Game Thread - Lakers at Jazz

Good Jazz brings to mind names like "Coltrane," "Davis," and "Monk." Bad Jazz brings to mind names like "G," "G," and "G." Let's hope tonight's jazz is even weaker than the stuff played by Kenny.

ESPN show opening sucks!
Why does anyone think Def Leppard is a good match for the NBA demographic?

Finals huh?
Wow.
Same here.

Farmar is giving us nothing right now. We really need him to pull it together. This slump has been going for much too long now.

"Vlad hit his first three. That's normally a good sign"
That is a good sign...........now you need to focus your attention on Phil and whether or not Rad continues to play and spread the floor............or will he continue to play Walton?
Posted by: pfunk36 | May 09, 2008 at 06:35 PM
WHY
WHY BRING IN LUKE WHEN VLAD IS HOT
I DONT WANT TO HEAR ANYBODY ELSE TALK SHIIII ABOUT VLAD.
Its hard to find a rhythm when your snatch from the game
FLUCCCCCC.

Hey all, take it easy on Farmar. I'm sure PJ wants to see him get some minutes and, more importantly, confidence. Confidence...Vujacic has plenty of that. :-)

* Pops up from Cave *
That actually wasnt bad considering Kobe was an O-fer and we withstood their opening emotional Bru Ha Ha.. The Farmar/Williams match up worries me because Sloan exploites it well and this is the diff between Pau and Drew or European BBall mindset and American.. I still would like to see Mihm get some run.. I have a feeling.. oh nevermind.. back to the cave I go

Gasol is playing extremely timid, soft, and incredibly weak
Posted by: pfunk36 | May 09, 2008 at 06:39 PM
What the hell is wrong with Gasol? That's like the 4th time he loses the ball because he's just standing there.
Posted by: Brazilian Laker | May 09, 2008 at 06:39 PM
All things considered i like how this quarter ended. we weathered the storm despite having Fisher out and KB in hibernation mode. Pau needs to man up though and Farmar is a LONG way away from competing with DWii or the other premier PG's in the league.
Boozer was due to show up but I like our cahnces.
GO LAKERS!

Thanks for the link ! ! !
It's a good one....
Lakers got a game on their hands. I might suggest it will be easier on them if they STOP turning the ball over. Just an idea....
GO LAKERS

pfunk36,
I've got no problem with Phil putting Walton in. He's outplayed Vlad the entire postseason and hit the open 3.
Posted by: Xodus | May 09, 2008 at 06:40 PM
And Farmar can't make a shot to save his life. He's horrible.
Posted by: Brazilian Laker | May 09, 2008 at 06:40 PM
No fouls for us tonight. That's just ridiculous refereeing.
Posted by: Brazilian Laker | May 09, 2008 at 06:41 PM
Fishers back....I know hindsight is 20-20, but he's played thru foul trouble and not fouled out all year.
32-27...need to stop run
Posted by: Derek | May 09, 2008 at 06:43 PM
This is the worst game we've played this PS. No doubt. Offense not moving the ball. Gasol struggling. Refs not helping. Being owned on D. Nothing is going right. It's amazing we are only 5 behind. Hope it stays that way.
Posted by: Brazilian Laker | May 09, 2008 at 06:43 PM
The SLC home crowd definitely acting like the sixth man tonight. Lakers are missing layups and creating TOs due to nerves and Jazz are making shots they didn't in LA.
The good thing is home crowds do get tired.
Btw, why does everyone in the stands look alike lol ?
Posted by: LakerinBC | May 09, 2008 at 06:44 PM
No fouls to be called when we just bobble, simply bobble the ball.
LET'S GO LAKERS!
LET'S GO!
CLAP! CLAP!
Posted by: Faith | May 09, 2008 at 06:44 PM
Damn, the refs are giving the Jazz the calls. Lakers has to understand that the home team will get the benefit of the doubt if not a slanted favor. They need to be crisper and not give any reason for those questionable calls. Go go go Lakers!!!

