Looking for a Masters golfer to support?

Might I recommend Hunter Mahan? A huge Lakers fan, Mahan has actually used some of the most important real estate a golfer has to offer- his head covers- to sport his purple and gold pride. Three knit club toppers in purple and gold, featuring numbers 24, 16, and 17 mean the Orange, CA native is flying the right colors this week at Augusta.
Click below for the pics. But if you're going to send him some good vibes, do it quick. Currently +5, Mahan is in danger of missing the cut.

That's effing suite.
Good vibes being sent as I type.

Apparently he likes Under Armor clothing as well.

Those club-covers look like they were stitched over the weekend by his grandmother.
There has to be some better looking Laker club-covers out there somewhere.

LAKER TRUTH = Hater
Nice covers. He's a good player too.
Vibeage is emanating as I speak.
He's probably not playing well because he's thinking about the game tonight.

>>>>Tonight is more than an opportunity for a W. It is more than an opportunity to move up in the Western Conference standings. It is a chance to definitively assure Kobe the MVP trophy, as much as anything can.
Every one of Kobe's team mates as the obligation to make CP3's life a Holy Living Hell for 48 minutes. Shut him down both offensively and defensively. The entire Starting 5 needs to come out swinging, focused, determined, and dedicated to air-tight Defense.
No more pablum about how the MVP trophy doesn't mean anything. Sure it does.<<<<
I am sure all the supporting casters tossed and turned all night long trying to figure out how they can improve as players and as human beings so they can help their beloved leader win his MVP.
Real sure.

In case anybody wanted to be sad again today:
Trevor still not healed.
http://my.lakers.com/blogs/2008/04/11/ariza-still-healing/
Must've been a really bad break, or this dude isn't taking a calcium supplement like he should. I broke my right wrist with a 75lb dumbbell last Sep as was out of the hard cast in 6 weeks and back to working out full strength by Dec. 12 weeks total recovery time. How far along is Trev? He's at 12 weeks and 5 days. Most likely the guy's just a slow healer. It's unfortunate that the timing stinks.
Posted by: | April 11, 2008 at 01:10 PM
So he can't get out of the first round either, huh?
Those covers must be his good luck charms.
Posted by: HAB | April 11, 2008 at 01:12 PM
Very nice....now my questions is...what the hell am I doing in taking on about $100k in debt while in law school when I can make millions playing golf????
What in the hell????? Somebody like to offer up some lessons?

Before I head home I have a heartfelt request for my Lakers...
Please...please...please play some serious defense tonight, come out with the most energy and passion you've ever played with and make this one hell of a game. 6 hours and counting...we love you, we support you...but we also demand grateness from a great team.
The MVP of this league will be made tonight. We must win.

That's got to be a pretty cool gig. Golf all day, Lakers all night. And I don't even play golf, but I'm just saying: playing outdoors, watchin' sports... it's like being a little kid again.

"Those club-covers look like they were stitched over the weekend by his grandmother."
That's what makes them cool! The NBA needs more appreciation for homemade fan expression and less infatuation with officially licensed merchandise.
Posted by: The D | April 11, 2008 at 01:40 PM
His current play sounds to me like he doesn't want to miss the NOH and SAS games this weekend......he will probably be @ Staples on Sunday.
AK/BK - look out for him there......maybe an interview candidate for the blog or your Wednesday show???

Oh c'mon. Those covers are just plain raggedy. It looks like a sock glued onto a Koosh Ball. Here are some nice Laker golf covers.

I'm hopeful that this unfortunate news about TA will somehow motivate the team to buckle down and do the best with what they've got. I would much rather play Denver than Dallas in the opening round. NO has to play at Sacramento the night after us, and then at Dallas on the second of a back to back. It's not impossible that they lose these three games. If we do end up with the same record as NO, who owns the tie-breaker?
Posted by: Laker Kev | April 11, 2008 at 02:09 PM
Nice! They do look homemade, but you can't dispute the love for the P&G. Good luck Hunter!
I wonder if he posts here?? :P

I don't think you're a hater. Maybe just a bit judgmental on the knitting tip?

