Game Thread - Lakers at Jazz

Good Jazz brings to mind names like "Coltrane," "Davis," and "Monk." Bad Jazz brings to mind names like "G," "G," and "G." Let's hope tonight's jazz is even weaker than the stuff played by Kenny.

Man, I am so geeked for this game. It is ON!!!
Let's celebrate jesterguru's birthday, which is tomorrow, with a win tonight, and a win on Sunday.

Hey K Bros,
Are you guys blogging on the road tonight? Or on the road of the nearest bar near you? haha, jk.
Go Lakers!
Vengeance is thy mission!

I'll tell you what I would like. As we are clinching the title against the Celts in game four. The Jumbo Tron scrolls out 'the Fridge' line and the whole crowd repeats it in unison.
While the Celts are still on the floor! lol

It's a beautiful thought.
Posted by: phred | May 09, 2008 at 06:05 PM

Go Lakers! Go MVP!

Vlad hit his first three. That's normally a good sign.

2 quickies on me....to the bench I go
Posted by: Derek | May 09, 2008 at 06:12 PM
We threw the first punch metaphorically.
Now time to maintain.

LO's got long arms. And awesome brain!

If our Lakers can pull out a win tonight, then I think the series will be over. Hopefully, Boozer will be a no-show tonight just like in the previous 2 games.
Lakers need to attack the rim and get Boozer, Okur, & AK-47 into some early foul trouble. Then they can get a lead & make the Jazz work hard by playing catch-up. They also need to stop Millsap and make Deron Williams work for his shots.
MiloRambaldi - Thanks for the link.
GO LAKERS!!!

Looks like the refs are going to do us in. Fish with 2 fouls already!? Hope Farmar can hold his ground. Go Lakers.
Posted by: Lakergurl | May 09, 2008 at 06:17 PM
This is ridiculous. 4 turnovers already. Gasol HAS to finish that play. Horrible start.
Posted by: Brazilian Laker | May 09, 2008 at 06:18 PM
Kobe looking off tonight
Posted by: derek | May 09, 2008 at 06:18 PM
Now the crowd's on their game.
Stay focused.
GO Lakers!
Posted by: Faith | May 09, 2008 at 06:18 PM
Farmar seems to have left his basketball IQ in LA.
Posted by: LakerinBC | May 09, 2008 at 06:19 PM
I am TICKED that PJ didn't call a time out after the 2nd turnover - then they go on to get another 2 or 3 in a row & now it's tied & the crowd is noisy again.....AARRGGHHH!!!!
Posted by: justanothermambafan | May 09, 2008 at 06:19 PM
tied 11-11, big oppty for Jazz to make a run now and put pressure on us vs. consistently facing an uphill battle
Posted by: Derek | May 09, 2008 at 06:20 PM
Let's hope tonight's jazz is even weaker than the stuff played by Kenny.

Yikes!! That was kind of a Low Blow.
Posted by: lakeraholic | May 09, 2008 at 06:20 PM
I know Jordan's the back up of FIsh...but I don't play him here.
I'd play Sasha. With Sasha you get the shooting, and the pesky D. Granted it could lead to us having to give up fouls early, but it's going to be harder for them to double our players (notice Jordan is almost always open of late), and that makes it that much harder for Deron Williams to get what he wants.
Go Lakers!
Posted by: Faith | May 09, 2008 at 06:21 PM
Hubie Brown looked like an a$$ hamming it up with the refs coming back from the break
Posted by: Derek | May 09, 2008 at 06:21 PM
Another turnover. Lakers forgot how to play offense.
Posted by: Brazilian Laker | May 09, 2008 at 06:22 PM
Yeah, Jordan is better when he plays with the 2nd unit against the other teams backup PG
Posted by: Derek | May 09, 2008 at 06:24 PM
Lakerahoilic,
I stand by my assessment. haha
But I will pay Mr. G. one serious compliment. Dude is a hell of a golfer. He's about scratch or so, I believe. Frankly, I wish he'd give up music and go after his tour card. haha

