All the Kobe love in cyberspace sandwiched together and stacked high like a Dagwood with extra mustard
Some of you may not have realized it, but Tuesday, March 11 was "Kobe Bryant Blog Day," an event organized by Hardwood Paroxysm. A call to arms for bloggers everywhere, whether Mamba worshipers or admittedly not his biggest fan, to give essay-form props to his undeniable hoops greatness. Thought y'all would be interested in seeing the roundup of those scribes who took part. Lotta dudes. Lotta Kobe-centric squawk. And if you go to the right side of the blog and click on our latest "Purple, Gold and Blue" podcast, you'll hear our interview with Matt Moore, organizer of this shindig.
By the way, similar to our advice with "Derek Fisher Day," while Lakersblog is happy to see both get some love, we don't recommend using either day as an excuse to call in sick to work next year. Even the most die-hard of Laker fans can't make a reasonable argument where this merits "religious holiday" status. You're just asking to get written up or fired.

Shhh...Word is that the Smushcalade has been sent cross country in a semi truck thats expected tomorrow. It is presumed that Smush will argue with the truck driver about getting his keys back. Someone videotape!

Kobe Bryant Blog Day, Derek Fisher Day, thats all great, but.....
What about "The Machine"?
maybe just a half day or an hour? :P

I don't want Kobe to win the MVP, because it will be a better Hollywood drama storyline similar to the Punisher.
It will be a day of reckoning

I don't want a "Coby Karl Extravaganza Day" because of the 36-hour hangover that comes with it. Yes, I'm gonna party that hard.

Repost:
Shooting Guard ballhog list of shame!!!
Due to ‘Laker Faker’, sorry ‘Laker Lover’ insistence that Kobe is a ball hog. I thought to prove his point; I would add other shooting guards who should also be called 'Ball Hogs'. As you can see Kobe is at the top of this list of shameful ball hogs!! Kobe, shame on you!!! LOL1!!
Kobe Bryant 5.3
Manu Ginobili 4.7
Ray Allen 3.1
Richard Hamilton 4.2
Willie Green 2.0
Cuttino Mobley 2.8
Raja Bell 2.2
J.R. Smith 1.5
DeShawn Stevenson 3.1
Carlos Delfino 1.8
Kareem Rush 1.1
Bonzi Wells 1.5
Eddie House 2.1
Mamba24, what's up with silent treatment. Am I not part the 'Lakers Crew' or have you forgotten who used to go toe to toe against the trolls in the early stages of this blog.

Jon's Simple Morose Thoughts Of The Day:
1. Just got back from the vet with Delilah. They couldn't get all the cancer out. I'm kind of freaking out.
2. It's my birthday today. What a crappy day.
3. Urgh.
4. I wish the Lakers were playing tonight and kicking the Mavericks in the crotch so it could take the mind off of what's going to happen with my dog.
5. It really sucks about the injuries to Trevor Ariza, Andrew Bynum, and Chris Mihm. We so much stronger with them available.
6. I hope some rich courtside Lakers fan brings some Dit Da Jow to the game. Jack Nicholson must know a good Chinese herbalist.
7. I hate the Cavalliars and Cleveland.
8. Urgh.
GO LAKERS!

