Our destiny awaits us fellow Lakers fans. These Lakers are much more fun to watch and cheer for than the Shaq/Kobe Lakers. Lakers all day, everyday!!! Lakers for life!!!

Kobe was a great leader tonigh, Lamar played great game too, next round will be tougher, but i hope Lakers players had learned how to win on the road. GO LAKER !

FOOLS GOLD VICTORY I SAY.
EVEN THOUGH TONIGHT'S VICTORY PUTS THE LAKERS IN THE BATTLE OF THE WESTERN CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP, I SAY IT'S STILL FOOLS GOLD. IF THE LAKER WOULD HAVE KEPT KWAME BROWN, THIS SERIES WOULD HAVE LASTED 4 GAMES, MAYBE 5.
DON'T GET TOO HAPPY BECAUSE IF ANDREW BYNUM WOULD HAVE NEVER GOTTEN HURT, KWAME BROWN WOULD STILL BE A LAKER AND THE LAKERS WOULD HAVE BEEN HOME RIGHT NOW WAITING FOR THE NEXT ROUND. THE LAKERS ARE LATE RIGHT NOW AND YOU'LL SOON SEE THAT THE GOLD IN YOUR HANDS WILL GET TOO HOT TO HANDLE.
OUT.

We are going to the WCF getting a hard earned win in the toughest building to play in and we are now 8-2 in the playoffs WITHOUT arguably our BEST interior defender/rebounder and a key perimeter defender and potential starter. Awesome Team.

Predicting The Lakers in 6 over The Jazz - $ 0
Taking "L"'s in games 3 & 4 - -$200
Winning game 6 - + $200
Winning the series - + $450
Watching Kobe do what only Kobe does in 4th qtrs and knowing how MILLIONS of Laker fans were going CRAZY the same time I was.....
PRICELESS !!!!!!!!!!

Great victory from the beginning. By the end of the game I have tres Miller Lite's in me so I was relaxed and chilling like I was in Cabo.
Get some rest, prepare mentally for round 3. Kobe needed the rest of his team to assist in the end. Team concept, don't just let Kobe take over. Help him out.
Colorado loves the Lakers!

If any of you guys have NBA league pass. You could find out who are the biggest Lakers haters: Peter Vescey, this guy is about to cry on air.

pfunk,
Are you saying Lamar's contributions weren't key? Kobe is Kobe, regarding scoring. But defense, rebounding, and the intangibles...that's Lamar's territory, and it made the difference in this series.
Posted by: troy | May 16, 2008 at 10:49 PM
I guess I saw another game, but Odom played a weak game, missing easy shots and non good stats. Pau today great game defensivily, and of course Kobe. Beside Bryant, one of the keys of this series was the Pau's intimidation over Bozzer, below his normal numbers. Did you guys pay attention about that?

Great game Lakers!
KOBE played another great 4th and we beat a great team in the Jazz next up naw-leans in 5!

Cool - a complex brotha sighting! Great game to see tonight - hope you're having a good one!!
NEXT UP - Spurs or Hornets. Personally, I think I'd like the Spurs, cuz the crown belongs to them right now & it would be nice to show them up, but either way it's going to be fun! I'm VERY glad we've got some days off for the boys to get healthy and rested up.
GO LAKERS!

Another key player, Derek Fisher. After that, Sasha V.
The most important players THIS series are
1. Lamar Odom
2. Kobe Bryant
3. Derek Fisher
4. SAsha V.
5. Pau Girlso

GOLAKE/JUSTIN N
Men I am VERY HAPPY!!!!! I"m aware that the Jazz weren't going to go away easy, I just didn't like at all THE WAY they were losing the lead, Pau flopping, teammates waiting way too long to come to Kobe when he was double teamed and picked up his dribble needing some help, not defensive rebounding at critical Utah misses....... but I digress... A win is a win is a win and I am in HIGH SPIRITS because we are advancing to WCF, we closed out UTAH inTHEIR GYM in front of their rude, whining, tantrum having, object throwing low class fans and we DONT" HAVE TO HEAR HUBIE GUSH over and over at every basket or routine play Utah makes...... I'm glad its over and am going to relax till next game.......LAKERS IN WCF!!!!! YESSSSS!!!! 8 more to go LAKER NATION!!!!!

