Hows everyone been...Man I cant wait for the NBA season to start for our lakers. Alot of questions will be answer. Can Lamar Odom really become a consistent long range shooter and a quicker laterial on ball defender? Can Bynum return to form or be even better than he was before? (They say hes gotten bigger 300 pounds of legit muscle.) Can Farmer. Ariza and Vujajic continue to bring the constant energy we need off the bench.. Can Luke Walton get his confidence back and get healthy.

And can Kobe FINALLY GET SOME REST AND GET THAT SURGERY ON HIS SHOOTING HAND PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

green weenie from beanie..

kobe got the gold....show some respect...for your country fooooooollll

dont be the green weenie from the beanie.......

Looks like someone is saving up for a 200k rock/mountain for his brother's pool.

Paul Lee how you been man? Long time no post. Don't worry it's only
64 days to the regular season. LOL! Which does not seem like enough time for
Kobe to get that hand taken care of and get some rest. Winning the
Gold Medal is good and all but I would have prefered he took care of his finger
and got some rest.

Larry(Mamba24)

Mike T,

It wasn't the majority of the blog asking for you to come back. That post was directed mainly to Edwin Gueco, Jon K and LakerTom who were asking for you to come back. You're using the same type of flawed logic that makes you say things like Phil Jackson was source that leaked stuff to Heisler last summer and that Kwame Brown was the one who demanded to be traded from LA. The word "people" is plural, as in more than one person. The word "people" does not mean a majority. So when I say "people were begging you to come back," I mean more than one person, not a majority or anything close to it.

There were mass celebrations the day you announced you'd be leaving the blog. Most of us hoped you'd follow your boy to Memphis. But I guess you realized they only wanted him for his expiring contract not to bring a "defensive philosophy."

A grand for a jersey?

No Thanks.

Paul Lee,

Where did you hear that Bynum was pushing 300 pounds now?

laker32,

I think the Troll is probably a Canadian. It's the only thing that makes sense.

GO USA!

GO LAKERS!

Let's go C's!,

I hope you enjoyed the Olympics and Team USA's rise to the top just as I did (or should I say, "Top of the World"). I would say that the DEFENSE rests with Kobe. You may add CLUTCH performer to that as well. Like KG once said, "Anything's Possible!!!!" So is GREATNESS homey, so is GREATNESS! KB24 GREATNESS that is! What selfishness? All I saw was GREATNESS at its best when the PRESSURE was on. Life is great! PASS it on just like KB24 did himself.

BTW, consider DWade and LBJ a MAJOR threat to a Celtics repeat in the EC this upcoming season. They too showed their GREATNESS in the face of adversity finishing up what your boy PP could not do years ago, 2002 to be exact. If LBJ had PP's help, he would have had a title to his name already WAY before your boy. DWade is just getting started. BEWARE!

Furthermore, after watching Team USA win it all, I truly believe that each player who experienced the joy PERSONALLY will bring an extra gear of MOTIVATION to their respective NBA teams for the upcoming season. This will NOT be GOOD for the Celtics at all. NOT GOOD! The Celts had a great run this past year without question. However, they have become too SATISFIED.

Now let's make the OBVIOUS clear based on that notion. KG, RA and PP resting on their "backside" all summer shouldn't sit well with Celtic fans. Why you may ask? It's hard to remain HUNGRY especially when you continue to feed your EGO too much! We shall see...we shall see... It's TOUGH to REPEAT!

I have a VERY important question for you to think about and answer INTELLIGENTLY: NEWSFLASH! What has caused Paul Pierce to suddenly become COLOR BLIND the past few days? Think CAREFULLY about this one...

If you could not find the OBVIOUS answer, I'll give it to you straight and narrow. READY? It was PP SEEING Kobe wear his Olympic GOLD Medal proudly without the aid and drama of a WHEELCHAIR named FAKEE PAULA. A funny moment to witness for sure......

Face it homey! Kobe is the best player on the planet at this time. May I REMIND you that your PP recently said that he was one of the top 25 players to EVER play in the NBA on both national TV and radio LIVE. That, my dear friend, came from the TRUTH himself. Also, former Celtic great Larry Bird has recently spoken highly of KB24 nationally as well. Now that's a REVELATION! LGC's, it's about time for you to SERIOUSLY change your PERSPECTIVE on our beloved Laker homey! Surrender to your ENVY and embrace REALITY before it's too late.

