The refs have got to start calling this game FAIR! there is no way San Antonio should be within 10 of us. I look for a great second half from the MAMBA,maybe the dam refs will give him some free throws as well?
Posted by: Eric Forkel | May 27, 2008 at 07:39 PM
Guy's LAY OFF LUKE, GEEZE
not every player we have can be an all star, besides he has 9 points at the half, at this rate he could have 15 points this game, not bad for a bench player, every time one of our players miss a shot or two you want to trade them....
HOW ABOUT WE TRADE YOUR A$$ES for not being true Laker fans
Posted by: tomK | May 27, 2008 at 07:29 PM
So you are not a true Laker fan as a result of being upset for a single player blowing lay-ups, giving up turnovers that have led to 6 to 8 points, feeling sorry for himself in front of tv cameras, missing free throw?
So you are not a true Laker fan as a result of being upset that a 22-8 lead was surrendered as a result of LO going to the bench and Luke single handedly destroying the flow of the triangle?
Kobe screamed in Luke's face to man up and stop feeling sorry for himself; does that not make Kobe a Laker's fan?
Luke must go.
And I will state this even if the Lake Show win tonight.
PS: Pau is not having a great game; yet he has made his free throws, decent defense on Timmy, and no turnovers.
Pau has been a Laker for less than a year.
Luke has no excuse (and the "distraction" of his ailing father will not cut it; LO has lost a mother, a grandmother, and a son).
HOW BOUT WE TRAD LUKE SORRY A$$ FOR PLAYING LIKE A LOS ANGELES SPARKS?
Posted by: passionate Lakers fan | May 27, 2008 at 07:39 PM
crzyfan: Lamar got hit with 3 ticky tack fouls...so, he's been on the bench.
Posted by: Janet | May 27, 2008 at 07:40 PM
Passionate Laker Fan, Luke is redeeming himself in very small way. The fella is trying his best, it is PJ who is stubborn in keeping him for long minutes. He's buying time on LO, why not try Trevor? Kobe and Trevor plus Vladrad that's a good triangle.
Posted by: Edwin Gueco | May 27, 2008 at 07:40 PM
Positive, positive team, one of Lukes missed FT lead to Kobe scoring two at the end of the half (four point play). We have this, "refs" aside.
Posted by: valleylaker | May 27, 2008 at 07:40 PM
Luke Walton is 4-9 1-3 on fts right now with 9 points. He should be 7-9 (missed layups) and 3-3 on fts for 17 points. That should be his stat line right now with the shots he is getting. So Lakers should be up 14, possbily even 17 since one of his missed layups lead to a transition and 1 fo r Parker.
Posted by: Tom | May 27, 2008 at 07:33 PM
The above post is for all the Luke supporters who claim us Luke haters need to have our a$$ ship out.
Stupid a$$ Luke lovers.
Ship his sorry a$$ out.

Parker 10 secs in the lane, no call. Duncan takes a walk around the River Walk, no call -- What the hell is really going on?
Posted by: lakersrydeordie | May 27, 2008 at 07:41 PM
Free throws in the game:
Spurs: 17-17
Lakers (without Walton): 6-6
Walton: 1-3.
Fortunately his second missed free throw led to an LA rebound and a Kobe basket with 1" left.
Posted by: Tsphere | May 27, 2008 at 07:42 PM
Yess we know Walton is struggling, but to blame him for alone for "losing the Lakers 14 point lead" is a little bit extreme. I appreciate all LAKER Nation passionate posts but let's get back to reality here and understand despite. Luke, Gasol and Odom's less than stellar play and despite the 17 free throws and the hilarious "3 STEP DUNK" by Tim Duncan we finished the quarter strong (particularly Walton/Kobe) and we did not relinquish the lead to Spurs. Regarding Ariza, I love his athleticism and defense and I think he should see some minutes should Luke, or Odom revert to their sloppy early game ways. Special "Gold Star" of the first half for AGAIN solid all around play by Radmanovic!!

Dear Lakers Nation,
Pls. relax.
My crystal ball says Lakers will win tonight.
Just relax and enjoy the game.

Phred, I forgot: the link doesn't work on Macs.

