Merry Christmas, everybody!
Or as George Bailey would scream it, "Merry Christmas, you wonderful old Building and Loan!"
Just a quick update, as I'm riding solo this holiday afternoon (BK's in NY with the in-laws) and I still need to grub before the Live Blog.
Health: Luke Walton told me before I was leaving the locker room that he wasn't cleared to play, but joked about trying to talk his way into the game. All kidding aside, a Suns-paced game is a tough one to jump back into while getting over a bum ankle and if you can't maintain Phoenix's tempo, it's debatable how much help you'll be in the first place. Thus, I'm not surprised Walton's a no go. The same logic applies to Kwame, who isn't quite ready yet for runnin' and/or gunnin'.
Coby Karl: Recalled from the D-Fenders and taking Walton's spot on the active roster. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that Mike D'Antoni has spent little to no time prepping to stop George Karl's kid, so this strikes me as the perfect opportunity for Phil Jackson to think outside the box, run the offense only sporadically- if ever- through the Mamba and keep the Suns on their collective heels as they try to adust to #11. Call me optimistic, but I'm setting the "Over/under" on the Karl's points at 65.
Finally, Sly and the Family Turiaf was all over at Ronny's house last night (along with close friend Boris Diaw and his crew) celebrating the holidays. The brood will also be in Staples, so if you hear a few sections get overly geeked when Ronny does something as simple as inbounding the rock, that's the explanation.

LA Times story says that D'Antoni is still miffed about the beat down that the Lakers put on Phx. in early November, more to the point he's still upset at PJ for calling a 4th Qtr. time out. I hope that the Lakers give him something else to be mad about later! GO LAKERS!!!
Merry Xmas, everyone!!!

Go Lakers!!! 9 Rings...call timeout to START the game. That should really torque D'Antoni.

Merry Christmas to all, lets finish the holidays with a Laker win!
Corner J,

I absolutely hate it when the networks go to commercial and then pick up the game in progress. We lost the first minute or so of the game!
Nice bow tie, PJ!!

this is the best starting 5 the lakers can play with...........sorry kwame, luke and whoever else..........this will have to be the 5 that takes the lakers to the next level

Merry Christmas Ak and the rest of the bloggers... good choice on the Its a Wonderful Life too, my favorite movie ever. Still makes me shed a tear. Also a nice story about Turiaf and Diaw hanging out despite their team rivarly, they are teammates in France and fellow countrymen.
But to mister D'Antoni bon a natale! but I hope that we still beat you down.
I think Crittenton will get some burn today if Luke is out. That means that Phil might slide Kobe to SF and go with Farmar, Crit Kobe lineup that everyone here loves.

I am lovin' Bynum's toughness out their.....show's no fear!
Go Lakers!

Already, the Lakers are showing that they are at least on a par with the Suns. The Suns have made several mini-runs that in the past would have been the start of a demoralizing blowout. Each time, the Lakers calmly pulled even. Let's see what happens when we have a few runs of our own.
And Dion, I agree. Today's starting 5 should be it from now on, with Farmar the 6th man in to spell Fish.

DUNK OF THE YEAR!
WHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Posted by: Ron | December 25, 2007 at 02:56 PM
OHHHHHH MMMYYYYYY! Ariza MONSTER dunk!!!! From Farmar...
Posted by: CornerJ | December 25, 2007 at 02:56 PM
Thats the future. Ariza dunk, Farmar tear dropper in the lane, Bynum follow up finish. Best of all, the Lakers look like they want to play on Christmas Day and send a message. This is a complete turnaround from last year's X-Mas day where it was a Kobe show.

ariza!!!!!

Forget it. The Suns have NO answer for Bynum. He completely changes the matchups and the on court chemistry. A little more beef and muscle on him and we'll be watching the Suns fading fast in our rear view mirror.

I say Dunk of the Year by far! That was like SICK!
How can Coach D'Antonie say, all we need to worry about is Kobe.....
NO D'Antonie...........you betta worry about THE WHOLE TEAM BABY!!!!!!!!!
GO LAKERS!

what happen to the blog???

If the Lakers could just advance a little bit more, then Phoenix could become
their whipping boys in the playoffs the way that Sacramento was when
they were doing so well, but couldn't get past the Lakers.