You see, your comparisons between PP and KB24 have NEVER had any factual WEIGHT to begin with. The only WEIGHT that has mattered is in KB24's trophy case. It is the amount of GOLD he has displayed in it: 3 NBA RINGS and now a new OLYMPIC GOLD MEDAL. We ALL know what PP has in his case at this time. Right? Like I said before, NO contest based on the current state or REALITY of things. It IS what it IS! STOP punishing yourself....PLEASE!

BTW, Kobe's pinkie is doing just FINE based on a mysterious CERTIFIED Dr.'s EXCUSE. After all, that's what YOU REALLY want to believe and hear in order to justify your ever increasing weak arguments on this blog. GREATNESS never LIES about INJURIES. On your end, this BELIEF would make PP's WHEELCHAIR all the more irrelevant wouldn't it? KB24 will have surgery on it in two weeks (as he will enjoy the GOLD Medal with his USA TEAMMATES throughout the US up till that time). If he has it earlier, even BETTER! Either way, book it happening soon homey! OLYMPIC GOLD is GREAT!

Laker and USA pride through adversity baby! Peace!

Blitz,

"there is no way that Pip was better than Jordan at defense. Jordan has 9 All Defensive First Team not to mention. Plus Jordan won defensive player of the year. Pippen on the other hand has only 8 All Defensive First Team. Pippen though was the quarterback of the Bulls defense.

Though I do give you credit. Pippen was very underrated during his time as a Bull even though Jordan was the better player individually"

Dude I love Jordan, he my boy and he a big reason of how I came to discover Kobe. But as someone that grew up in chitown I think one of the biggest tragedies of Pippen's career is Jordan. Pippen was a heck of a player but if many fans had to vote he wouldn't make it into the top 50 (thankfully the nba was smart enough to put him there). As far as I'm concerned Scottie Pippen is the greatest small forward to ever play the game of basketball, yeah larry you didn't come close and his offense was not far from yours. My man pip carried the bulls to 55 wins in Jordan's absence, almost single handedly put us in the east finals in a series that went 7. And dude 55 wins aint easy in the nba. Frankly speaking if Jordan never came back I still believe Pippen would have led that team to another championship based on what he did in his first year without Jordan.

Also Pippen's story in a way is Kobe's story. And by that I'm talking about the phil jackson angle. PJ had pippen do most of the ball handling so Jordan could be freed up to wreak havoc on the offense, PJ had pippen do most of the help defense again so Jordan only had to roam on defense. And as challenging a task as that was he excelled at it. I remember jerry sloan complaining the 2nd time we met the Jazz and pip shut down stockton in one of the games, sloan was like i dont know what pippen is doing but it must be illegal, he's not only shutting down my hall of fame pg but he's like guarding 3 other people in the process as well. And this is why Kobe's such a Fing stud, cuz PJ has always asked him to do all d stuff he had pippen do, #24 does it and still finds the time to be our Jordan as well because of his killer instinct. Really dude if we had a pippen, imagine how deadly kobe would look on defense if he didn't have to help so much. If the coach told him just shut down bowen, pippens got ginobli. When the ball gets pressured, kobe just go spot up on the wing, pippens got the back court. Pippen allowed Jordan to be great, so dont come back hurr telling me his defense was not on par with Jordan's, it might not have been as sexy but dude is right up thurr. The one thing Jordan had that pippen didn't was he was definately a better offensive player and his drive/killer instinct was maniacal compared to pippens, but please dont tell me the real #33 was a notch below #23 when it came to defense.

And oh lastly you throwing awards in my face is like claiming nash is a better player than kobe because nash has 2 mvps. Boy please.

If I had a grand, I'd give it to you quicc BK. I love jerseys more than food.

