Tried to make him go to Jersey, he said "No, no, no."

February 13, 2008 |  6:06 pm

You could combine all the cheers Devean George got in seven seasons as a Laker and I doubt they'd add up to the big ups he's getting from the Nation right now.  In an effort to protect his Bird rights (which he'd lose if he gets moved- man alive, the CBA is complicated), George has put the kibosh on this blockbuster.

Granted, I imagine the trade will happen with somebody else in his place.  But still, way to bleed purple and gold (or at least not not blue, red and silver), Mr George.  No Christmas card from Bruce Springsteen for you.

Go Warriors!

D'Antoni is the biggest whining, crybaby coach in the league!!! He's such a loser for someone who thinks he's so smart. Should Nash and the Suns fail to win a ring, Nash has wasted his career with the fun and done Suns. He should've gone to a more traditional team that plays solid defense but needs a point guard. Amare just choked at the foul line with 3 seconds left!!! C'mon Warriors seal the deal!!! Watch out everyone, here come the Lakers!!!!

GS..will win!....

only 1.5 games behind now..hopefully!

monta you gadda hit that free throw man

Suns lose. Lakers just 1 game behind heading into the All Star break. Way to go, Warriors.

Tom

Laker4realz,

I do. He's so smug. For no good reason. He'll never get a Ring, and thinks he and his teams are so good. So good, they sould their soul to the devil, for the same result to happen. Play-offs ending with a loss.

Haha. Suns lost. Do they think Shaq woulda helped that?

Man, great game by the Warriors!

Can't get much better.

No matter who wins tomorrow Dallas or Phoenix, Lakers benefti although I'd like to see Phoenix go down again.

WARRRIRIOOOOOOORRRRRRSSS!!!

NOOOOOOOOOO!!! Ellis choked at the foul line too. We will only be one game down if the Suns lose tonight. Yessssssssssss!!! Warriors win as Barbosa misses a game winning three. Lakers moving up again. Yeah baby!!!

when the suns lose tomorrow night we will be in good shape

I can't lie... I like Golden state...

Monta Ellis is the man! and Baron Davis is a L.A. dude...

I dig the Warriors, they might be more fun than the Suns ...

Either way, 1 game out the Pac-Division Lead!!!!

Wonder what D'Antoni's excuse will be?

Wonder what D'Antoni's excuse will be?

Troy-

Not necessarily. The conventional wisdom is that the Nets would buy Stack out, then he'd end up with the Mavs again in a month. So that has to be considered.

10milliondollarzen-

Come on now, if you can't poke a little fun at Jersey, where does that leave us? Even Springsteen wanted to get out of Jersey.

BK

Dallas plays Phoenix tomorrow night. If Dallas wins, we are just 1/2 game behind Suns. If Suns win, we vault ahead of Dallas to become the #3 seed. Our strength of schedule advantage is starting to rear its head.

Tom

The Moons i mean suns just lost to the warriors and Shag was seen leaving floor and somebody gives him hung. What is it why do people like this guy do they figure he will put them in his will what-up?

This laker team remines me of majic showtime teams. I mean the bench is so productive and the starters WOW just think Bymun and ariza are coming back nobody match's up with this team

Lakers4Realz
What's up my brother. We're one game behind and we're catching speed.

YOU KNOW Colorado loves the Lakers!

Jason Kidd or not, it does make a difference, they're giving up a lot of quickness and athleticism for him, plus their quickest post defender in Diop. That being said, being an ex LA resident and Laker fan for life, with how LA is playing right now especially after tonight's game, I think it's getting pretty ridiculous how good the Lakers are becoming. With Bynum coming back, it's not going about winning games, oh no, it's going to be about embarassing basketball teams that play this team. Go Lakers

goldberg...

no doubt....
i hope that the Lakers DO run circles around fat donut eating Shaq and stupid D antoni....big cry baby..is right!

George is great. Bring him back!

BK/AK,

If Devean sticks with his no trade clause, will Dallas still trade for Kidd and if they do how will they make it work?

Nemaia-

It's a serious block in the way of the trade. I've heard a couple people break it down, and numbers wise, it's hard to recreate the deal financially and personnel wise without him in a way that is palatable to both teams. I have a feeling they'll figure something out, simply because they've come a long, long way towards getting it done.

But it does seem like something more than a minor roadblock. At least from what I'm reading/hearing. Hope that helps.

