Ain't much happening, but that won't stop us from sharing

January 6, 2008 |  6:12 pm

Slow going in the locker room pregame, but here are the scant tidbits:

Sasha will dress today.  His ankle's still bugging, but he's willing to grit his teeth and give it a run.

Noted soccer enthusiast Kobe had an autographed Ronaldhino jersey laying on the top of his chair.  The message was in Italian, but I deciphered the "To my idol, Kobe" part all by myself.  Just call me Andrew "Berlitz" Kamenetzky.

Vlad remains inactive.

San Diego native Luke Walton was naturally pleased by the Chargers big win this afternoon over the Titans, but he quickly endured some ribbing from Kwame Brown, who deems SD's chances next week against the Colts rather slim.  When Walton noted the "rule" about not being able to talk smack unless your team is actually in the playoffs, Kwame countered by noting that he doesn't actually have a team, thus automatically affording him the ability to mock any squad he damn well pleases.  "You always reserve the right to hate," laughed 54.  I asked if this attitude was the result of growing up in Georgia with the Falcons.  Actually, it was more about living in a "Florida Adjacent" part of the state, which made him more of a Florida Gators football fan than a loyalist for any NFL team.  He just watches the pro game for fun, not rooting interest.

Audio is below the jump.

Audio:

  • Phil Jackson.  He opens talking about LO, and his occasional struggles to stay focused when things aren't going particularly well.  From there, the conversation moves on to Kobe, and his behavior towards the whistle bearers this season (he's been more mellow, which is a good thing), and a little time generally on how coaches and players deal with refs.  Then there's some talk about Kwame, how he's played since returning from injury (good reviews thus far) and how long it'll take for him to be fully recovered (call it a week or two, perhaps).  Finally, some words about The Critter.

While the popular opinion on this blog is that Kwame's greatest attribute is the size of his calves, I contend that being a Gators fan is the best thing about Kwame.

Go Gators!

Go Lakers!

Kwame Brown approaches pro football the same way he approaches pro basketball - no real interest

bynum show much improvement from last year, but still gotta dunk that balll more often than use the glass.
