially one that helped our franchise win 3 chamionships, but that Shaq is gone now. He left the year he stated that he would heal on 'company time'. Sorry Sun's fans, get ready for a mediocore year, hopefully you get to the playoffs.
LGCs: I've posted here a few times about your closeted love for all things purple and gold. But now it seems that you somehow believe the hype surrounding the Celtics. Here's my prediction regarding this flash in the pan. Like a spring flower in summer, they will wilt next season because of the HUGE target on their back, which only got bigger when Paul 'I Don't Know What I'm Talking About' Pierce exclaimed that he's the greatest. I can only assume that a hip hop album will be in his immediate future. That team will be lucky to finish in one of the top four spots. I don't see Kendrick Perkins or Rajon Rondo getting much better than they played last year and the Celtics will be absent the many veteran voices that kept that team playing as a unit. Just wait until the All Star break when Eddie House whines about minutes and looks.
But enough helping, let's just be thankful that there are men in this world like Kobe Bryant, who can weather the storms of life (some sefl created) and not cast blame about like a fly fisherman in a slow moving stream. Let's be thankful that he helped bring Olympic Gold back to USA basketball. Most of all, we should be thankful that the Lakers are going to come out hungry for the best record in basketball.

Hmm I see you didn't do the homework i asked u to ... trust me this is like AA, becoming a true celtic fan will give you joy ... anyway I've got another idea, since you refuse to readup on your celtic history and attack butler for attacking the celtic legacy how about we play on your hate for kobe perharps you'll learn something about the celtics that way ... PP isn't overrated right? Can you tell us which high school and college he played for and what career stats he set there? ... also what are KGs high school stats? ... now compare that with young kobe's stats. dont worry I'm sure u'll find something to hate on, the aim really is to motivate you to learn more about pierce (besides the fact he's finals mvp) and KG (besides the fact he plays for the celtics) ... for extra credit can you tell us the best year statistics wise each of the big 3 has had in the nba ( once again you can compare with kobe's stats to motivate you ) ...
Bottom line I'd like to help you elevate the level of intelligence in your conversation ... the hope being maybe you'll be able to add more to the blog besides "buttox", e.g. I'm looking for statements like did yo know pierce averaged xyz assists in his best year compare that with ball hog kobe in blah ... did you know PFs statistically are worse than guards in abc category, yet garnett posted better numbers than kobe in so and so year ... like really dude show us you know something about basketball and about the celtics ...

Sherrif, to be honest, I don't read Butler's writeups.
I "C" what you're trying to do and I'm not a big stats buff. The only stat I care about is championships. All the rest is just "noise" to block out what lies underneth.
But to humor you, Pierce went to Kansas, picked 10th overall in the 1998 draft, 6-time all star and led the Celtics through 2 transitionary periods leading the team to 2 appearances in East Finals and one NBA Final winning "Finals MVP" honors.
As a product of Inglehood high school, Pierce grew up watching the Fakers.

The the Olympics are just a political sham. Kobe accomplished nothing. The Celtics showed what Kobe is really about and he still has not won an NBA championship without Shaq. Shaq has won without Kobe and it was Shaq who was the MVP all 3 times the Lakers won the NBA finals, not Kobe.