Looks like the Jazz fans aren't stopping at throwing trash just at the Laker bench.
"Stranger In The Night" is trying to throw some on this blog as well.
Yo, Strange.........time for you to go. The last Greyhound bus to oblivion leaves SLC in about 30 minutes. You have a reserved seat 4 rows from the back. Sorry I couldn't get you a window seat, I didn't want to pay the extra $1.50 for you to press your ugly nose against the glass as you ride into the vast desert of despair.
See you next fall.

You think ODOM played a weak game??? Are you talking about LAMAR Odom??? In Game 6????
Are you high, man???
NO WAY we win this game without Lamar.
My suggestion to you is buy yourself a TiVo and watch some replays. Then give your 2 cents.

troy,
what happened when the Lakers guarded the 3 too closely?
Oh I guess you forgot that...well,we gave up 2 easy layups...
You cant take away everything. 3ptr is a low % shot. You will miss more than you make.
If you watch the NBA then you'll know 3ptrs will be made late in the game, but more often than not, it's too little too late.
The Jazz couldnt make 4 3ptrs in a row could they?
THANK YOU.
Case closed.

We looked like champions in the first half. I am really believing in this group this year.
I couldn't help tripping out on what a Laker hater Hubie Brown was being tonight. Does he always root for our opponents in such an obvious fashion? He sounded like a Jazz assistant coach with his perspective and analysis on everything.
Posted by: thehammer | May 16, 2008 at 11:01 PM
general strategy point:
The Jazz should have gone for a 2 pointer at the end of the game. Down 3 with 13 seconds to go, go for 2. The Lakers would have let them have that shot, as they would be afraid to foul. Once you hit it, you're down by 1 with about 7 seconds to go. This is a better scenerio, especially because even if you hit the low percentage 3 with time left, the best you can do is go to OT, and the Lakers have plenty of time to beat you at the end. By going for 2, worst case scenerio is Lakers hit both ft, which gives you time to tie in a better way, because the Lakers won't have time to beat you before OT. It also gives you a chance to WIN the game, if the Lakers miss a ft and you go for a last second 3....bad decision by Jazz at the end.

Hubie Brown is not a hater. he just tries to make the game interesting for the fans
after the game he was confident that the lakers will beat the spurs or the hornets
remember: he is not the lakers announcer.
also Pau is like one of his protegee
he just talks too much

When does next series start? Man, I can't wait..........
Posted by: pslakerfan | May 16, 2008 at 11:10 PM
Let me try to put all this in perspective. We won both games on the road in Round 1. We won one game on the road in Round 2. The Lakers have proved that they are a team that can win on the road in the Playoffs.
The Lakers have home court advantage in the Western Conference Finals. They are also a team that can win on the road. Whether the Lakers face the Spurs or the Hornets, it is advantage Lakers.
The Lakers are a team with five or six players in double figures almost every game. This makes the Lakers difficult to defend, no matter who they are playing.
Even though Kobe and Fish are the only Laker players to have played this deep into the Playoffs, the rest of the team now has impressive experience and confidence after winning Round 1 and Round 2. While the San Antonio players have been together longer as a unit and are Playoff tested, the Lakers after tonight have shown they have Playoff Poise, and are worthy opponents if it is the Spurs who go to the finals. If the Hornets move to the finals, they lack tested leaders like Kobe and Fish.
This is our year. This is our team. Go Lakers!