Lakers are working very hard on defense, although they've had more than a handful of total defensive breakdowns...they're clearly playing a bit tentative with all the (yes, appallingly one-sided) whistles and the resulting foul trouble. But, as Coach used to say, move the feet on defense instead of reaching and you'll be ok.
Offense is more problematic. After the first couple of minutes, they have been in about the worst offensive spacing i've seen from them in this series. I know we want to stick to the offense, but they have to realize that their offense also includes smart 3 attempts...off picks and open looks. That'll help with the spacing.
And oh yeah, let's please GIVE IT A REST with those rabid (and ridiculous) calls for the heads of PJ, Pau, and Luke. OK, their games aren't clicking at the moment, but they're giving lots of effort, and they're the guys who got you here (alright, alright, Kobe has had something to do with that).
Dance with the girl you brought to the dance, and I'd say we've got a hot little number here.
GO LAKERS, DAMMIT, DON'T LET Joey C and Co. deny what should be a magnificent "W"!!
Posted by: onanoman | May 27, 2008 at 07:43 PM
I think 3rd and 4th will Sasha time as well as Kobe. That's the secret of Laker success in this playoffs. So for the role players, all you get to do is defense, shoot those free throws and rebound. See you at the end of the game, I've a call from Barkley. lol!
Posted by: Edwin Gueco | May 27, 2008 at 07:44 PM
I think you'll see SA make a point of getting Ginobli started early on in the third. If LA can thwart that and keep him off balance, I think LA will be in great shape.
Plus, general fatigue will be a huge issue for SA late third and fourth quarter. Games every other day for several days now will take a toll on the older legs of SA, especially if they are trying to fight back from a defecit.
Posted by: MiloRambaldi | May 27, 2008 at 07:44 PM
Kobe has shot 7 free throws in 3 and a half games is a joke and anybody that says he getts super star treatment from the reffs must watch the heat-mavericks finalls games from 2 years back
Posted by: shneurson | May 27, 2008 at 07:44 PM
We should talk about the positives and negatives:
Kobe is controlling the game nicely.
Vlad is playing pretty good.
Fisher is also playing pretty good.
Gasol is still soft.
Walton needs to make layups.
Odom needs to stay aggressive and finish.
Posted by: Tom | May 27, 2008 at 07:44 PM
comptons,
ok...
Phil has 9 championships and the most playoff wins in league history.
Name 30 wrongs that could possibly trump that.
I'm waiting.
(BTW, stop giving compton and carson a bad name wit your haterism. People are going to think we dont know basketball over there by 190th with this PJ haterism)
Posted by: Korey | May 27, 2008 at 07:45 PM
Lakers4Realz,
That comment about Doug Collins made me crack the PHUK up!! LOL
Posted by: lakersrydeordie | May 27, 2008 at 07:46 PM
Lamar needs to concentrate on rebounding and good ball movement forget shooting jumpers hit the offensive boards!
Posted by: chuck23 | May 27, 2008 at 07:46 PM
Tom
Using that logic we should be down on Odom, Fisher, Farmar, Sasha AND Kobe as well as they have had open shot's and not knocked them down.
I'm not buying it
Walton has made a few mistakes but ALL this blog sees is the mistakes
Posted by: tomK | May 27, 2008 at 07:46 PM
Wow, Duncan just missed an easy layup. And no foul. Amazing!
Posted by: Ben Goldberg | May 27, 2008 at 07:47 PM
That "troy" keeps posting... doesn't he still have egg on his face after what he said during game 1: "It's just a fact: San Antonio is a better team than the Lakers.."
If we hadn't had those 4 minutes of blackout by Walton and 6 fouls between Fish and Odom, it would be a rout already.
Go Lakers!
Posted by: regista | May 27, 2008 at 07:47 PM
COME ON already!! Jeez if you cough on Duncan or any Spur it's a foul!! Bad thing is that it gives the aging Spurs team much needed rests during the game when they are at the line!! ARRGGGG!!!!!
Posted by: jhnlannery | May 27, 2008 at 07:49 PM
and we start of the second half with another crappy foul call!
