Real time game thread- Lakers at Hawks
February 6, 2008 | 4:06
pm
It's the second go round for Pau Gasol as a Laker, and a potential trap game for his new team. The Hawks are all bouncy and young, and run around a lot. They've also just capped off a 4-11 January. Still, they've won two straight, and are 14-9 at home. All in all, it's a game the Lakers should win, but they need to pay attention.
Remember, KCAL viewers, stay away from this one. And the Internet in general, until 5:30.
BK

You guys hear about Kwame Brown's first game with the Grizzlies? Four points. Four rebounds. Three turnovers.
GO LAKERS!

This is not pretty.
Come on guys, pick it up!
Defense!

I'm at work so I can't see the game but I'm keeping track on yahoo, did Lamar really make a 3 point shot? Something that caught my attention was the fact that Fisher/Odom/Rad all have over ten points. It's amazing, who knew getting rid of kwame would make the Lakers this good?

Time to get Luke out of there. He's useless.
Posted by: Bruce S | February 06, 2008 at 05:54 PM
Our bench is struggling bad.
Need some infusion of good D.

Gunner,
Kobe is a Laker. To disparage Kobe is to disparage the Lakers. To wish ill will on Kobe is to wish ill of the Lakers. You can't expect the chain to be unbroken if you take a chisel to one of its links.

Has Bill Walton paid every annoucer in the country to compliment his son on "basketball IQ"? It has been mentioned 4 times in this telecast alone. Granted they've also said he doesn't have much athletic ability and is a defensive liability (he's no Rick Fox). He's having a decent game though. Argh! But just had another blocked attempt.

STOP BLAMING THE FINGER.
KOBE IS MISSING PERIOD!!!
Posted by: Gunner | February 06, 2008 at 05:55 PM
Yuck.
Ugly game gets uglier.Still...
We're gonna pull this one off. Inquiring fans demand it.

We're only getting the edge here because we're more balanced, experienced.
Otherwise we're SOL. Gotta play better than this!
Go Lakers!
Posted by: Faith | February 06, 2008 at 05:56 PM
we're not really dominating these Hawks. Back2back game, Kobe's bad fingers, Bynum out, Hawks are athletic, etc., etc.
Just keep them at bay guys. A WIN is a WIN.
Go LAKERS!

Am I the only one posting tonight?
I haven't felt this alone since that time I camped outside the mall to get Tiffiny tickets.

We get seven players in double digit points before this game is over.
GO LAKERS!

Why does Luke Walton get so many minutes?!!! I just dont understand it! And not only that....there's so many plays that are run for him as if he can finish anything.
He destroys our offensive flow i think. And on defense, he's always a liability and needs a help defender.
I'm not just getting on luke but its the truth. He should be playing as much as he is. He might be one of the least athletic people in the nba.

Luke just drive me nuts...

Luke's playing well. A minute ago Williams hit a jumper in his face when he played perfect D. That shows up as a minus in but he did anything anyone could ask. Ball is more than numbers. Luke's contributions often don't show up in the box score.
That said, I'd think Phil might want to have some more athletic players in the line-up against these guys down the stretch....

Kobe really great. Lebron, Dwade, Nash or whoever are just there far behind him, not even close.. This Guy plays with pain..

The defensive rotations that Phil employs drives me nuts.
Posted by: Bruce S | February 06, 2008 at 05:59 PM
OK. It's Farmar's turn as underperformer of the night.
Kobe only has 9pts?! Is his hand feeling that bad?
Posted by: max | February 06, 2008 at 06:00 PM
And there it is, right on cue. Nice shot, Lamar.
Posted by: Jesterguru | February 06, 2008 at 06:00 PM
Everybody's contributing. No need to rout every opponent. its impossible. What is important is the end result. The W!
Kobe's having a bad shooting night and we're still wining. It means a lot.
this is a TEAM!
Go LAKERS!!!!