TO Mamba24Fan4life :
Exactly correct on Vescey!! Man's been a Laker Hater forever. I remember when the Lakers had 13 point 4th quarter comeback at home against Portland in the 2000 WCF game 7 and he was one of the halftime/aftergame analysts for ABC or CBS or whomever it was and he was redfaced and angry and on camera with the other analysts complained and riled about a play where Steve Smith of Portland late in the 4th quarter (after the Lakers completed the comeback and took the lead) went for a layup against Shaq( that might have tied it or given Portland a 1 point lead with just a few seconds left) and threw himself into Shaq's chest and bounced off and Shaq blocked or changed the shot making it miss I believe and Smith went sprawling (like most do when they throw themselves into Shaq) to the floor. The refs let it go rightfully so as a "no-call" and Vescey ranted that the league needs to find a ref the has the GUTS to make that foul call. He was quickly let go by ABC or whomever it was he worked for at the time and is still the same NY bitter bastard LA hater he was 8 years ago. He's toned down his act because none of the major networks want him and he's now with NBA TV (btw, NBA TV' needs some better guys than Vescey and whomever is on right now... both very uninteresting and unenthusiastic on their reports, critiques, reviews.... ) Also... Vescey is and always HAS been an NY Knick fan for life so you can see why he's miserable and hating L.A's success.. He probably banked on NY with Isiah and Eddy 285lbs and 6'11 inches of 6 rebounds a game Curry and all those other overpriced overrated players on that team to restore the Knicks to glory. Lmao!!! It is not exactly working out for NY Knicks much this entire millenium is it???

=== ok, it's official, troy is crazy!!! ===
Pau Gasol was LESS important in this series than Derek Fisher and Sasha Vujacic...
You mean, the same guy who averaged a double double for the series?
The same guy who averaged multiple blocks per game this series?
They guy who had 20/10 and 4 blocks in a close-out game?
You so busy hating on Pau, that you dont give him credit for ballin. Aint nobody perfect, buy you hatin.
Sasha Vujacic was better than Pau Gasol this series!...ahahahahahahaha
The Lakers won so I guess you can have your fun troy.
it's all good.

Lakers are on fire!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE LA
Posted by: clashrocker | May 16, 2008 at 11:19 PM
Great win. And I for one think it was played perfectly. If the Jazz were all that (no pun intended), then they would have been hitting all those threes when the game was still in doubt. They couldn't make them when under the pressure of the Lakers, the game, the situation, the fans, the coaches, and more importantly through the pressure of themselves.
When you are down double-digits at the end of a game, there is no more pressure when you shoot. Every three at that point feels like an open three because no one is going to complain about you shooting outside the context of some established offensive scheme. No one is going to complain about you shooting too early in the shot clock.
You can shoot freely. This is the reason teams can make so many in the final seconds of games that they trail in.
The point is to find the courage to weather that storm. Those guts come at the free throw line. I think the Lakers made their final 11 free throws in a row.
That is poise. That is what the Lakers have shown in spades throughout this whole series.
This was a perfect game.
Hands down.

Man. Last time I checked we won the game. If people want to pick out flaws, I guess they can go nuts, but I can't believe they are actually going to get into arguments about it. Lakers won. If you had been told before the game that this exact sequence of events was going to unfold, you would have been an idiot to suggest corrections, because there is no way the situation could improve. Obviously, the Lakers are doing just fine without your endless criticism. Get over it and just enjoy the victory.
I honestly don't know who I prefer, San Antonio or New Orleans, except I believe San Antonio has less to offer as a tourist destination. In terms of basketball teams, we can beat them both. Honestly, I was looking forward to beathing Phoenix at some point, but I guess I'll get over it.

Food for Thought...
While tucked away in my cave and watching the game like an obsessed NERD.. I did notice just exactly what Laker Tom, myself and a number of others have brought up in the last couple of months.. We REALLY need Drew in the middle.. No Offense, Love Pau.. he fits our squad like strawberry jam and peter pan.. but.. ummmm I dont really know how to say this without someone taking it wrong so I'll just say it... for a big, he's not aggressive enough... in the short time we were able to see Drew play this year.. there was NO QUESTION where he was going with the ball... Pau tries that soft finger roll, lay in, euro BS and it isnt his fault.. but he needs to have that.. in the paint INCREDIBLE HULK attitude.. its not in his game or nature so it will really be off the hook next season having him at PF and Drew in the middle cleaning up all the nonsense... Ok.. I'm done babbling through my buzz.. I'm going back to the cave and watch the 4th qtr again.. Kobe made some shots that I'm STILL trippin over!!!!
Posted by: complex brotha | May 16, 2008 at 11:29 PM
Woohoo!
Western Conference Finals, Baby!
I predicted a double-digit lead in the 1st Qtr and a win by 10 or more. 1 out of 2 aint bad. I'm so happy that we finally closed it out... on their floor... the silence of the classless Utah fans for most of the game was indeed golden. It was a good tune-up for our next opponents. They should know not to let up in the second half cuz the Hornets, if we meet them, are a good 2nd half team.
Meantime, rest up, Lakeshow. See you in the WCF!
Go Lakers!

