for all yall laker haters out there wait till bynum comes back it'll be fisher kobe odom(or artest) bynum and gasol man the lakers will be the hottest team in the west banner number 16 is on the way
Hate to poke my nose into a discussion, but this one got my attention- there's no way anyone can claim that Bynum is currently on par with Dwight Howard. Howard averaged over 20 points and nearly 15 boards a game, while blocking over 2 shots a night. In six January games, his best as a pro, Bynum averaged 17/12/2.3. That's six games.
I'm a believer in Bynum's skills and think he could get there but right now, Howard is the better player.

Been away from blog a couple of days and have seen some interesting posts in my absence. I was not going to respond but I too have to put my nose into this.
I have said AB is on par with DH and have stated why. It is a qualified opinion because in comparing stats DH had a 2 yr headstart and played regular minurtes especially as a starter.
Drew came in as youngest player 2 yrs later without the benefit of regular playing time in both his rookie and sophmore years as PJ started KB over him and gave KB more pt time.
Drew in his 3rd year played b/u to Kwame with limited pt and became starter when KB got injured. The game you mentioned came in this time frame as AB was getting quality minutes. Unfortuneately AB got hurt and the rest is history. Now it is wrong to compare the 2 stats wise with pt and experience skewed so much in favor of one player. I base my stance on the fact that AB got his stats in a limited role and mostly back up but still was among the leaders in his position. That to me makes him on par but not better.
With his skills imho I think AB will be better. Stats wise as noted favor DH but as I said stats can be stated or presented in any way to support opinion.
Let me state at the top of this post that I JLF am responding or putting my nose in so no one will confuse this reply as Laker Toms. For clarity sake I want it to be known I am posting this reply, not Laker Tom

BK,
You are responding to ex’s cynical jab at me in the post to Faith, which I assume you knew or guessed, since I seem to have become the most vocal Bynumite.
[Well maybe next to me as the most vocal Bynumite.]

>>>>>Dwight Howard, who is better than Gasol. – ex
I think I have been pretty consistent in my opinion that Drew is the 3rd best center in the NBA right now after Yao and Howard. While I believe that Drew will eventually surpass these two great centers to become the best center in the NBA, I have never claimed that Drew is a better center right now. At least, not that I remember.
[ Neither have I but see my previous post and see I definitly belive AB is on par with DH. And stats wise and experience would point to 3rd best but those stats are skewed as comparing 2 starter to a mainly back up center.]
And you might as well have addressed your post to me since everybody else has today. Have your fun and parse my words all you want, guys In the end, Drew will change your mind by the middle of next season. Again, it’s just my opinion so go to it and have your fun. But like AK says when he gets pissed, just don’t go and put words in my mouth. I can do that well enough myself, thank you. LOL. (Meanwhile, Long Time is surely running a Times search to see if he can find a lost quote or comment to prove me wrong to anchor another 20 page post).
Tom
[I agree with words in the mouth thing and since you get blamed for my posts all should reread my stance and see Laker Tom and I differ slightly on this issue but agree AB should be signed ASAP.