ON THE ROAD AGAIN…
It’s going to be an exciting 4-game road trip for the Laker Trolls and an opportunity to make a statement to the many blind who believe that the Lakers have a legitimate shot at the championship. I think the Lakers will wilt under the pressure of having to play quality teams on the road. I see turnover after turnover, way too many 3 point attempts, poor defense, and ever poorer coaching.
Here is a quick look at each of the four teams we face:
1) NEW ORLEANS HORNETS (Fri, 5:00p)
---------------------------------------------
This will be the 3rd match-up, with each team winning a game in the other’s home town. The Hornets won the initial match-up on Nov 6 in Los Angeles (with Bynum) 118-104 while the Lakers with Andrew Bynum crushed the Hornets 109-80 in New Orleans on Jan 9. The 4th game between the teams will be in Los Angeles on April 11.
The Hornets are currently #5 in the West with a record of 43-20, just 1/2 game in the win column behind the Houston Rockets. Talk about a ridiculously close playoff race. The Hornets just destroyed San Antonio tonight and will revenge the earlier home loss to the Lakers with a blow-out.
Look for CP3 to run circles around our clueless defenders and expose the Laker defense as it has been exposed recently against weaker competion.
Bottom line: Hornets 110-95
2) HOUSTON ROCKETS – Sun, 12:30p
---------------------------------------------
This will be the 3rd match-up, with each team winning a game in the other’s home town. The Rockets beat the Lakers 95-93 in Los Angeles on opening night Oct 30 on a 3-pointer by Battier at the buzzer while the Lakers beat the Rockets 93-90 in Houston on Nov 14. The teams will not meet again unless it is in the playoffs.
The Rockets are currently #3 in the West with a record of 44-20, just 1 game in the loss column behind the #1 Lakers who are 45-19. The Rockets have now won 20 games in a row, including 8 in a row after losing Yao Ming for the season due to injury. Look for the Rockets to completely befuddle the lakers with their strong defense and for McGrady to dominate Kobe.
Look for the Rockets to extend their winning streak to 22 games and all Laker lovers making excuses.
Bottom line: Rockets 102-90
3) DALLAS MAVERICKS – Tue, 5:30p
---------------------------------------------
This will be the 3rd match-up, with each team winning a game on their home court. The Mavs beat the Lakers without Andrew Bynum 112-105 in Dallas on Jan 25 while the Lakers with Pau Gasol beat the Mavs with Jason Kidd 108-104 in Los Angeles on Mar 2. The 4th game will be in Los Angeles on April 4.
The Mavs are currently #7 in the West with a record of 42-23, 3 1/2 games behind the Lakers who are 45-19. Still adjusting to the Jason Kidd trade, the Mavs have won 6 of their last 10 games and are fighting the Warriors for the #7 slot.
I look for the Mavs to totally dominate the Lakers in this game, While the Lakers barely escaped with a win at Staples the Mavs will laugh the Fakers out of the Building for their third loss in a row making all Laker lovers pushing the panic button.
Bottom line: Mavs 125-96
4) UTAH JAZZ – Thu 7:20p
----------------------------------------------
The Jazz do not lose at home period.
With the Lakers losing 4 in a row, Laker lovers will blame the referrees, Kobe (for shooting too much or too little), Nine Rings for his rotations, Luke, etc.
Then all lovers will say "just wait till Bynum gets back"
Bottom line: Utah 127-115
---------------------------------------------
BOTTOM BOTTOM LINE
IT WILL BE A TROLL FEST
FEED THE TROLLS
p.s. BD don't go to Vegas

re-post
we play houston only 3 times. they most win on sunday.
we play NO and dallas 2 more times each, now, and later at staples. utah does not matter because of the record.
we also play san antonio at staples.
san antonio is on the hard tour, playing detroit and boston.
if lakers go 2-2 on this trip, as worst case scenario, it will still be a successful trip and still #1 in WC.
we must win in houston and NO. huston is a must so in case of a tie, lakers will have home court advantage.
we have a better conference respectively division record than any of these teams and that will decide the tie-breaker at the end.
in the larger picture, this trip is not as dangerous.
with the condition that in the future lakers will take seriously scrubs like portland and kings, and yes the warriors.
go lakers
4-0
i hope this little math will brighten your day. enjoy!

Sup fellas, just checking in. Mamba24, thanks for keeping me in the one and only Roll Call. Sometimes I feel like I don't post enough to get that, but nonetheless its appreciated.
Looking forward to this road trip, the games will be good. The road will be a good change from the Staples Center at this time of year. It can be pretty dead during the regular season against sub .500 teams.
Hoping for 4-0.

Mamba,
Please put me on the 4 for 4 bandwagon.
Nice loss last night SA.
Phoenix is hopefully going down tonight.
NO, watch out here we come. Give paul his 29 & 5 and win by 29...sounds like a great approach.
AB,..Much man love. Please get better soon. We need you. We need at least the last 5 of the regular season with AB.
Ira Newble,..Ok, whatever. This guy has some game, but I would still rather have Ariza hounding somebody than Ira Newble. But, if no Ariza this year, Newble will do.

Too bad it isn't game day - but maybe the Warriors will beat the Funs and run them off the court. At least that will be an entertaining game tonight.
Good luck to your dog - man's best friend.

Shaq might get 15 minutes on the court tonight after Baron and the rest of the Warriors abuse the elderly Funs. I can't wait to watch the Funs get smacked all over the court.