LO pay attention!
Jordan stop needing help so much!
Posted by: Faith | May 09, 2008 at 06:25 PM
Gasol is just playing horribly. This is by far our worst game this PS. Pathetic start.
Posted by: Brazilian Laker | May 09, 2008 at 06:25 PM
Get Jordan Farmar out now!
Posted by: Faith | May 09, 2008 at 06:25 PM
keep this close...I would go to post isolation for Pau and get him going
Posted by: Derek | May 09, 2008 at 06:27 PM
I think Farmar is too small for the "triangle guard". He is more fitted for the run and gun offense. D Will is making him look very inept specially on defense. We need a better back up guard.
Posted by: Lakergurl | May 09, 2008 at 06:27 PM
to much TO early in the game
Posted by: xSilaNtiSx | May 09, 2008 at 06:27 PM
Weren't the Lakers supposed to get some news on Ariza today? Anybody reporting on what's up with that?
Posted by: onanoman | May 09, 2008 at 06:27 PM
what the hell is gasol doing ?
Posted by: VINNY | May 09, 2008 at 06:28 PM
Pau is definitely having a tough start. Hope he can keep his composure.
GO LAKERS!!
Posted by: Happy Camper | May 09, 2008 at 06:28 PM
Ok..uhhh wassup with the Lakers? Why is Gasol trying to post up Okur so far out on the block? Why is Sasha not in the game instead of Farmar
Posted by: lakeraholic | May 09, 2008 at 06:28 PM
big 3 from Rad
Posted by: Derek | May 09, 2008 at 06:29 PM
I'm guessing the Lakers are taking their opposition for granted, considering the easy time of it versus Denver and the first two games against Utah.
Time for Phil to earn his money.
Anyone using an online link, this one (so far) has very little buffering and also appears to be a wild feed of ESPN. NO COMMERCIALS!!!!!

Faith,
We're both in L.A. They're only having us travel if we end up in the finals. Here's to hoping.

I know this is stating the obvious, but Kobe 1-1 with Brewer has to be the rookie's nightmare...
Posted by: Derek | May 09, 2008 at 06:31 PM
Before everyone starts wondering the same things im starting to wonder about our start..lets be alil objective. Utah won't lay down for us..we will execute
Posted by: lakeraholic | May 09, 2008 at 06:31 PM
Pau needs to keep the ball up & his back to the basket. He keeps getting stripped when he faces up & brings the ball down... like Kobe likes to do, but Kobe is a guard.
Farmar is too small to cover D. Williams. I'd like to see Sasha on him.
2 nice baskets for Turiaf. Nice!
GO LAKERS!!!
Posted by: Stephen W. | May 09, 2008 at 06:31 PM
I love Hubie Brown's pronunciation:
Vu-ya-sis.
Oh, Hubie. Keep on keeping on.

Phil Jackson insists on running the offense through Gasol in the post and he should have been running it through Kobe
Now that he has Kobe in the post he subs Walton for Radmanovich who was on fire.........Go figure
Posted by: pfunk36 | May 09, 2008 at 06:32 PM
Bummer that Boozer is feelin' it tonight.
GO LAKERS!!
Posted by: Happy Camper | May 09, 2008 at 06:32 PM
Wow! Turiaf was so wide open. No man should be that wide open in the playoffs
Posted by: lakeraholic | May 09, 2008 at 06:33 PM
Great job by Kobe finding Ronny.
They've outpplayed us in the first and it's still tied.
Posted by: Xodus | May 09, 2008 at 06:33 PM
Well, that was a TOUGH quarter, and we played them even. I'll take it.
GO LAKERS!!
Posted by: Happy Camper | May 09, 2008 at 06:33 PM
Farmar going 1 on 4 on the break....better yet why was he out there?
Posted by: Derek | May 09, 2008 at 06:34 PM
Jordan needs to learn, he's not the big bannanas in this team.
He needs to do the little things. Stop the turnovers, and yes when you're in transition with less than 24 to go in the shot-clock, a miss is a turnover imo.
