Click below the jump for clips of George Karl, Allen Iverson, and PJ. Apparently, our first go with Phil was all of 10 seconds long. I can assure you he spoke for at least 20.

Lol at Mark Jackson's pound for pound comment on AI.
I'm glad Van Gundy ripped him on that one.

oh, and some people were talking about farmar's 3pointer at the buzzer. . i only saw it twice but it seemed as if sasha would of had to rushed his shot to get it off in time if farmar had passed to him
http://youtube.com/watch?v=3z-6N2e1hag
he seems to get the ball with bout 1.5 seconds left so if he'd have passed in my view sasha would of definitely had to rush his shot
what do you guys think?

Kwame for MVP:
http://tinyurl.com/4rujjt
they give some love to Luke Walton but... I thought Denver was going right at Walton every time they had the ball? Maybe I was watching a different game...
How about bringing Kwame back as backup Center next year? Why not? He should be cheap, dude knows our system, the guys like him and he's a physical presence. Just a thought...

Ajax,
Pure accident. Thought it was pushed through the first time. It's live now.
By the way, pre-ordered season six of "The Shield" yesterday!

Elle,
WTF? Weren't you suppose to be planning the Lakers 818 viewing party?
Posted by: Charles | April 21, 2008 at 03:49 PM
TaosHum,
Kwame is not as bad as everyone made him out to be. That said, why do we need Kwame when we have MBenga? I would rather have Mbenga than Kwame.
I believe the potential for MBenga is greater. Had we got him a little bit earlier during the regular season, Jabbar would have been able to work with him a little bit to improve his game.

Rick,
I removed the last two W's. Coz they won't get much of that in this series...

Great win for the Lakers yesterday.
There were so many positives to look at; Lamar in particular. The guy is playing the best that he ever has as a Laker. He understands the Triangle now and he's exploiting it to his advantage almost at will as the third option. It's just a great thing to see him come do his thing out there the way we know he can. He was like Magic leading those breaks. When he was grabbing at his knee I almost had a heart attack.
Pau Gasol was tremendous just converting all those layups Kwame would bobble around, and grabbing boards. Luke Walton stepped his game up like a true Laker. I especially liked when JR Smith tried to take him out, only to be pushed down on his ass. I did not like how everyone was all saying sorry and stuff after a hard foul. This is the playoffs, it's ok to squabble a little bit. I'm thinking it won't be all hunky dory in these coming games between these teams.
Now, we're cool right now without Bynum. And I like the fact that our team does not have to rely on the 20 year old anymore. He's been out quite a long time though and it just sucks that we will not be able to see what this team could've been.
Keep it up Lamar! Stay Healthy!
Go Lakers!

Kareem is trying to steal the Lakers Blog's limelight over at his blog!
Kidding, but it's a good read about the Lakers and the Denver game.

Please don’t think anymore. The results are not good. Your blogging rights have been revoked until after the next game or until you regain your sanity. Anybody who thinks bringing back Smush or Kwame is a good move needs immediate professional help. jk.
Go sit in the corner and say 1,000 hail Pau’s and beg forgiveness from the blog, LOL.

Kwame? Please, no.
I'd rather keep Mbenga.

WHY THE LAKERS NEED ANDREW BYNUM…
I was as thrilled as anybody when the Lakers traded for Pau Gasol and he has been even better than I thought he would be playing in the Lakers Triangle Offense. His inaugural playoff performance as a Laker yesterday against the Nuggets was simply sensational. Talk about a complete turnaround from Kwame Brown who could not catch and finish, Pau is the perfect fit for the Lakers – but the position is power forward, not center.
I read an article this morning where the journalist was comparing the Kobe and Shaq Lakers teams to the Kobe and Pau Lakers team that crushed the Nuggets on Sunday. While Pau is no slouch at center, there is no way that you can compare him to Shaq in his prime, as much as I currently dislike Shaquille O’Neal as a player and a person. There would be no way that Shaq in his prime would allow the Nuggets to score 60 points in the paint in a playoff game. Maybe the Shaq of today, but not the three-peat Shaq.
That’s right: 60 points in the paint scored on the Lakers defense by the Nuggets. The exact same amount of points that the Lakers vaunted Triangle Offense produced at the other end in a seemingly endless procession of easy layups and dunks. That is why Phil made his pointed comments about how he liked the win but not the way we played. By allowing easy penetration, layups, and offensive boards, the Lakers basically gave away their advantage in the paint. That is why the game was just a 14-point win and not 30.
While I do expect Phil to plug some of the holes and for the team to play much better defense against penetration in the game on Wednesday, I also do not see the problem being solved until Andrew Bynum returns to the lineup, which hopefully will be during the second round sometime so that he could be ready to start in the conference finals. Without Drew, the Lakers are still formidable because Pau and Lamar have done a great job filling in and should be able to continue to do through the second round.
The problem is that Pau and Lamar may not be enough for the Lakers to beat the Suns or Spurs in the conference finals or the Celtics or Pistons in the Finals. The parity between these five top teams is such that any one of them could very easily win the championship. Drew is the factor that destroys the parity and makes the Lakers clearly the most talented and biggest team in the NBA. That is why we need Drew to win it all this year.

Greatest thing about Lamar's game on Sunday: He consistently had open outside shots, and instead either drove to the basket or passed inside. He was only seduced by the dark side to take (and miss) those 20-footers once or twice. The rest of the time, pure gold.

Laker Tom...
My compliments on another thoughtful and well-written piece. In my humble opinion, with respect to Mamba24 the keeper of the various bandwagons, you'd have my vote for MVP of this Lakers Blog. Keep up the good work. Keep up the good writing.

LakerTom,
"Kobe and Shaq Lakers teams to the Kobe and Pau Lakers team "
Sounds like they were comparing the teams as wholes, not just the duos. I think that it is a reasonable theoretical discussion, although obviously this roster needs to win something for a comparison to be valid.
The three-peat didn't have a "third wheel" playing at the level Odom is right now. Assume, for the sake of argument, a reasonable level of consistency from Vlad. Sasha is a better three-point shooter off the bench than anyone from the three-peat, although Horry had that knack for the clutch. This group has more energy, but less experience/smarts. Not as good defensively, but when they keep their focus on defense they are pretty good. I think that this team is better offensively overall - Kobe is a much better all-around offensive player now. I think this team could give the three-peat a run for their money. (Could being the operative word - we'll have to see how they gel as a playoff team, particularly defensively.)

TaosHum,
I guess LakerTom was right in barring Kwame and Smush, many people on this blog will get depress just mentioning the memories of the Lakers Dark Ages. These were the years when players have glue on their shoes, can't move their feet even by few cms., they have olive oil on their hands. We have sworn here never again shall we delve on misadventures, even Mitch Kupchak agrees with us.

I like Coach George's response to the question of :
'Will you try to do something different on Gasol....I mean he really tore you up.'
"I don't know that it was Gasol. I think the film will show that it was the L.A. Lakers that tore us up."