BK

i hope the Kidd trade goes through. they gave up way too much and he is almost at the end of his rope. they are going to be a very average team without much athleticism when he gets there.

BK,
"In fairness, wouldn't you protest if someone sent you to work in New Jersey?"

That depends; which exit?

Korey,

The Warriors are definitely my favorite team to watch other than the Lakers. They're so damn unorthodox that you just can't turn away. I definitely like watching them over the Suns, but a lot of that is that I HATE the Suns.

BK,

Thanks for the information. I don't think it matters much if they get or don't get Kidd because I think the Lakers at full strength are capable of beating anyone. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts. While Bynum's return garner's the most attention as well it should, Ariza's return is also very important because of his versatility, defense and ability to attack the hoop. Can you imagine Ariza at the receiving end of passes from Pau as he slashes or cuts to the basket?!!! Ariza would definitely finish more frequently than Rad and Luke who have been receiving the same passes from Pau. When Andrew and Trevor return this team will be soooo deep and PJ will have so many different options and lineups to throw at teams!!! Go Lakers!!!

Xodus,
how can you NOT like Monta Ellis?

He's like bringing A.I. back before he went away!

That guy is electric and B-Diddy does some amazing things...

Good team... and what happens if Brandan Wright develops?

Good Good team..

I love the way the West is just tripping over themselves to give away their future to possibly win it this year. What's so great about the Laker trade for Gasol is that they got a player that can help them win now and in the future. They really gave away nothing, except Critt. Those low round future #1 picks might never make it in the NBA.

But look at Phoenix - Got stuck with paying Shaq 40 million and he might end up being injured all the time. Plus what's going to happen after the 2nd year. They won't resign him for that kind of cash and no-one will trade for him. (Except may Cuban would be stupid enough).

Look at Dallas tripping over themselves to get Kidd. Another big contract, give away your future pt guard Devin and a Big body. I love the way all of the West is desperate to make these moves, which will hurt them for years to come.

Just wait and see the powers in the West will be Lakers, Portland and New Orleans. Everybody will be wondering what happened to the Suns, Dallas and San Antonio. Ha Ha - the future is bright for the Lake Show. Go Lakers!!

NAH WE SHOULD HATE GEORGE MORE. ILL AKE HARRIS OVER KIDD RIGHT NOW. THEY LOSE DIOP. MAN DEAVON IS HELPIN THE MAVS OUT.

Why should Devean relinquish his rights and diminish his future earnings to help the Mavericks? Gotta look out for #1.

The thought of Devean in a beehive hairdo singing about not wanting to playing in NJ ala Amy Winehouse makes me laugh.

HUGO, sup buddy!

HEy, we need to try to arrange that Deal to go to Dalls for the game and maybe even dallas and houston, since i believe it may be a back to back?

hmm....would you be down?
Anyway..

AW,

couldnt have put it better, everyone making DESPERATE moves, giving away their future...the lakers are what? second youngest team in the league?.....Dallas just gave up a 24 year old up and coming guard for a 35 year old (sure an all star..but 35!) aging and soon to be retired Kidd.

i love it.

purple and gold baby....

i hope kobe decides to sit out the all star game...he just needs to rest that finger...

Lakers4realz, I, too, cannot STAND Mike DAMN-TONI..He seems like a schmuck in the worst way and you'd think the SUNS have already ONE a couple O'Briens by the way he carries on...His team of course has taken on the same arrogant demeanor...(in the huddle of last night's game he was overheard yelling at his to team to play like Champions!" (errr,. champions of the division??, cuz they haven't won anything else beyond that??

What's up Lakerville!

Man, Mavs GM Donnie Nelson must really be dumb to include George in the trade without clearing it up with him first. He should've known about George's Early Bird Rights situation and his right to veto a trade. This wastes everyone's time.

>>>No matter who wins tomorrow Dallas or Phoenix,
>>>Lakers benefti although I'd like to see Phoenix go
>>>down again.

It's a toss up. If Phoenix wins, the Lakers are the #3 seed
at the All-Star break. If Dallas wins, the Lakers are only
1/2 game behind Phoenix for the lead in the Pacific.

Nemaia,

>>>If Devean sticks with his no trade clause, will Dallas
>>>still trade for Kidd and if they do how will they make it
>>>work?

Substitute Eddie Jones and either Juwan Howard or Nick
Fazekas for Devean, then add Darrell Armstrong to the
set of players coming back.