[repost from the last thread, just in case you missed em]

Okay, here's some links to the Sun Yue highlights (and lowlights)
reels:

http://tinyurl.com/5beg5r

http://tinyurl.com/66kaem

http://tinyurl.com/5mmrao

Sorry if the quality is a little choppy, but it's the best I could
do and make it small enough to be reasonably sized for the
web. If you're not sure who Sun Yue is, look for the guy
with the red armband on his right arm - I think he's the only
guy who played for China and wore an armband (like Kobe
sometimes wears).

Note that these aren't slam-dunks and spectacular juke and
jive moves to get to the hoop. But I don't think that's what
the Lakers would expect out of Sun Yue next season. What
they would expect are things like an ability to bring the ball
up the court against pressure without turning it over, seeing
the open man on offense and passing to him, being able to
pass the ball into the post, hitting set shots from 3, and a
little bit of ability to drive and shoot or dish.

So that's what you'll see mostly on these reels -- consistent
basic skills, with a little bit of flash here and there. And a
nice block on Dwight Howard.

As I mentioned before, I also included some lowlights to
balance things out a little - Sun Yue didn't have many real
stooopid plays, but he had a few and I showed them here.

enjoy.

Najja-

Well, don't give it to me, I'm not the one who is selling the jersey... (haha).

Good morning Mamba24, JonK, X, Cali - and Laker CRUE!!

Wow!! A gold for Team USA!! I loved the Olympic b-ball games, but I have to say the gold medal game was something else. That had to be one of the worst USA played - especially defensively. They just didn't look like they could stop Spain at all. However, a few good things came out of it (besides the gold).
1. If anyone ever tries to talk trash about Kobe again - about how he's a prima donna or whatever - just point to the 4th quarter when he took that team on his back & rode them to the gold. That was his defining moment for me. He proved to all the haters (and all his fans) that he is for a fact the best player in the world. Without him NO WAY does USA win the gold. No question.
2. Kobe can do without Shaq. Ask the Big No-Medal how Kobe's gold tastes.
3. If Pau Gasol can play with anywhere near the intensity he had during most of that game, Lakers are looking REAL good this season.

Where are we now - only 40 something days to preseason??? Tooooo loooonnnnngggg to wait!!

GO LAKERS!

Paul Lee,

"Can Bynum return to form or be even better than he was before? (They say hes gotten bigger 300 pounds of legit muscle.)"

Who are this mysterious "THEY"?

Is this the same "They" that says Sasha is daily shooting 100 nothing-but-net halfcourt shots while blindfolded?

Or is it the same "They" that says Lamar Odom has MASTERED the running skyhook during this offseason?

Or could it be the same "They" that says Trevor Ariza can now effortlessly dunk from the THREE-POINT LINE after a hard working offseason?

Or perhaps the same "They" that says Vladimir Radmonovich has learned to play defense like a cross between Bruce Bowen and the X-Men's Wolverine... but better?

Or maybe the "They" that notes how Chris Mihm after batheing daily in radioactive bathes of Dit Da Jow has not only complete repaired his ankle, but has gained a five foot standing vertical jump, insect-fast reflexes, and a skeletal density such that he now punches through cinderblock walls for fun? Was it those guys?

I'm just wondering.

GO LAKERS!

Good morning Lakers faithful!

Its a good day to be a Lakers Fan and good day to rehash old arguments as Edwin said.

Speaking of rumors.....

I hear Bynum is firing his agent and replacing him with Laker Tom. Who else could get him more money?

And......

To counter that, Mitch is hiring Long Time Laker Fan as his negotiator and consultant in the deal.

In the ultimate reality show Fox Sports will be televising the negotiations on a delayed basis to allow for appropriate censoring. Fans will vote on how much Andrew gets in the end.

Special guest panel will evaluate the discussion, lead by Mike T. Mamba24 dressed in his Speedo will do exercises to keep the crowd entertained during down time to inspired upbeat music by Charles.

Its just a rumor......but stranger things have happened you know.

Paul Lee,

Hey man, how are you? Will you just post during game thread or will join our silly discussion of anything goes including the return of our favorite prodigal son? Are you buying that Kobe's jersey for 995? Well I admire the player but I won't shell out money to add more to his millions. I think his Chinese fans would do the same, the most they will do is reproduce that jersey for a buck!