Stranger in the Night:
Goodbye!! Your post is the usual hilariously moronic kind of post we expect from your kind-TROLLS!! Having never seen you anywhere on this BLOG the entire game( or probably the entire year) your credibility is worth absolutely nothing. We here at the Laker Nation understand that you probably do this to ANY team that is winning and advancing. Good for you!!! It's pathetic and sad and laughable that you need to get attention this way, but if it works for you then we're all very very happy for you. So feel free to post your nonsensical rantings where ever you want. We'll just keep on watching the Lakers advance while you keep being miserable...

WTG Lakers!!!
I don't care if we win every game by 1 point in triple overtime - a win is a win!!! What a difference a year (and a nice athletic F/C) makes, Last year, we limped into the first round and never had a shot. This year, we're playing in the WC Finals with an MVP, a healthy Lamar, and a group of players who've almost forgotten the meaning of the word 'can't'.
Celebrate kids! Forget the almost comeback, forget the jerky fans, forget the inconsistent play by the bench mob. Tonight is the night to exult in all things purple and gold, It's nights like tonight that should remind you why you log in here every day, check the boxscores and put up with the annoying negativity of Joel & Stu during our rough patches, Be happy - there'll be plenty of time to analyze the good, the bad & the ugly in the next few days. Tonight however - Lakers baby!!!!! Be a dumb homer fan for a few hours, strap on the purple and gold colored glasses, tip a beer and get ready for a wild and crazy ride into the Finals.
8 More Wins to Get to Heaven Baby!!!

Cbuck,
You are offensive sir.
You are as classless as the Jazz fans with your ignorant idiotic comments.
If I had to guess, only 30-40% of those fans at ESA are Mormon. Yes, I wholeheartedly agree that Jazz fans as a whole are idiots and classless fans. Unfortunately, a few idiots give that rep to an entire group. But for you to attack a religion is not just ignorant, but pathetic.
Not only that but your accusations are wrong and misled. Get a life. It's like attacking Jews for classles fans at MSG, or attacking Baptists for classless fans in Charlotte etc. etc.
But besides that, you are my Laker Brother, so show some love, not hate.
GO LAKERS WCF!!!