Is there a "replace the entire training staff ASAP" banwagon? It's so sad, it's almost turning comical. This crew is singlehandedly killing a budding dynasty. Whatever they are doing, IT IS NOT WORKING. Here are some of the casualties of this inept crew:
Karl Malone
Shaq
Chris Mihm
Luke Walton
Andrew Bynum
Trevor Ariza
Nobody EVER comes back on time or earlier from injuries. Thank goodness Kobe has his own personal trainers, or he might not be playing as well.

the sock covers are way better.

Maybe so, but would you be the type to insult your grandmother after she took the time to knit them especially for you?
Quite possibly the USGA prohibits advertising of certain products; including pro leagues and pro teams. Maybe that was why Payne Stewart only wore color matching clothing of any local NFL team for tournaments he participated in and not specific team logos.

This video still makes me jump off my seat:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FR7Z1Pq2s5I
And there's a few things that make me really happy watching it:
1. The face of the Spurs players at the end (especially Tim duncan)
2. The fact that the announcer says, "the Spurs could have been down 3-2 going into LA, but now they're up 3-2" and 0.4 seconds later Fisher shuts him up.
3. The smirk on Phil Jackson's face as he's walking downcourt.
4. How all the Lakers players just ran into the locker room.
5. NBA Officials can be really stupid. Tim Duncan took either four or five steps and they didn't call a travel on him. This probably would have made me absolutely furious if it had cost the Lakers the game, but since it gave Fisher the chance to win the game, oh well...

Bad reports back to back on Andrew and Trevor are the worst back to back losses we've suffered this year. I still believe that Andrew will be back before the first round begins, but I'm not to sure about Trevor. Time for the Lakers to buckle down and end the regular season strong and with some momentum heading into the playoffs. Go Lakers!!!

Thanks for the link. Rosalyn Sanchez and Selma Blair ain't bad to see. Sophia Vergara looked like she's been eating too much.
Kobe grabbing his crotch... Looks like he was holding back from doing the Early 90's east coast bounce with a little bit of Nor Cal Hypie...

Heard it on the Cannon's, MT said that he had the same injury as Bynum (disclocated kneecap) and he was back playing within 4 weeks... Either there is more than just a dislocated kneecap, or the guy I hate to say, may be a career injury prone dude....Oh no

LakerTruth - That Lakers head cover is already sitting on my hibore driver in my yellow bag which also contains my cleveland cg gold irons with the sweet yellow insert.
The reason why the knit headcovers are so popular is b/c nicklaus used them. My dad even ordered a set.

The more Gary Vitti gets exposed for his outdated and inefffectice training regimen, the more I blame him for the Lakers loss against the Pistons. We win that series with a healthy Malone instead of an outmatched Slava.

Laker-Kev,
The LAKERS own the tie-breaker with NO by virtue of better Conference record. I'ts not very remote that we can end up being on top of WC.

Gino-
For the love of Betsy, and for the last time-
Bynum had a dislocated kneecap, but he ALSO had a major bone bruise on his knee, and that's the kicker.

Did you catch when Karl Malone was on Fox Sports Net stating that he was misdiagnosed for his knee injury? They didn't diagnose the whole knee and just the lower half. He was on the bike thinking he was to improve his range, but was actually hurting the knee.
I recall that season to be injury filled too. Gary Payton was the only starter at one point playing against Sacramento with Shaq, Grant, Malone, and Kobe out. I recall that 1990's Sport Coat/Blazer shoulder pad from Millers Outpost - Chess King - Oak Tree on Kobe...

... Sorry ... cancel my request to shut it down -- I forgot we are second in the west ...
How crazy has this year been?? I just can't imagine how good this team can be when (if?) everyone is healthy at once.
Posted by: HmrHed | April 11, 2008 at 03:54 PM
laker hopeful,
Duncan is allowed to take 4 or 5 steps if he's dribbling the ball! Duncan did not travel on that play.
Shaq rode the wrong shoulder on that play..Shaq should have blocked it.
That year just reminds me of the horrible finals..I would rather forget that year.
Posted by: zen | April 11, 2008 at 03:58 PM
Charles,
I recall that back then --he went to his own doctor to get the right diagnosis.

The body makes a joint swell to protect it from being used – Kind of like a natural padding. If AB’s knee is still swelling, it tells me that his knee is not right and the underlying problem is not solved. You can try to bring the swelling down – but the body will fight it and knows when to stop on its own, if the underlying issue is addressed.
Anyway – I’ve seen MASH too many times.
