Boston couldn't win on the road earlier, nor New Orleans last night. Here's hoping third time is the proverbial charm.

Okay, ESPN finally switched over..... thanks for those that helped

Gasol's missed two easy ones. He's got to do better if the Lakers are to win this one. Go Lakers!
Posted by: Rick Friedman | May 16, 2008 at 07:56 PM
6:08 left in the first, and I am sure the Lakers are going to win this game.
Posted by: phred | May 16, 2008 at 07:56 PM
i love it when vladdy changes up his game and becomes two-dimensional
good start for the lakes
Posted by: CBuck | May 16, 2008 at 07:57 PM
YES...If vlad is going to play like this we might as well stop wasting time and come home cause this one is over!
Posted by: bonez | May 16, 2008 at 07:57 PM
WOW - Vlade - nice first step boyy!! More of that and this will be a looooong night for the Jizz!
Posted by: justanothermambafan | May 16, 2008 at 07:57 PM
Vindication for Fisher!
GO LAKERS!
Posted by: BocaLakerGurl | May 16, 2008 at 07:57 PM
Yes.. Good start so far.... just have to be able to withstand the inevitable runs that the Jazz will go on later. Great inside defensive activity by Pau. Bad dunk attempt by Pau that Okur with the achilles injury blocked (aren't you supposed to not be able to jump with a bad achilles???) Odom looking agressive and ready as is "TRIPLE OCHO." So far so good......
Posted by: jhnlannery | May 16, 2008 at 07:58 PM
phred - I'm sure too - we've got this one!

Milo, you're a lifesaver! Many thanks for the link!
The Boys in Purple and Gold look good on both ends so far! Here's to a night off on Monday!
Posted by: onanoman | May 16, 2008 at 08:00 PM
Good focus tonight so far... defense is alert and the Lakers look poised.....
Posted by: jhnlannery | May 16, 2008 at 08:01 PM
MAN - our starting 5 are focused out there! Totally under control - this is awesome to witness. It should really help the bench gain the confidence they will need when they enter the game.
Posted by: justanothermambafan | May 16, 2008 at 08:01 PM
PJ sticking with gasol
prove him right, pau
Posted by: CBuck | May 16, 2008 at 08:02 PM
This is great...Keep this intensity and aggressiveness up and Kobe can have 5 days to rest...
Posted by: BocaLakerGurl | May 16, 2008 at 08:02 PM
Great pass from Pau to Lamar
Posted by: KimD | May 16, 2008 at 08:02 PM
my bad...thought gasol had two fouls
Posted by: CBuck | May 16, 2008 at 08:03 PM

the mormons are restless!!!
are those boos i detect?
Posted by: CBuck | May 16, 2008 at 08:04 PM
A Win tonite would do wonders for the Laker Psyche. Beating Utah in Utah , in the playoff atmosphere.... to quote Tank, "these are exciting times..."
Posted by: marco | May 16, 2008 at 08:05 PM
Okay, we must get this lead to 20 and keep it there.
Posted by: troy | May 16, 2008 at 08:06 PM
Great start! Lakers have been playing defense that would make Faith proud!
They've really taken that obnoxious crowd out of the game so far.
Keep it up Lakers!!!
Posted by: Bzar | May 16, 2008 at 08:06 PM
Yesss!!! The JAZZ are shooting terrible percentage so far... I like it.. The JAZZ look tight and unfocused....... Lakers D playing well so far and rebounding is better than average for us against this team thus far. I had a feeling the JAZZ were due for a low percentage shooting field goal game as they had 3 great onesin a row (for them). We keep up the rebounding and D and hopefully keep Kobe from having to "take over" and we WILL win this one. Kobe's lift is a little better but he's not all the way there, espcially on that last jump shot
Posted by: jhnlannery | May 16, 2008 at 08:08 PM
We really need to keep the pressure on tho
Posted by: bonez | May 16, 2008 at 08:09 PM
Dang!! Offensive rebounds again killing us!
Posted by: jhnlannery | May 16, 2008 at 08:10 PM
so harpring gets blocked twice and then gets bailed out by the refs and it's the kind of possession the Jazz need? I don't even know if Hubie or Tirico said that, but they're really reaching.
Posted by: phred | May 16, 2008 at 08:11 PM
SASHA is working tonite
Posted by: BocaLakerGurl | May 16, 2008 at 08:13 PM
Poor coaching to end the quarter. They should have set the play up for Sasha, not Luke. Lazy effort on Phil's part.
Posted by: troy | May 16, 2008 at 08:13 PM
One turnover in the first?
Awesome poise these guys are playing with.
GO LAKERS!!
Posted by: Happy Camper | May 16, 2008 at 08:13 PM
phantom whistle on the Farmar foul... but I like our interior defensive focus.. only ONE turnover by the Lakers and 50% FG to Utah's 33% loooking good after quarter one Laker Nation.
Posted by: jhnlannery | May 16, 2008 at 08:13 PM
Sort of a side thing, but I'm really glad the Lakers don't have some lame mascot running around Staples.....whatever that thing is for the Jizz is pitiful.
Posted by: justanothermambafan | May 16, 2008 at 08:14 PM
36 more minutes just like the first 12! Go Lakers!
Posted by: Rick Friedman | May 16, 2008 at 08:14 PM
Foot on the throat.
The Jazz: where classless fans happens
Posted by: Tim-4-Show | May 16, 2008 at 08:15 PM
Let's see what the bench has got tonight. Quarter 2 coming up with a 13 point lead.
Posted by: WWJWWD | May 16, 2008 at 08:15 PM
Apologies for the "offensive rebounds killing us" post fans that should have been "Defensive rebounds" was posted right after Harprings attempts to layup...
Posted by: jhnlannery | May 16, 2008 at 08:15 PM
there is no reason to complain
Go Lakers
Posted by: Zin Master | May 16, 2008 at 08:16 PM

Gotta love the Bench right now- This is the dominating bench we've all come to know and love.