Posted by: bonez | May 27, 2008 at 07:49 PM
Man, Kobe's foot work and ability to get a good shot in traffic is amazing.
Posted by: Xodus | May 27, 2008 at 07:50 PM
Why are we triple teaming Duncan????? TWO should be enough. Cant leave 2 SPURS 3 point shooters alone at the 3 point line.......
Posted by: jhnlannery | May 27, 2008 at 07:50 PM
see kobe , that's how u drive to the basket with control stop and pop!!!!!!!!!
Posted by: vi lakerfan | May 27, 2008 at 07:50 PM
One more thing about the fatigue factor.
It will cause the Spurs to start bricking free throws.
Posted by: MiloRambaldi | May 27, 2008 at 07:50 PM
I'm glad we have more Kobe than they do.
GO LAKERS!!
Posted by: Happy Camper | May 27, 2008 at 07:53 PM
Almost every time kobe goes up for a shot bowen is rite there on his elbow
Posted by: bonez | May 27, 2008 at 07:53 PM
kobe cant buy a foul
Posted by: Paul Lee | May 27, 2008 at 07:53 PM
Fish looks frustrated by the lack of calls in our favor. Especially since he's getting hammered all over the place.
This victory will be sweet...if we can pull it out.
Posted by: Janet | May 27, 2008 at 07:54 PM
tomK,
ITS missed layups and not jumpers! LAYUPS!
Posted by: Tom | May 27, 2008 at 07:54 PM
Doesn't have much to do with the game tonight, but do the Lakers have any picks in the draft this year or did they trade them all to Memphis for Pau?
Posted by: DavyJonze | May 27, 2008 at 07:55 PM
Gasol has 5 rebounds that are "empty".
Posted by: Tom | May 27, 2008 at 07:55 PM
Spurs have the most respect in the league thats why they not gettin fouls called against them.
Its so fake.
Spurs have 20 free throws, the Lakers have 10.
And it's all TOUCH fouls!
Duncan cant get touched and it's a whistle.
Kobe can get molested and it's fair ball.
Ridiculous.
Posted by: Korey | May 27, 2008 at 07:56 PM
Why does Duncan get all these little fouls when Kobe gets hacked and can't even go to the line.?
Posted by: Tom | May 27, 2008 at 07:56 PM
There should be an investigation why they are not calling fouls on Bowen!!!!
Posted by: shneurson | May 27, 2008 at 07:57 PM
OK, here comes SA's drought. This is where -- refs or no refs -- we need to open it up!!!
Posted by: onanoman | May 27, 2008 at 07:57 PM
One thing that is quite impressive bout us tonight...we are fighting through these bad calls and just beating them and the refs
Posted by: bonez | May 27, 2008 at 07:58 PM
Davey Jones,
After the trade, the Lakers have no first round picks. Just a late second round pick.
AK
Posted by: Andrew Kamenetzky | May 27, 2008 at 07:58 PM
Gunner I GOT NEWS FOR YOU, ITS THE REFS NOT WALTON THAT HAS CHANGED THE DIRECTION OF THIS GAME, THE SPURS HAVE ALMOST 20 FOUL SHOTS, DOUBLE US AND THEY HAVE BEEN FOULING US MORE THAN WE HAVE THEM
Posted by: tomK | May 27, 2008 at 07:59 PM
Odom is again looking lost.... Make no mistake about it WE WILL NEED HIM to DO SOMETHING consitently to win, I don't care if it's rebounding Or scoring OR defensive play but we are NOT getting what we need from him for the last 6 and 1/2 quarters of this series. He SHOULD be a difference maker as he's a perfect matchup nightmare for the Spurs when he's not tentative (see Game 2 stats) . I don't know what the hell the coach can do to get him motivated now but something must be done!!
Posted by: jhnlannery | May 27, 2008 at 08:00 PM
BS Isnt' tripping a FOUL in the NBA!!!
Posted by: jhnlannery | May 27, 2008 at 08:00 PM
regista-
thanks. I actually have lots of links. I was posting for manoman, I just have a mediocre internet connection.
but thanks
we've had this stupid discussion about Luke all year. To the best of my knowledge, I don't think anyone has been able to prove that Luke or Phil prevented us from being the top seed in the west, with a 2-1 lead over the defending champs, with a six digit lead in the third on the spurs home court. I don't think we had blogs back in the eighties, but I can imagine them accusing mychal or somebody for being lousy as we racked up the titles. Blog self abuse, I think I will start calling it.

GEEZ!!!! PAU!!!! TAKE A CHANCE AND DRIVER THE BALL ON DUNCAN FOR ONCE!!!! He's standing around with the ball aching to pass it off!