pfunk36
so if Phil was a better coach, we would have a higher seed in the west or a better record in the playoffs?
not sure what you're criticizing here.
Posted by: phred | May 09, 2008 at 06:45 PM
The SLC home court advantage has made the refs swallow their whistles. I was afraid this was going to happen.
Posted by: LakerinBC | May 09, 2008 at 06:45 PM
The refs watching, what game are?
Farmar plays like dead cock-a-roach. Terrible, he plays terrible. Yeesssssss.
Posted by: Master Yoda | May 09, 2008 at 06:45 PM
So far
Dered's foul trouble has hurt us.
Farmar's mindless play is severely crippling us.
Gasol's weak play in the middle straps us
Phil's substitution pattern......Killing us
But we're still in this game
Posted by: pfunk36 | May 09, 2008 at 06:46 PM
calm down people! Were playing alil nervous..but when the nerves settle and the smoke clear we will be the Victor (and I aint talkin bout Frankenstein lol)
Posted by: lakeraholic | May 09, 2008 at 06:46 PM
Farmar? What happened to his game? Ouch.
And can someone inject some angry juice into Gasol's forearm please? He's playing a little south of wus right now.
Just keep it close. Keep it close until the 4th.
Posted by: marco | May 09, 2008 at 06:46 PM
kobe for 2
Posted by: Derek | May 09, 2008 at 06:46 PM
Farmer is not ready for prime time. He should be wait and see what Deron William is doing before acting. In the offense, he is rushing tough shots instead of waiting for great shots.
Posted by: PJ doubter | May 09, 2008 at 06:47 PM
Kobe's here!!!
GO LAKERS!!
Posted by: Happy Camper | May 09, 2008 at 06:47 PM
pfunk36,
"That is a good sign...........now you need to focus your attention on Phil and whether or not Rad continues to play and spread the floor............or will he continue to play Walton?"
Stop it dude! Leave the coach alone. You ain't own 9 championship ring.
Posted by: trio | May 09, 2008 at 06:47 PM
They're called layups for a reason. WTF guys?
Complex bro is on it when he makes the comparison between Euro and American hoops.
ps I could give a rats about NASCAR...enough with the updates Stu
pps I am going to get sick if I see that Utah woman with the mass of ridiculous black hair again...if she was cute mebbbe. But Comon'
Posted by: AZ LakerFan | May 09, 2008 at 06:47 PM
Comon Ref, one goddam foul please.
Posted by: Brazilian Laker | May 09, 2008 at 06:48 PM
Wide open shots are UNFREAKIN ACCEPTABLE!
Posted by: Faith | May 09, 2008 at 06:49 PM
LUKE.
Drives and goes to the line. One reason the fouls aren't being called is because we are turning the ball over by just being careless.
Could be worse though. At least we don't have anyone playing the game like LeBrick has his past two games.
(BTW.......how many hours has it been since I said I hate the effin Celts???????)
Posted by: MiloRambaldi | May 09, 2008 at 06:49 PM
Another TO for Gasol. Get him out. Let him rest through this quarter. He's just plain bad tonight.
Posted by: Brazilian Laker | May 09, 2008 at 06:51 PM
I thought I'll never say ths but, Pau is doing a lousy job. He is making Okur look like an All- Star. C'mon Pau. harden those muscles! Matador Ole!
Posted by: Lakergurl | May 09, 2008 at 06:51 PM
Predictably, Utah is getting away with physical play at home without the whistles coming. The Lakers need to just play through it and adjust. And stay in the game. In the past, this is the kind of thing that's gotten them focused more on referee bitching than playing.
In particular, Pau's looking frustrated.

farmar and gasol are ruining the game for us!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by: VINNY | May 09, 2008 at 06:52 PM
Gasol has made the Lakers a really good team. BUT COME ON. He needs to stop being a little girl and complaining on EVERY SINGLE PLAY. He is exposing the ball and turning it over on a regular basis. Turiaf did great when he was in the game put him back in for Gasol until he settles down and stops his whining.
Posted by: Tom | May 09, 2008 at 06:52 PM
phred
Maybe you can answer why Phil insists on going through Gasol in the post
Why not run Kobe in the post and force a double and let Kobe make the decisions.
Gasol can't score one-one in a physical game KYP
Instead of praising Phil........Why don't you think for yourself
If you can do that
Posted by: pfunk36 | May 09, 2008 at 06:53 PM
Pau's gotta learn... in the playoffs... NO LAY INS !!! gotta dunk those through... that was a 6pt swing..
Posted by: complex brotha | May 09, 2008 at 06:53 PM
Gasol continues to be the weak link the starting 5's Defensive scheme. This is where AB is sorely missed.
Posted by: Rick Friedman | May 09, 2008 at 06:53 PM
O Yeah Forgot to mention. Gasol's defense on Okur is atrocious and his transitional defense isn't far behind.
Posted by: Tom | May 09, 2008 at 06:53 PM
The refs, see the paint, cannot.
Hand-check, they are seen, but paint eluuuuuudessss them.
Posted by: Master Yoda | May 09, 2008 at 06:53 PM
why we continue to give the ball to gasol ?
Posted by: VINNY | May 09, 2008 at 06:54 PM
Boozer's Buddies? And it's a foundation for kids?
Something not quite right about that.
Posted by: Benjamin | May 09, 2008 at 06:54 PM
C/mon Utah crowd..........boo Fisher.
Give the Lakers a good reason to wake up.