"The Lakers have not faced a 4-game trip in which all opponents have played a minimum of 50 games and possess a cumulative winning percentage exceeding .600 since February 4-9 of 1973 when the Lakers traveled back east to face Baltimore, New York, Boston and Milwaukee. League-wide, no team has faced such a scenario since the Memphis Grizzlies’ 4-game trip to Dallas, Houston, Denver and San Antonio April 11-16 of 2005."
Found this pearl on the Lakers gameday nba page.

I'd be satisfied with a 3-1 already, but 1 thing I'm sure though, we can't afford to lose to New Orleans and Houston.
Posted by: KB8th Wonder | March 13, 2008 at 03:44 PM
AK,
[Taliq,
By going on that rant, you only further proved what I was saying about Kobe fans taking everything so deeply personal. In my post to Cbuck, I wasn't being critical of Kobe. In a lot of ways, it actually had nothing to do with Kobe, period. I was talking purely about the reaction of his fans. But you immediately went into a long, detailed defense of Kobe that was both unprompted and unnecessary (especially the part where you rag on me for lobbying on behalf of Nash or LBJ for MVP, which I've never done in my life).]
Nah seems like you missed the point entirely. In your post to Cbuck you genaralized kobe lovers as going on rants. I simply did the same. I.e. just cuz I said y'all lobby for lbj or nash doesn't mean I was addressing you specifically. "Y'all" meant the press.
At no point in there did I say AK said blah blah blah, it was all they, y'all etc ... similar to you grouping kobe lovers together .... again I thought it was a why do kobe lovers react to the press this way kinda topic ... and i simply responded in kind as in why does the press have a biased agenda at times e.g. voting for nash for mvp given his extreme defensive liabilities, why dont they come down as hard on him as they would kobe ... for you to argue you don't share the same opinion as "the press" is going off on another tangent ...
If you're willing to call us out on our reaction to articles you did not write ... then you should be willing to stand behind those articles when we call out the authors for the crap they wrote ... so you either go yup nash got a pass from the press and kobe wouldn't have or you man up and go yup the press had nash's back and i concur ... or you can find some other techicality to hide behind, makes no difference to me ... just dont flinch when i throw hater your way or try and get it removed from the dictionary
Bottom line like most kobe fans, I'm tired of being made to seem like I'm crazy for going hey this dude is busting his butt every morning ... I'm posting on this blog and y'all in bed and our comments ain't getting updated (that ain't a crime, i like getting my sleep 2) ... but at that same time kobe's already gotten a couple of workouts under his belt ...
At what point do members of the press like you start k*ssing the ground kobe walks on if only for the level of dedication he puts in, never mind the results. Sure you can argue it's not your job to do that but kobe's the closest thing to jordan and the press definately kissed the ground he walked on. At what point do y'all go hey this is crazy, I know mvp voting can be subjective but I'm calling all d people i know with a vote and saying it'd be a crime if nash was a 2time mvp before kobe gets one and now they wanna give baby bron one too?
His peers acknowledge him as the best, eventually the nay sayers will jump on his bandwaggon too and instead of saying oh we finaly see what the kobe lovers saw ... they'll say oh sure they've got gasol and bynum impproved and they signed artest (lol, wishful thinking) but the reason he's the unanimous mvp is kobe finaly improved on his ball hogging game and became a better leader blah blah blah ...
Career avg of 5 assists per game for a shooting guard yet he's labeled selfish. They'll go oh forget that Nash is passing to Amare and Marion, Kobe needs to make Smush and Kwame better. And we're the one's ranting?
Again this ain't a campaign for kobe for mvp, I hope he never gets one just so that history can record the injustice ... and I'm not singling you out, I'm addressing the same press you say we're overeacting to ...

in the last 2 years, nba.com did some kind of survey or voting ballot asking people who is the best dressed player in the NBA. (also the players selected were known, good players and some all stars)
kobe was voted #1 and yes, lebron was looking pathetic for the least votes. most of the players were wearing suits and ties. the kobster had a 3/4 jacket, a V-neck and a shawl something like gray, silver and blue. actually he was really the only one who looked like a model.
in most of shots i see, KoBe is dressed casual, elegant and sophisticated at the same time. growing up in italy put an imprint on that.
i remember maybe 10-15 years ago they did something similar. dominique wilkins won and they mentioned that john salley?! was a clothing designer with his own label.
is it game day yet?!
i expect nothing but 4-0, actually 5-0 with the back 2 back with seattle at the end of the trip