Xodus,

Mike T is our buddy here in the blog as well as an antagonizing character that could mess up your day if you let him get him into your system. I believe Jon K said it best, why bother to reform a mischievous brother? If he does not mind your academic discipline, don't mind his own reasoning, he has a world of his own. In my case, I don't absorb everything what is being said, I cherry pick what I like and discard the others, just like shopping in a garage sale. lol! You have been around in the blog for a while now, don't be carried by all the emotions and speculations here, it's just an entertainment, once in a while a mosaic passion of our Lakers. Being a journalist in school, this is a good platform to hone your skills in communication w/ the real world. Believe me, as you move farther in that career, you will encounter a lot of Mike T's or even worse, so roll w/ the punches and manage crisis by being a contrarian rather than zeroing in the flawed logic. how about showing love, that's his suggestion and like us to believe, embrace his Kwame's logic, anyway Kwam is the problem of the Pistons so why bother while we just move on. My deceased Dad used to tell me: if life plays you with a joke, then you should also reciprocate it with another joke. LOL!

Xodus....

Hey bro. How you been?

I saw the article on hoops world. I believe it was Eric Pincus or travis heath I'll try to search for the article and get u the link bro. It was about a week ago. They said Bynum is really working hard in Atlanta right now with his personal training. Thats really good news and the knee isnt swelling anymore. Also we havent heard much from Lamar Odom which is a good thing this is really the 1st summer in a long time that something distracting hasnt happened to the guy. Remember last year the trade rumors, the year before his Sons passing, the year before injuries. Stay Focus LO we need you to get better this year

Mike T.

Don't let the homepage hit you in the @ss on your way out.

Good riddance to stone hands, and sexy calves.

Wow.....

Just a couple of questions...

Its an authentic jersey but I didn't read anything to say it was a game worn jersey (I might have missed it though)

So can't I order one of those from like Nike.com or the NBA online store for like 200 bucks.

Then all thats left is to stake out the El Segundo Traning facility and have Kobe sign it while some one records it on their iPhone or some thing?

I'm just sayin'......

"Not just Famous but In-Famous"

BK,

Wow it's almost like printing money. One signature is worth like 1000 bucks? I mean it is cuz I'd get it if I had d dough but it's like I couldn't even pay someone to have my signature on their wall.

Morning Everybody!

Just wanted the fam to have a great day and don't rush to pick up those $1000 Jerseys.

Special shout for you all!

Edwin,

Mike t. is an insufferable maniac. Not a Lakers fan.

Special guest panel will evaluate the discussion, lead by Mike T. Mamba24 dressed in his Speedo will do exercises to keep the crowd entertained during down time to inspired upbeat music by Charles. Its just a rumor......but stranger things have happened you know.

D@MNIT FATTY! You didn't clear that press release with
my press agent Laker Tom! Lol! And by the way I'll also be raffling off my speedo along with Kobe's jersey. LOL!

Larry(Mamba24)

Mamba24,

Southside by cormiskey park ... then I did a 4 year stint in new york ... and moved back to chitown this summer.

By the way how ya know I couldn't be from da northside, what u trying to call me ghetto? Jus cuz da people love ya dont mean u're exempt from police brutality

lol@ Jon K.

I'll try to find the article again bro. I'm only going by what I read and hoopsworld.com is a pretty good site when it comes to the Lakers because Eric Pincus is close to Laker insiders and Joe Macdonald on AM 570 and we know they get laker information first (besides AK/BK) of course lol

R.I.P Kevin Duckworth..

I remember when that Blazer team with Jerome Kersey, Terry Porter, Cliff Robinson, Clyde Drexler and Kevin Duckworth used to give our lakers fits because they were so fast.

It took awhile over there but this new balzer team looks exciting also. Man cant wait for the season

Fatty's Humor is back. Haha!

Aside from the rumors you mentioned, what is this trading of Odom going as mentioned by LTLF? Here we go again, another round of debate over a wild speculation, a rumor from a hearsay that was developed by another journalist wishing to fish some readers.

I would buy Fatty's rumor anytime because it rhymes with humor.

Xodus/Paul Lee,

http://tinyurl.com/6e3pbj

"Right now, Bynum is healthy and is bigger than he was before, in a good way. He is nearly 300 pounds of muscle, and will look to play center along side Pau Gasol next season."

