Game Thread- Lakers at Warriors

On the one hand, Jessica Alba is a dedicated Warriors fan. That's a plus. On the other, she's taken, so where's the fun in that? She is, however, cheering for two, now.
On another note, all together now--- pound the ball inside!

Okay... why is Walton starting again??????????????????????

Kobe to Bynum just sounds so nice
Posted by: Bonez | December 14, 2007 at 07:49 PM
Coz he's starter material? lol, jk.
Actually I think it's coz Rad plays better with the mob squad.
Still I'd rather start Ronny or Ariza over him.

Maybe this will get Mike T posting again.

You took the words right out of my mouth........Judging by the way Kobe was on him on that last defensive lapse.......he's wondering the same thing
Posted by: pfunk36 | December 14, 2007 at 07:51 PM
5 offensive boards for Socks aint too shabby
Posted by: sixonezero | December 14, 2007 at 07:58 PM
Mike T. post... nah... not with Kwame out!
Posted by: keifo | December 14, 2007 at 07:58 PM
BK,
What does Alba's pregnancy has to do with pounding the ball inside?
Man, those pesky W's are playing scrappy. Are they under the impression that there is some sort of rivalry or something?

Gotta make or gimmies.
Posted by: Faith | December 14, 2007 at 08:00 PM
Great energy tonight. Wow, what a difference from last night. They really look like a contender the way they're playing.

Farmar & Ariza in... lets rock!!!
Posted by: keifo | December 14, 2007 at 08:02 PM
Kobe's making life pretty tough for himself right now.

HAB-
Nothing. And in hindsight, that's probably not the best juxtaposition, either. I fixed it.
Thanks.

I love Ariza on the defensive end. Best trade we've made so far.
Posted by: Faith | December 14, 2007 at 08:05 PM
I think that phil might be trying to see if he can get anything out of him...seeing that he isn't doing nothing off the bench
Posted by: Bonez | December 14, 2007 at 08:06 PM
excellent first quarter!
Posted by: the WOLF | December 14, 2007 at 08:06 PM
This is it folks...the starting 5 of the future, starting right now: Kobe, Farmar, Odom, Ariza, Bynum. Showtime II, baby!

ATTA BOY RAD!!!!!

BK
Kobe has been fouled on at least three occasions and just hasn't received the call..........(maybe the refs have bet on the spread?) this leads to what appears to be low shooting percentage and turnovers........this may fool people who have never played and just keep stats.
Look on the bright side.......at least Luke's out of the game
Posted by: pfunk36 | December 14, 2007 at 08:11 PM
Bynum has not TOUCHED the ball on the block...not once! He has gone and get the ball for himself tho!
Posted by: Bonez | December 14, 2007 at 08:11 PM
awesome block by ronny!
he still can't control his body though...
Posted by: the WOLF | December 14, 2007 at 08:13 PM
gotta love this second unit. runnin and gunnin with GSW
Posted by: sixonezero | December 14, 2007 at 08:16 PM
"Mike T. post... nah... not with Kwame out!"
Actually, I expect the Lakers to beat the Warriors. The Warriors haven't beat the Lakers in 2 years. And I expect Bynum to have a big game because he always does against the short Warriors.
I'm studying Bynum's game. I'm interested in how he does against Chris Kaman in our next game. Kaman is a legitimate big with skills.

pfunk-
Condescending as always. I'm watching the same game as you are. 2-8 is 2-8, dribbling off your foot is dribbling off your foot. But mostly, he spent the first quarter forcing his way through a lot of traffic and isolating. Move the ball, run the offense, and get it back in a better spot to attack. Especially if you're not getting the calls you want. Not that he's garbage, just that he's making it harder than it need be.
Hard to argue with the results in Q1, however you slice it.

Keep it up boys!! Pound it inside!!!
Posted by: keifo | December 14, 2007 at 08:26 PM
this second team is nice! I'm actually looking forward to the next time we play phx. this squad runs nice!
Posted by: the WOLF | December 14, 2007 at 08:28 PM
WHY the HELL is Kobe forcing things? He has NOTHING to prove
Posted by: Bonez | December 14, 2007 at 08:30 PM
I thought Kobe could have played better.
He was letting the refs frustrate him, I'm sure he'd agree.
But the second half is another ball game for the Kobester.

BK
I'm with you. Kobe likes to bob and weave on the perimeter and draw double coverage. When he gets it he tries to split the double. But he's getting trapped a lot and either losing the ball or jacking up an impossible shot. Kobe, please, pass the ball or take the pick and roll.

Okay... why is Walton in again???????????????????
Posted by: keifo | December 14, 2007 at 08:32 PM
it's good to see odom put up 11 shots....be nice if he made more than 3 though.
Posted by: sixonezero | December 14, 2007 at 08:34 PM
BK
You think Bynum is being punished for his behavior last night....i would think u would want to give him the ball on the low block to slow it down every now and then.
Posted by: Bonez | December 14, 2007 at 08:34 PM
BK
Condescending? Me?
You make a lot of good points......but I watched a couple of times where Kobe cut well without the ball and never saw it again.
I see you are watching Kobe with a very analytical eye early........since you are analyzing could you analyze Luke for me?
I'm not worried about Kobe (and neither should you) he always makes the adjustment........

Socks!
Posted by: Faith | December 14, 2007 at 08:37 PM
Actually, I've been doing a lot of scouting. I've been watching a lot of NBA games to see how other teams structure themselves. I have a lot to say but I'm going to wait for another 10-15 games to do so.
One thing for sure is that the Phoenix Suns and the Golden State Warriors both play small ball. But Phoenix's version of small ball is superior to the Warriors because of Steve Nash as opposed to Baron Davis.
Nash is murder on defenses with his passing. Davis is a hit and miss type player. If Davis isn't hitting his 3s the Warriors will stuggle.
One thing for sure is that the Suns' 3-pointers are down this year. The Suns are being challenged this year by teams actually playing defense against them.
What I've noticed in my scouting is that teams are playing defense this year. I won't last all year long. But teams are playing to win this year. When they drop out of the playoff hunt their defense will decrease.

I love Fish. He's just great.
Posted by: Faith | December 14, 2007 at 08:41 PM
Can anyone tell me what the Lakers crowd was chanting at the end of the Spurs game? It wasn't "M-V-P" ... I believe someone on the Spurs was shooting free throws at the time, but I'm not sure.

Since when does Kanye West wear #5 for the Warriors and guard against Kobe and DFish?
Colorado loves the Lakers!
Posted by: Hugo Boss | December 14, 2007 at 08:43 PM
What is with Odom? Half our bench is playing better than him on a regular basis.
Posted by: BH | December 14, 2007 at 08:43 PM
Why does Kobe trust Rick Bucher? He looks like a tall oopma loompa
