Luke is killing us!
Put Kobe at small foward and let's take this game.
Posted by: LAKER TRUTH | May 27, 2008 at 07:23 PM
If Doug Collins got more excited about the spurs..he would have a white spot on his blue pants..
WTF.
shut the hell up Dcollins....

Walton needs to be waived, he can't be playing for the Lakers. He missed two point-blank shots in the last two-three minutes, why does Phil love this player so much?
He's absolute crap!

Nice board and putback by Luke.

LUKE FINALLY PLAYING LIKE A MAN!
Posted by: Marco | May 27, 2008 at 07:24 PM
luke's trying real hard to prove his worth, but he helped greatly in losing the big lead to begin with

Luke is blowing a lot of plays but to his credit he is making plays...
If he could just make all his damn layups we would be good!
Posted by: Korey | May 27, 2008 at 07:25 PM
The second half is OURS!!!
Posted by: LAKER TRUTH | May 27, 2008 at 07:25 PM
thats a great way to finish the half
The Spurs will not give us this game we have to rip their harts out
Posted by: shneurson | May 27, 2008 at 07:26 PM
Luke proving me wrong straight away with four quick points. C'mon Lakers, this game is for us to have!
Posted by: Francesco | May 27, 2008 at 07:26 PM
Give credit where credit is due. Thanks Walton for finally scoring 4 points when probably we should have 6-8 more points with your missed layups.
Posted by: Tom | May 27, 2008 at 07:27 PM
did i just see ariza? a solid all around game for walton????????(announcers) an interview ???????wtf wtf wtf this is crazy!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by: vi lakerfan | May 27, 2008 at 07:27 PM
I take it all back. The idiots on the justintv site are arguing that Bush was responsible for 9/11. At least pfunk hasn't accused phil jackson of terrorism yet.
There really is a higher standard of discussion on this blog. Sadly, that doesn't seem to raise the bar very high.
Posted by: phred | May 27, 2008 at 07:27 PM
I really hope the officiating improves in the 2nd half...we can't beat the Spurs AND the refs.
Posted by: Janet | May 27, 2008 at 07:27 PM
Fellahs...lakers brothers.
it is all good..we are up 6...
look for us to try to hammer them the first 5 mins...
Posted by: Lakers4Realz | May 27, 2008 at 07:27 PM
ok, I take that back Luke. Nice spin move and pinning Ginobli for the and one. Keep it up Luke!!!!
Posted by: Lakergurl | May 27, 2008 at 07:27 PM
I've never seen a guy disagree with the courtside guy and say on his pre-halftime interview that, no, in fact I'm not playing that well. It was a Home Run Derby half for Luke. All or nothing.

Posted by: Brian Kamenetzky | May 27, 2008 at 07:27 PM
very strong finish by the Lakers. I must admit the zebras are killin our momentum
Posted by: lakeraholic | May 27, 2008 at 07:28 PM
WTF is going on.....interviewing Luke?
Is there a conspiracy?
I hope Luke plays better but this media is ridiculous.........is there a common thread that binds this all together?
Posted by: pfunk36 | May 27, 2008 at 07:28 PM
SERIOUSLY...
I'M ALWAYS THE FIRST PERSON TO SAY THAT ON THE ROAD YOU ALWAYS GOTTA PLAY PAST THE REF CALLS.
BUT THIS GAME HAS TO BE ONE OF THE WORST ONE SIDED CALLED GAMES EVER. THE SPURS BE DOWN 20 IF IT WASNT FOR THE REFS
Posted by: Paul Lee | May 27, 2008 at 07:28 PM
AND WHAT DRUGS ARE MARV ALBERT ON?
SAYING LUKE IS HAVE AN ALL AROUND GREAT PERFORMANCE?
THIS HAS TO BE A BRAINWASH TECHNIQUE ORCHESTRA BY HIS WEAK - RIDING THE BENCH FOR THE CELTICS - DUMB COMMENTARY FATHER BILL!
Posted by: Gunner | May 27, 2008 at 07:28 PM
That's the beauty of Puke, he gets even in some hustle way. LUUUUUUUUUKeee, afraid of being scolded by Kobeeeeee!
Posted by: Edwin Gueco | May 27, 2008 at 07:29 PM
Guy's LAY OFF LUKE, GEEZE
not every player we have can be an all star, besides he has 9 points at the half, at this rate he could have 15 points this game, not bad for a bench player, every time one of our players miss a shot or two you want to trade them....
HOW ABOUT WE TRADE YOUR A$$ES for not being true Laker fans
Posted by: tomK | May 27, 2008 at 07:29 PM
Spurs are fortunate to be in this game?!?! No we worked our butts off to get here. And to those saying the spurs suck...come on ....you cannot tell me that this is not a damn good game we have here on both sides. I hate people that think one sided.
Posted by: cello_the Spurs fan | May 27, 2008 at 07:29 PM
I'm glad that Luke knows he's still playing horribly, he's missed like three point blank layups. Still though, at least he's getting good looks and making over half of them. Lakers don't look superb or anything, but they're getting the job done. No one said they were going to easily beat the Spurs in a game 4 like this. If they can just keep it close and give themselves a chance to win it at the end, then we'll be fine.
Posted by: Ben Goldberg | May 27, 2008 at 07:30 PM
Luke finished strong but PJ needs to put a tight rope on this guy. Too much is at stake for Phil to be playing Luke this much even though LO in foul trouble!
Posted by: chuck23 | May 27, 2008 at 07:30 PM
I have said it before... if the league don't start to penalize this refs about bad calls and poor decisions out there on the court, they will continue to decide who win and who loses.
Posted by: Maxximo | May 27, 2008 at 07:19 PM
YOU ARE SO RIGHT. I'VE BEEN SAYING THAT FOR AWHILE ALSO.
Posted by: Paul Lee | May 27, 2008 at 07:30 PM
Jeez Laker Nation, could you have anymore hate for Luke or Pau? Should Phil just bench them both for the remainder of the series? I am in favor of calling out players that are not producing at the moment, but calling Gasol a "bytch" and Luke countless other names isn't going to make them play better. We need to be sending positive thoughts to The Lakers tonight! Big game here for us and DESPITE our foul trouble and Gasol and Luke's uneven play and Odom, Fisher and Sasha's 3 FOULS EACH we are still in the lead and we STILL have TRIPLE OCHO. Those calls by the refs WILL even out in the 2nd half, so I'm very optimistic about our chances. If it wasn't for the Spurs 18 points at the free thwo line this would be a 15-20 point game in the Lakers favor right now. Come on Laker nation!!!! NUT UP as fans and accentuate the positive. This is a game ripe for our taking.....

