Faith: you're right. We need to demonstrate some seriously team-oriented defense. No easy dunks. No lob passes over the top. And when those guards come down the middle... DJ needs to use up his six fouls. Make 'em count, DJ!
I have faith in these Lakers. Kobe has immense will.
top of the morning to everyone. i'd like to say that i had to get up early just to watch the lakers at the ungodly hour of 12:30, but I was already awake. early to bed, early whatever, as they say
I have no room for arguing with negative nellies today. the lakers are not perfect, they are not even healthy. 7 foot guys put a lot of weight on their legs and tend to get hurt. what can you do? be careful with them and wait for the playoffs.
the playoffs. remember them? there isn't much doubt that the lakers are going after all. there was when drew went down, but not now. so cheer up.
another thing that experienced playoff players do is not waste all their energy in march playing at their absolute hardest just because one or two of their best really tall guys went down. they save a little, because they know that games just don't matter as much until you are in a best of 7.
if the lakers don't win it all this year (assuming at least pau or drew comes back, and nobody else gets hurt), it won't be because they lost to a couple of overachieving teams in march. it will because another, well prepared team with playoff experience outplayed them.
and then they can get back in the gym this summer, take their liquid sea minerals and tic tac toe or whatever, run on the zero g treadmill, win the olympics, and come back next year, where all of us loyal fans who haven't given up will still be waiting.
I will go with you. DEFENSE No matter what the odds are, as long as Kobe is playing, Lakers has the chance of winning. Play with heart and we'll win today.
To add furthermore, in the short run Lakers will struggle but in the long run by play offs in April when Drew, Pau, Trevor and Mihm will be healthy, that will be our time to shine brighter.
Laker fans unite under one flag. One voice, one objective.
Yesterday morning, Hacksaw basically said that Bynum won't be back this year. He said he's only been in the pool 3 times and on the treadmill once. Is this reliable information or is Hacksaw literally just counting how many times it's been reported that Drew's been in the pool and on the treadmill rather than inferring that this is the regimen, not specific instances?
Defense & level of effort/intensity is the key to success.
Let us all keep the.... Faith.
Let's go!!!!... oh yeah, BK, I saw you on TV during the last game. You should wear a shirt that has the blog address on it so fans at home can log on... or have it say "Laker Blog Bandwagon" or something catchy, ha ha ha.
Why do I feel like today is the day we see the Fat Man Nagasaki of basketball unleashed??
Duck and cover... or at least abstain from eating for a few hours... this could give us all indigestion. One way or the other, this is going to be a sweat fest....
Lakers can beat Houston, both teams did not have big man, Mutombo can't play 40 min. It depends on Phil, how he going to use each players ? Lamar will play better ? or he will continue to show he does'n want to be the number 2 guy behind Kobe? GO LAKERS!
I will say again as my last post did not make the blog. Probably to late last night.
So, we still have the 15th spot on the roster and we have Jelani McCoy in the D League. Why not call him up for 10 day contract(s) until our bigs get back. Since we play the triangle in D League he could contribute right away.
After our bigs come back send McCoy back down and sign Ira Newble for defense or Green for development.
Thanks for your insights. I think they give us a glimpse of the future.
Kobe may not be the nicest guy, he may not be the best leader ever, and he may have personal objectives that taint his play or the impression that he casts.
However, there's a monumental difference between the "short comings" of Kobe and the stuff you're talking about out in Ohio.
Kobe is driven by the desire to be the best... ever. If he makes people mad in doing that, well that's just too bad. But when you shift the emphasis from winning and being the greatest ever to making the most money just for money's sake, I think it's safe to say there will be a difference at some point in how the players train, act, think, and play.
Again, Jon, I appreciate your takes. It really put things into some level of perspective... the stuff you're taking about and what I'm mentioning are much bigger than the players and their games. It's a much deeper level, and I think it forshadows what will happen in the coming years....

Hacksaw's "just off the wire" information is basically useless. He's been wrong so many times, I won't even mention it.
However, and this is anecdotal so take it for what it's worth, one of the guys at a poker game I was playing at last night said he saw Bynum at a gym he works out at. he asked Drew about the knee and Bynum said he's on schedule to be back in 3 weeks. Hopefully, that'll happen.
Andrew is probably a bit optimistic, but if he's right that will give him about a week in the regular season to integrate.
>>> we still have the 15th spot on the roster and we have Jelani McCoy in the D League. Why not call him up for 10 day contract?
I don't believe the Lakers would add a 15th man until the road trip is over. There is virtually no practice time when a team is on the road. That means no opportunity to work another player into the system. The little practice time there is goes into tweaking what the team is already doing or not doing.
I mean, who knows how common the LeBron-type actions are amongst NBA players? I certainly don't, but I do find it counter-productive for the NBA and Nike to be building up LeBron as this generation's "I Want To Be Like Mike" because the image that is being presented is not the real LeBron James.
So, in this era of increased media scrutiny, that's eventually going to come out. Look at Eliot Spitzer. Same kind of thing. Kobe. Same kind of thing.
I'm a huge Kobe fan, but the real Kobe is a blood-thirsty competitor, not some warm and cuddly Sprite spokesman.
When these "fall from graces" happen, and it seems like, since Michael Jordan, they always do, it's just not good for the game.
Charles Barkley said it best, "I'm not a role model." He's right. He's not. And when David Stern's NBA and Nike start to promote people like LeBron James as role models, it's a front that cannot be perfectly maintained. Something's bound to go wrong to the detriment of the game.
HEY HEY HEY! IT'S TIME! Lakers Baby! We need everybody to step it up today. Ronnie and Mbenga need to be HUGE. Time for fish to have one of his "Big Game James" impersonation. Luke needs to show up and play again. I hope the machine oiled his parts. Farmar needs to be solid. Vlad Rad need to come down from the stratosphere. Lamar needs to keep it up. Kobe will be Kobe.We can do it. Break the streak!

Note waiting for the road trip is too late. We need help now.

Popular Events
As the Lakers get set to defend their title, Lakers tickets are going to be huge all season. Dodgers tickets and Angels tickets are also in high demand with another season of MLB baseball underway.
Defense! Yeah!
Now if we can do a little bit of that on our own...and show off that best passing team in the league propaganda lol.
(good morning everyone!)