Not sure how trustworthy the source is though.

Paul Lee-

I like what you have pointed out regarding LO. Its very refreshing to not have negative news surrounding Lamar (except for the little trade rumors about Artest). What worries me is what he's doing right now. I hope Lamar is somewhere in a gym everyday working hard on his game. However, something tells me he is juggling workouts with all his business ventures. I really like all his business ventures and support them, I just don't want them to get in the way of working out. I'm assuming LO is about 75% workout with 25% business ventures, which is fine by me. We just won't know how hard he worked this offseason until Oct hits. I just hope Lamar can play consistently start to finish while giving us some of the extra business stuff because its fun.

Lamar = Laker for Life

GO LAKERS

Edwin...

I'm a Kobe fan but I cant afford 1000 dollar jersey right now lol

Taliq,

It's arguable whether or not Jordan or Pippen was the better defender. They were both all-time great defenders and we should leave it at that.

I keep reading/hearing rumors of a proposed Lamar for Tayshaun Prince deal.
Has anyone else heard this?? Any facts connected to it? Or, probably just another August/bored rumor.

Any info appreciated.

Paul Lee,

Thanks for the heads up. I'll try to look for the article.

Edwin,

I guess I'll keep that in mind. I try to ignore his posts as much as possible, but it gets tough. Man does this blog need a block feature.

Mamba24,

Morning, man!

Paul, if that news on Socks is true that he's approaching 300 lbs, he should think twice that he's mortal like anyone at age 20. Kevin Duckworth, a 7footer from the Blazers died at early age of 44, may his soul rest in peace. That is a wake up call for young folks, what you do or take as a diet in early life will haunt you in the next decades.

Let's go L:

My buddy. My mate.

I will give your boi his proper respects.

Kobe won championships being #2 to Shack.

Kobe won Olympic gold being #2 to Lebron and Wade.

Much respect. The self-proclaimed "Dobermamba" is great, as long as he's #2.

ahaahahahahahahaha

Team USA has done a great service to our country.

Lebron, Wade, Howard did a fantastic job playing as a unit and brining home the gold to where it belongs.

>>>Ask the Big No-Medal how Kobe's gold tastes.

Uhhh. Might want to check your facts there. Shaq won gold
in 1996 in Atlanta.

>>>Who are this mysterious "THEY"?

Oh hell, I don't want any part of that deal. I don't have enough
mitichlorians in my body to play contract negotiations with the
big boys.

If anyone is really seriously considering the Kobe shirt for $995. I have a Lakers Championship Leather Jacket I might be able to part with for $7,500.

Okay, so you people (Larry F, John Vallefuoco) who keep saying
you've heard rumors that Lamar is going to be traded...

Where specifically did you hear these rumors? I read all the
common web sites, some of which are of limited credibility &
some of which are very reliable, and I haven't seen a peep
in any of them.

Don't you mean to say "I just started a rumor that Lamar is going
to be traded for..."

By the way how ya know I couldn't be from da northside, what u trying to call me
ghetto? Jus cuz da people love ya dont mean u're exempt from police brutality

Now calm down sheriff, I was framed. lol! So you lived by Da Mayor. HaHa!
Now I'm sure we made the right choice for Sheriff. Yo Bro. you could have lived on the
effete Northside but your soul would always be on the southside as was mine. D@MMMMN.
This is a small world. I lived on 63rd then had to get out of there and moved to 95th. Then bought
a House in the suburbs Broadview. Now I'm just jumping from state to state LOL!

Fatty,

>>>>>I hear Bynum is firing his agent and replacing him with Laker Tom.

LMAO. You are definitely the King of Blog Comedy, Fatty. Hell, you deserve to be awarded a Fatty for that if you haven’t already honored yourself with one.

Of course, Mitch already insulted Drew by hiring a known cheapskate (Sorry, LTLF) to negotiate on behalf of the Lakers so Drew will respond by no longer being willing to sign for anything less than the max and if no deal by October 31, 2009, he will never wear purple and gold and will accept your qualifying offer and become an unrestricted free agent along with LeBron, Wade, and Bosh the summer of 2010. What’s my percentage, by the way. LOL.
