Game Thread - Lakers vs. Jazz, Game 4

Pressure is still on Utah, who can't afford to go down 3-1. Fewer TOs and more made jumpers and the Lakers can steal one in Salt Lake. A heartier constitution displayed by Pau Gasol won't hurt, either.

Kobe is definitely feeling some "discomfort". Let's hope the training staff can work some "magic" at halftime.
GO LAKERS!!

Half-time can't come soon enough. The Lakers need to regain their composure.
Posted by: Rick Friedman | May 11, 2008 at 01:22 PM
Sasha Big Toe Hurts, Turiaf out, Kobe hurt, Fisher foul trouble, poor free throws, and the refs are smoking something.
KOBE IS HURTING
Posted by: Tej | May 11, 2008 at 01:23 PM
Well, it looks like it's up to The Machine to win it for us today. Kobe hurt, Ronnie out on a frickin awful call.
This is like some sort of nightmare.
We need to fight back setting up traps Nightmare on Elm Street style or something.
Posted by: Benjamin | May 11, 2008 at 01:23 PM
Hey Refs, does Utah really need that much help to win? Also, I like Hubie Brown, but c'mon, stop being such an obvious Utah fan. Do the Lakers practice free throws?
Posted by: lakerfan | May 11, 2008 at 01:24 PM
open shots unacceptable!
Posted by: Faith | May 11, 2008 at 01:24 PM
lakeraholic-
you misunderstand what I wrote. I said it was a bad call.

4-13 on Fts you have got to be kidding me. Lakers deserve to lose.
Posted by: Tom | May 11, 2008 at 01:25 PM
did someone say fixed?
Posted by: Faith | May 11, 2008 at 01:26 PM
Anyone know how many layups Lamar has blown this series? He really needs to figure out that all those blown shots at the rim are equivalent to him throwing the ball out of bounds. I have grown very tired of Lamar's game this series. Good things aside he makes dumb decisions at the worst times, and shrinks when you most need him.
Posted by: BH | May 11, 2008 at 01:27 PM
We got the same amount of FT as Utah, we're shooting 4 of 13 (!!!!) 4 of 13 FT?
Posted by: LAL_Fan | May 11, 2008 at 01:28 PM
Lakers just need to suck it up, be patient and play smart. Sometimes they look completely lost out there. Stick to the game plan and execute. As long as they keep it within 10 they'll be OK.
Posted by: KimD | May 11, 2008 at 01:28 PM
Kobe's really bothered by this back thing. That's not good.
Posted by: WWJWWD | May 11, 2008 at 01:28 PM
refs are..... oh well, nevermind, boy we are missing every damn free throw we get
Posted by: playa | May 11, 2008 at 01:28 PM
WOW I can't believe this game--- everything going haywire.. the refs are completely changing the face of the game by calling the worst officiating I've ever seen--- Kobe hurt, Ronny out, Fish with 3 fouls---- SHEEET I can't even type correctly I'm so upset
Posted by: JAIMSYY | May 11, 2008 at 01:29 PM
Major difference so far? Missed free throws. Lakers are 4-13 from the stripe so far. IMO, the Jazz aren't that good of a team. They're only pumped up because of their crowd.
Posted by: Nemaia Faletogo | May 11, 2008 at 01:29 PM
Yes, the Lakers look off-balance (i.e.: bad free throw shooting).
However, I contend the officating has interrupted their flow.
Somehow-in spite of playing 5 (Lakers) against 8 (Jazz and Stern's officiating crew)-they must play through it.
The NBA: were fixed games to make sure we have several 7 game series happen.