Why even argue with him bro.
Posted by: Paul Lee | May 16, 2008 at 11:32 PM
THERE IS ONLY ONE KOBE BRYANT…
And thankfully, he still wears purple and gold and plays hoops for the LA Lakers. We saw in tonight’s game, the first two rounds of the playoffs, and the NBA regular season that the Lakers are blessed to have Kobe Bryant in his prime and playing his career best. Talk about taking the ball to the rim and putting the pressure on the Jazz defense. Kobe controlled this game from start to finish, toying with a host of Jazz defenders who could never keep him from penetrating the paint and totally destroying the Jazz interior defense. 34/8/6 on just 19 shots with 15 of 17 free throws and a clutch pair of 3-point scores down the stretch were just another MVP performance for KB24. On to the conference finals. Where again there will be only one Kobe Bryant.
THE LAKERS LEARNING HOW TO CLOSE…
That’s 2-0 in closeout opportunities for the Lakers in the 2008 playoffs. While Boston and New Orleans failed to close out their playoff series with 6th game road losses, the Lakers continued their season long trend of improving each game. They lost their first road playoff game to Utah by 5 points, took their second playoff road game to overtime, and finally broke through to win their third road playoff game leading Utah wire to wire. As was pointed out by another poster, the Lakers now account for 1/3 of Utah’s total home losses. That is a real tribute to the Lakers growing confidence and ability to close.
KUDOS TO THE JAZZ FOR A TOUGH SERIES…
You have to respect that the Jazz never quit and actually had a couple of pretty good shots to tie the game and send it into overtime, which could have been disastrous for the Lakers. So give a lot of credit to Jerry Sloan and the Jazz, even though they are still one of the dirtiest and most physical teams in the league. DWill is a force and Mehmet Okur can shoot the eyes out of the basketball and is much tougher than I gave him credit for. Harpring brings it every game and AK47 is a poor man’s Lamar Odom. The player the Jazz needed to show up was Carlos Boozer, who was clearly outplayed by Lamar Odom and Pau Gasol, who turned the league’s top power forward into a non-factor.
THE JAZZ CHAMPIONSHIP WINDOW JUST CLOSED…
That was the loud boom you heard as the final horn sounded in Salt Lake City tonight. Forget the big advantage that the Utah enjoyed on the defensive and offensive boards in this series because next year the reign of Andrew Bynum begins and the Lakers become dominant with the Bynum-Gasol-Odom front court to go with the championship-proven Bryant-Fisher backcourt. Throw in Trevor Ariza as our defensive stopper, a revitalized Chris Mihm as our “first round” pick, and maybe 6-9 point guard Sun Yue from China. Our under 25 crew of Bynum, Ariza, Vujacic, Farmar, and Turiaf will continue to get better and we may see a number of key veteran players looking to win a championship. Williams and Boozer are going to end up title-less just like Stockton and Malone.
BRING ON THE SAN ANTONIO SPURS…
There is something to be said about beating the defending champion. I for one would like to see the Spurs upset the Hornets on Monday night so the Lakers could have the opportunity to take the Spurs out personally. We missed that chance with the Suns and it doesn’t seem right that we should also miss ousting the Spurs. I actually think that the Spurs will give the Lakers more trouble than the Hornets but this may be the last hurrah for the Spurs and I would like us to be the team that kicks them back into the pack. In any event, Spurs or Hornets, it won’t matter. Lakers in 6 games regardless of which team.

"Are you saying Lamar's contributions weren't key? Kobe is Kobe, regarding scoring. But defense, rebounding, and the intangibles...that's Lamar's territory, and it made the difference in this series".
I never said Lamar wasn't key........But MVP??
Everything revolves around Kobe.......Kobe has been the best player in the playoffs......Period. In either conference
Did you know he had 5 staight games with at least 30 points 6 rebounds and 6 assists?
These are historic numbers.......not even MJ had numbers like that......in the playoffs
.....and you want to give L.O. MVP??
Come on troy.........you're better than that!

chuck23,
>>>The Lakers need to start looking for a solid backup for
>>>DFish next year because Farmar lacks the fortitude to
>>>keep us ahead in the western conference.
I beg to differ. Jordan is in his second year at point guard,
which is the hardest position to play at the NBA level. And
because he has been behind a seasoned vet this post
season, and Fisher is playing VERY well, Jordan has
never been in a game for very long. He's also shot poorly
(in limited shot attempts), which has probably hurt his
confidence a bit.
In the regular season, Jordan was getting 20 minutes a
game, which is enough time to establish a rhythm & get
into the flow of the game. Thus in the regular season,
he got 9.1 points a game shooting 46% overall and 37% on
3-pointers.
Then against Denver, PJ shortened the rotation, so Jordan
got only 16 minutes a game against Denver, and then 13
minutes a game against Utah, and with each progressive
reduction in minutes, he performed poorer.
I hope the Lakers have at least one blowout game in the
WCF, as it would be nice for Jordan to get to play the
whole fourth quarter to get some shots in and get his
confidence back. The Lakers would have a much easier
time against Detroit or Boston if Jordan was playing like
he played during the regular season when the finals
roll along.
But I still say that there will be at least one game in these
playoffs when Farmar makes some solid contributions.
Remember all those end-of-quarter threes at the end of
the season and the first round? Expect to see a couple
in the next round.