Strong finish to the half. Definitely a welcome display of character for this young Laker team.
Luke haters: Be glad he recovered from a terrible start. He'll never be the most talented player on the floor, but he's nearly always willing to play through his mistakes -- the sign of a playoff-tested veteran.
Had Luke continued to struggle, we would have seen Ariza before the game is over. We still may.
In the second half, the Lakers must be able to defend without fouling. That will take more consistent energy and commitment that we saw in the middle of the second period.
Not going into the half with the lead we wanted, but it gives us a chance if we can outwork the Spurs and come out strong at the top of the third quarter. This is our team. This is our year. Go Lakers!

If Mike Krzyzewski coached San Antonio would the Spurs ever be upright?
Posted by: Lord Jeffrey Amherst | May 27, 2008 at 07:32 PM
I have not been this angry since discovering this blogg.
I have not felt the hate for one player like I do for Luke.
One player single-handedly surrender a 14 point lead.
One player single-handedly gave the Spurs hope.
The most important game in the career of the Lakers.
Go up 3 to 1 or face a 6 or 7 game series.
Each close-up on Luke's face suggest stress.
If the Lakers lose this game, Luke will feel like a relief pitcher who gave up a 4 run lead in the bottom of the 9th with 2 outs and 2 strikes.
If the Lakers lose this game Luke will never be the same.
His confidence (what little-per Kobe-that he has) will be shot.
30 million for this garbage?

Ref's are raking us over the coals this game.
They need to call it EVEN, they were fouling us as much or more than us and still they have shot twice as many foul shots
Posted by: tomK | May 27, 2008 at 07:32 PM
I thought Odom Vowed to play his ass off tonight. He is the one guy that is a miss-match for the spurs. He only has 2 points ~!!!!!! Shit I could score more than two points. There is no way we're going to beat the spurs without him scoring in this game. Where is he? Anyone?

PJ, try Trevor Ariza in the 3rd Q to spread the fouls. I think Radman is in the groove, give him some screen and pop. If he misses there are three great rebounders inside Pau, LO and Kobe unless you want to give LO a longer rest and insert Mbenga.

Thanks, Milo. That's basically what i've been trying to do in these playoffs, bookmark ones that work. But I guess I'm too impatient...i tried all of 'em and none had the game in the early minutes (except that tnt.tv link), but one of these you sent is among them.
Best.
Posted by: onanoman | May 27, 2008 at 07:33 PM
Luke Walton is 4-9 1-3 on fts right now with 9 points. He should be 7-9 (missed layups) and 3-3 on fts for 17 points. That should be his stat line right now with the shots he is getting. So Lakers should be up 14, possbily even 17 since one of his missed layups lead to a transition and 1 fo r Parker.

kory........
when ever you want to have a phil jack-ass debate..........you let me know.....
you dont have a chance.......because you have your head so far up pj ass you cant see straight.
for every right that you can name that he does........I can name about 3 wrongs.

I am not one to complain bout fouls because for the most part things balances out, but damn, that was some really bad officiating in that first have. Duncan taking for step to get to the rim, tic tac fouls on their end while he have players being tackled with no calls...am i missin something?
Posted by: bonez | May 27, 2008 at 07:36 PM
Luke is OK for short minutes as long as his responsibilities are well defined Pass, Rebound and Dunk, he can manhandle Ginobli. In a game like this are you willing to roll the dice 50-50 or 70-30.

TOMK,
"not every player we have can be an all star, besides he has 9 points at the half, at this rate he could have 15 points this game"
POINTS MEAN NOTHING WHEN YOU ARE THE ONE RESPONSIBLE FOR CHANGING THE MOMENTUM. AS I ALWAYS GET ON KOBE WHEN HE HAS THIRTY SOMETHING POINTS AND THE TEAM IS LOSING.
IT'S NOT ABOUT THE POINTS BUT HOW YOU EFFECT THE MOMENTUM OF THE TEAM AND LUKE SINGLE HANDEDLY GAVE THE SPURS THE MOMENTUM TO GET BACK INTO THE GAME.
AS A COACH, IF YOU SEE A GUY IN THERE WITH LIMITED AMOUNT OF TALENT TO PLAY DEFENSE AND SCORE POINTS, IF HE'S KILLING MOMENTUM THERE'S NO REASON TO KEEP HIM IN THE GAME ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU GOT A GUY LIKE VLAD WHO HAS HAD A GREAT ALL AROUND SERIES.
VLAD SHOULD HAVE MORE MINUTES AND ARIZA WHO IS 500% BETTER THAN LUKE EVEN IF HE'S NOT IN GAME SHAPE.
Posted by: Gunner | May 27, 2008 at 07:37 PM
Maybe you didn't notice but Pau is doing a good job on Duncan and he is not able to get boards as easily as before.
