Samurai Ronny

I mentioned yesterday (as perhaps the only major outlet to break this news, I might add) that Ronny Turiaf practiced with his hair out and wild, a decision I thought he made simply to let his braided hair breathe.  As it turns out, there was a method to his madness.  The do is braided again, but pulled into a pony tail Samurai style, which Ronny  felt was "appropriate for today," given the close-out opportunity in front of them.  Like many athletes, Turiaf is on the superstitious side, so I was surprised he would change horses (or hair styles) in midstream.  But the stakes tonight are big enough that Ronny, clad in a button down shirt with Epaulettes on the shoulder and a majestic bird on the back, was willing to mess with routine in order to help set a tone.  "We have to be warriors."

Quote of the Day
"Oh, thank you.  That's a great help."
Spurs coach Gregg Popovich, upon learning at the press conference (according to him), that the NBA said a foul should have been called against Derek Fisher on the final play of Game 4.

What?

I know what an epaulet is, but I cannot imagine what the hell Ronny would be wearing here.

But that's not criticism. Love the blog, keep up the good work.

Question for long time Laker watchers (or at least medium time Lakers watchers);

On the subject of flopping. I recall clearly in my mind's eye a play when RVDus Sabonis was on the Blazers and they were playing the Lakers. Shaq backed into Sabonis and Sabonis flopped so hard one of his flailing fists punched Rasheed Wallace in the face. My question is, was I imagining this? Did anyone else see this happen and can we get this on youtube? Cause that was a top ten moment for me, and I'm not even sure that it happened anymore.

CAN I GET A "GO LAKERS!"

GO LAKERS

Posted by: phred | May 29, 2008 at 04:03 PM

sorry for repost (and the probable rerepost), but this one is still bugging me.

re last thread- Outlaw- right on. If shaw goes to some aba team or whatever, and the Lakers need an assistant coach in charge of succinct but unquestionable player directives, well, there you go.

Lakers tonight, Lakers in the Finals and Lakers Forever.

And now, the end is near
And so I face the final curtain.
My friend, I'll say it clear,
I'll state my case, of which I'm certain

"YOU CAN DO IT, FINISH IT TONIGHT"

I like RT. I like his spirit!

Go LaaaaaAAAkkkkkkkKKKKKEEEEERRRRSSSSSSsss!!!

Crying game is over, game time San Antonio, let's play ball. It is not the winning or losing but how the refs call the game throughout the game not one segment, not the last call but overall the game is over. Stop crying, referees decision is final. You can play with league, a** kiss with the league we won, it's over.

ATTENTION ALL TROLLS!!!!

DON'T FORGET TO GET YOUR TWO FREE TACOS TONIGHT AT STAPLES, AT THE END OF THE GAME!

IT'S ALREADY DONE!

Charles Barkley said on the pre-game that the NBA coming out saying the foul on Fish should have been called was "assinine and stupid" and didn't accomplish anything.

Don't y'all think that's enough said?

Meanwhile back at the ranch.....
JonK - I seriously hope you're in your seat at your bar!
complex - get to the cave!

THIS IS IT!!!!!!!!!!!!! ALREADY DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5 to O'Brien (and 4 in a couple of hours)

How can you NOT love Ronny??? Samurai warrior indeed!

I think the Spurs will keep it close through half-time and then the Lakers
will have a monster third quarter to pull away and finish them off.

GO LAKERS!!!

Craig Sager looks halfway decent tonight - do you think he's mellowing out?

(And I mean halfway decent for HIM. Dude needs to get a fashion advisor).

No name poster.

I was suposed to be a "button down" Ronny was wearing. Good pick up of the typo.

AK

uh, crap. those anonymous posts were mine. not sure what happened there.

AK-

I kind of thought that was what you meant, but I'm still confused. But Í don't see how that's your fault. We need to get some pictures on up in here.

Phred,

A button down shirt. Does that make it more clear? Plus, there's a wikipedia link with an explanation. From there, I'm out of ideas. haha

AK

Ronny Turiaf better be a fricken Laker for Life. He is our generation's Kurt Rambis with more personality and energy.

GO LAKERS!
