One sure fire way to beat the Jazz

On April 5, 1984, playing against Utah in Vegas, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar passed Wilt Chamberlain on the career scoring list when he knocked down his 31,420th point on a sky hook along the right baseline. He'd finish his career with 38,387. Now, I'm not saying Kobe (21,118) has to pass Kareem tonight, but if he could just catch Wilt, I'm willing to guarantee an L.A. win in Salt Lake. I don't care how much trouble the Lakers have had stopping point guards lately, that'll get it done.
BK

10,000 points tonight for Kobe Bryant tonight!
I am personally guaranteeing it!
GO LAKERS!

Way to remind of all of our great Laker heritage and the luxuary of watching Kobe and his chane over his carreer to catch Wilt and maybe in long run challenge Kareem. Great time in Laker history to see both past and watch future.

AK/BK - WOW - what a great video post! Thanks for reminding us all of our amazing history. What an honor it is to be a LAKER FAN!!!

BK,
Who knew you could be funny, thought that was AK's department
Posted by: Taliq | March 20, 2008 at 10:54 AM
Dunno about catching Kareem, but a 100 piece from Kobe would not fine by me, especially if it guarantees us a W!
realistically, a triple double by the Kobester should get us a W, I am guessing..
no more talk about Kobe's hip jammer from last game, I guess he's good2go...Never can tell with Kobe, he downplays many of his ouchies!!
Go Lakers!

Off topic,
I just checked KB24.com and it appears Kobe is gonna be on the cover of Dime Magazine..Looks like a cool feature, go check if you haven't already....

Regarding Houston's "losing streak," it's somewhat predictable. The same thing happened to the Lakers in the 33-straight season. They tended to lose in bunches -- not, of course, huge bunches, but 2 of three, like that. A streak can be self-perpetuating, and becomes an end in and of itself, draining to team, so there's a natural let-up when it's over.
Is Houston the team to beat in the West. N.O.? The Jazz? The Lakers? Spurs? Suns? Mavs? Is this the greatest season in the history of basketball, or what?

GO LAKERS!

From the YouTube video:
After breaking the Wilt's record, he added 7,000 more points ended up with 38,387. I believe this record and the 33 straight wins will stay in the books for a long long time. The same way with the record of the golden throat, late Chickie Baby, who had 3,338 consecutive Laker games.
That's consistency and dedication, a rare trait that's hard to find from professionals in this day and age.

UNFREAKINGBELIEVABLE.
This has to be the best regular season in the NBA that I can remember. I just took a look at the standings and the fact that a team could go from the 1 seed to the 8 seed in the span of a week is amazing. Every night is like the playoffs, a two game losing streak could put you out of the postseason and some people might actually say the words "if you're lucky you'd get the Spurs in the first round". I love this stuff!!
Anyway, big, HUGE game tonight. I think Utah is the best team in the West and going into their building short-handed will be very tough. It would be huge for us to get this win and get some momentum going into the weekend.
Posted by: Andrew Z | March 20, 2008 at 01:00 PM
If THE BEAST brings out the skyhook, I'm driving to Los Angeles from Phoenix for a playoff game. I'd lose my mind. He's gonna do it someday, and when he does, the NBA is in B-I-G trouble.

he does not make the first page of the list .... kinda irrelevant
but w/ 3088 in 12 seasons, less than kobe at 4500 and POOR vs. Deron Williams w/ 1957 in only 3 seasons.
by the way, he is loosing the speed/sprint competition vs. the last one
need also stats about Farmar?!

Anyone catch Kareem on Colbert the other night? He still has that calm, thoughtful intensity, which just adds to the hilarity of him busting out some goofy comedy.
I'll always love the bit from Airplane "Listen kid, I bust my hump out there... you tell your old man to try dragging Walton and Lanier up and down the court for forty eight minutes a night!"

Well said, my friend!
All you see and hear nowadays are players like Garnett, O'Neal, Kidd quote, unquote - injured. When all they want is a chance to sucker out of their contracts. You see other teams losing games left and right because players have lost... yep, their "consistency and dedication".
One of the few teams that have strived for consistency and have players (an a broadcaster) that have given enough dedication to the game of basketball are the LA Lakers.
Here's a refresher:
http://www.nba.com/lakers/history/lakers_history_new.html
The team need to look deep inside once more to pull off a win tonight.

My predictions of the final seeding for the playoffs:
1. LAL
2. UTA
3. NOH
4. PHO
5. DAL
6. HOU
7. SAS
8. DEN
Sorry, GSW, the two games you lose to the Lakers in the home and home will pretty much do them in. Y'know, usually it doesn't take much luck or skill to predict the seeding with only 3 weeks left in the regular season, but when the 1-7 seeds are separated by 2.5 games, there is a lot of room for error. In my scenario, poor Utah grabs the 2 spot only to play the Spurs in the first round. This is really the best regular season race ever in watching 35 years of basketball IMO.
Anyway 1st round predictions are as follows:
LAL over DEN in 5
SAS over UTA in 6
NOH over HOU in 7 (sorry T-mac, you still can't get out of the 1st round)
PHO over DAL in 7
2nd round
LAL over PHO in 6 (revenge is sweet)
SAS over NOH in 6
WCF
LAL over SAS in 7
FINALS
LAKERS vs Celts or could it be Kobe vs. Le Bronze or maybe a Laker-Detroit rematch...
In the end, it doesn't matter. LAKERS ARE CHAMPIONS ONCE AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

gugy, The game is supposedly coming on TNT or is it ESPN..Either way, you should be able to view if you have cable..try channelsurfing.net.. That seems to be the most circulated site on here. Before I got NBALP, I used to go online to NBA.com and click on Watch Live games, then the link for the game you want to watch, and I was able to view by virture of Broadband...Thats my 2cents, hope it works..

Winning the west is the most important right now.
It is the difference between playing
The Spurs, Rockets, Dallas or tghe Suns
Or if we win it we play Golden State or Denver in the first round!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Let'as go Lake Show. We need a easy first round this year.
Posted by: Zakee | March 20, 2008 at 02:21 PM
Did anyone do projections yet? I was bored yesterday and went through the WC playoff contender schedules. Here' what I came upwith:
Lakers 61-21
Houston 57-25
Hornets 55-27
Suns 54-28
San Antonio 54-28
Jazz 54-28
Golden State 52-30
Dallas 51-31
Yes, I know. That means starting tonight we'd have to win every game. But! Every game is winnable when the guys have confidence.
Utah has a brutal last week of the season. SA, NO, DAL, DEN, HOU, SA.