refs suck refs suck refs suck refs suck...Ronny shouldn't have gotten ejected..Price was in the air and was already heading down to the floor..prices fault
Posted by: drew | May 11, 2008 at 01:29 PM
I'm noticing a lot of late calls after a shot doesn't go down. That is NOT how to call a game, and it's really starting to irritate me.
Posted by: BH | May 11, 2008 at 01:19 PM
Exactly man! Theres no wistle during contact..but it seems the refs are bailin them out severely after the miss
Posted by: lakeraholic | May 11, 2008 at 01:29 PM
Well Ronnie's was unnecessary foul - they had blown the whistle on sasha so i think he deserved it.
Posted by: ookboy24 | May 11, 2008 at 01:29 PM
Clearly no one is making their outside shot. Is it possible for the Lakers to run some plays inside the paint? Maybe get an easy basket or draw some fouls?
Posted by: KimD | May 11, 2008 at 01:31 PM
Farmar has given us absolutely nothing. Jazz are getting some ridiculous calls right now.
Posted by: Nemaia Faletogo | May 11, 2008 at 01:31 PM
Sure seems like bad Mormon mojo has been spelled upon our teams. A lot of Laker shots are in-and-out.
GO LAKERS!
Posted by: Jon K. | May 11, 2008 at 01:31 PM
With 200% of the things that possibly could go wrong already hitting the fan, this is still a winnable game. Not a very easily winnable game, but they're still right there, and someone has to break out at some point.
Posted by: WWJWWD | May 11, 2008 at 01:31 PM
Luke looked phenomenal on the last play.
GO LAKERS!
Posted by: Jon K. | May 11, 2008 at 01:31 PM
luke is having a great game. We need it to be under ten and we will be OK. , nine point game
Posted by: lakerzeitgeist | May 11, 2008 at 01:32 PM
I actually think Hubie Brown is being very fair to the Lakers--- giving good insights unlike the other clowns that are usually calling the game
Posted by: JAIMSYY | May 11, 2008 at 01:33 PM
Hubie Brown needs to talk less. He is annoying making useless comments.
Posted by: Tom | May 11, 2008 at 01:35 PM
only eight point game, lets go boys. six sasha just kit lay up...d up boys
Posted by: lakerzeitgeist | May 11, 2008 at 01:35 PM
Make our freethrows, relax our shots a bit, foul a bit less and we'll be fine.
GO LAKERS!
Posted by: Jon K. | May 11, 2008 at 01:36 PM
Thanks Kyle Kover way to bail us out. Good job Luke in drawing the foul, and kobe for not forcing. we score here it is down to a four point game. Not bad for having an off night and that terrible call on Ronnie
Posted by: lakerzeitgeist | May 11, 2008 at 01:37 PM
Vujacic on Williams is a good matchup, well a better one than Farmar on Williams Vujacic moves his feet a little and works unlike Farmar. Farmar does not play the rest of the game.
Posted by: Tom | May 11, 2008 at 01:37 PM
Hubie generally does a good job IMO. Balanced, with good basketball insight.
Thank goodness for Luke and Sasha on the offensive end.
Posted by: KimD | May 11, 2008 at 01:37 PM
How many times do we have to hear Hubie say that Ronnie was going for the ball to verify we know that the call was bullcrap.
I like how Gasol went to the ref and pointed to his ear as if to say "didn't you hear that loud azz smack I just got from Okur?" I heard it plain and clear on my t.v. I would imagine the ref standing right there could have at least seen it!
Posted by: lakerfan | May 11, 2008 at 01:38 PM
We are in great position to make some adjustments at the half and take this game over. Feed the machine!!!
Posted by: thehammer | May 11, 2008 at 01:38 PM
That's a hard foul, certainly not uneccesary and excessive contact. Terrible call to cal that a flagrant 2.

My bad..iwhat I meant was I disagree with it being a hard foul. After watching the replay he jumped with no intention of trying to make a shot..if Turiaf hadn't made a play on the ball..he wuda still landed awkward. I agree with everything else you said though
Posted by: lakeraholic | May 11, 2008 at 01:39 PM
Anyone have a working link to a stream? Gotta go to soundcheck for the second half....
Posted by: thehammer | May 11, 2008 at 01:39 PM
God I'm glad I don't live in SLC. Did you catch the hits the organ player is pounding out? "Mexican Hat Dance" followed by "If You're Happy and You Know It" (or whatever that clap your hands song for two-year olds is called...Awesome!
Posted by: AZ LakerFan | May 11, 2008 at 01:39 PM
I don't see Lakers making ANY adjustments after game 3.
Fish is picking up fouls again.
Farmar is not doing anything on the floor
Pau is still being bullied by Utah
And Phil is yet to put Mbenga in the game

I would normally agree with you but in this particular game good spacing and ball movement are pivitol for us to win. Not to mention hitting open perimeter shots and layups freethrows!
So relax! Keep your emotional tirades to a minimum!

wnba should be good this year. C. Parker with the Sparks. Could there be two basketball champions in LA this year?
10-01 run kobe three
Posted by: lakerzeitgeist | May 11, 2008 at 01:40 PM
That's what I'm talking about!
GO LAKERS!
Posted by: Jon K. | May 11, 2008 at 01:40 PM
Has anyone notice how D Fish has been called for 2 quick fouls in the 2 games in Utah?
The NBA: were we must allow D Will and his teamates to have a better offensive flow by not allowing D Fish to play aggresive defense happens.
Posted by: passionate Lakers fan | May 11, 2008 at 01:41 PM
YOU CAN'T SPELL "DOOM" WITHOUT "ODOM"!
ODOM = DOOM FOR THE JAZZ!
GO LAKERS!

Sasha!!!! Lakers finally getting into an offensive rhythym just before halftime.
Posted by: KimD | May 11, 2008 at 01:42 PM
HORRIBLE call!!
Sasha STUFFED Deron. The replay shows it.
Posted by: WWJWWD | May 11, 2008 at 01:43 PM
That's it LO..throw it down
Posted by: lakeraholic | May 11, 2008 at 01:43 PM
I dont want to see any more Farmar.
Vujacic is doing just fine. He's stepped up. Good job boy.
