Seven years, $65 million

Terms weren't disclosed, but I'm fairly certain that is not what Chris Mihm got from the Lakers when he re-signed today. Assuming the Lakers are serious about only carrying 14 dudes this season, barring a trade or another transaction, the roster is officially full.  Especially now that D-Fish has, as expected, cleared waivers and will officially sign tomorrow

Obviously, the devil is in the details regarding the Mihm signing, but assuming the Lakers didn't go hog wild with years and money, it certainly doesn't hurt.  Even coming off an injury, Mihm is almost certainly the best big remaining on the FA market (unless I'm missing a blue-chipper somewhere).  I'm sure more info will come out tomorrow at D-Fish's news conference.  Click below the jump to read the news release from the team.  SLIGHT UPDATE: The deal is for three years

Or maybe not.

EVEN BETTER UPDATE: Terms are in.  Two years, $5 million.  That's a very good figure for the Lakers.  No harm, no foul.  If he's healthy, Mihm will be much more than a $2.5-million value.

-- BK

EL SEGUNDO –- The Los Angeles Lakers have re-signed free-agent center Chris Mihm, it was announced today by General Manager Mitch Kupchak.  Per team policy, terms of the agreement were not released.

Mihm, 28, missed all of last season while recovering from surgery on his right ankle.  Originally injuring the ankle in the closing seconds of the Lakers' March 12, 2006, contest versus Seattle after tallying 20 points, 13 rebounds and three blocked shots, Mihm missed the remainder of the 2005-06 season, with the exception of a brief appearance in the team’s season finale, and was forced to sit out the Lakers first round playoff series against Phoenix.

In 59 games (56 starts) during the 2005-06 campaign, Mihm averaged a career-best 10.2 points on 50.1 percent shooting from the field while averaging 6.3 rebounds and 1.24 blocks in a career-high 26.1 minutes.  On the year, Mihm recorded seven double-doubles while leading the team in scoring once and in rebounding on 16 occasions.

Finishing his collegiate career as the University of Texas’ all-time leader in blocks (264) while ranking second in rebounds (945), second in double-doubles (47) and 13th in scoring (1,404), Mihm was selected by the Chicago Bulls with the seventh overall pick in the 2000 NBA draft and was named to the 1999-2000 Schick NBA All-Rookie Second Team.

In six NBA seasons, Mihm has posted career averages of 8.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.07 blocks in 395 games (251 starts).

In two seasons with the Lakers, Mihm is averaging 10.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.35 blocks.

The starting lineup for the USA team

Kidd
Kobe
Lebron
Bosh or Stud
Stoud or Howard

The conspiracy isn't just the refs...or for that matter what was originally postulated to be the nba "heads" screwing with us...it was the fact that there was something fishy with Kobe being the only superstar NOT getting superstar calls. I accept that Ronny may not get the calls that Lebron makes...though if you really look at it he gets fouled a lot...and a foul is a foul right? But as superstars go, there is something called superstar calls...and Kobe usually gets slighted.

JJ if we're trading with Sacramento, and Houston, why wouldn't we want Artest instead of Head? While Shane Battier is nice...he's no Artest defensively, though he is less of a headache. Just a question.

Gen_O...any word on how zombies feel about ribs? Last I heard they were regulars at Luke's rib place.

Props to Mike T. That might have been his single-most delusional post since I've been popping in here. I have no doubt that the many people who pop in here to look around tell him
what they really think. He likely hears their voices...

I think the reason he won't make his own blog is he's scared of what he'll find out. His psyche couldn't handle the truth.

I'm guessing this ref is now looking to be part of witness protection.

Andrew Z, I think you're right. I'm not sure what the Suns owner thinks he's doing, but that team will suck in three years at the rate he's going.

exhelodrvr,

You can disagree with me, but don't lie on me. What you have just described I have NEVER done.

I never claim that if players have career years anything..... You and a few others have added things in your mind based on what I say and then you want to accuse me of actually saying it.

I say....if Lamar is moved to the small forward spot, he will be more comfortable in a better role and it will help the whole team function better.....That's what I say, not those ifs you are making up.

As for the trash for gold.....I offered Brian Cook and Sasha Vujacic for Luther Head and Kirk Snyder. That is hardly trash for gold!

If you are going to debate me at least be fair about it.

AZ,

Of course the luxury tax is a part of the deal, but my point was that their choice of Kurt Thomas as the one chosen to be sent away indicates that they are choosing to also look smaller next season. Clearly, they lacked size this past year which his presence helped somewhat. By trading him away and not getting any bigs themselves this summer, what else are we left to believe than that they are content with being small? Couldn't they have sent Diaw or somebody else away instead if it was strictly about the luxury tax?

As for Seattle, I don't believe that this is just a bandaid attempt. Outside of Fortson, they haven't had a veteran big man on this team since the days of Gary Payton. At the very least, Thomas can teach the other guys how to be effective even if he doesn't play much himself.

Mike T,

Why do you try to make everything a black and white issue. I'm a black man, but I don't go out and try to turn everything into black or white.

Here's a suggestion....How about i send you a one-way plane ticket to Mississippi. Pick any corner of any street within city limits and just start spouting out your beliefs about black folks and white folks........and then see what happens.....

This is an old article involving the corrupt referee, Tim Doghany.
Rasheed Wallace was suspended 7 games for confronting referee Tim Donaghy
after the game. In hindsight, I guess Rasheed had some legitimate reasons to be so angry:

http://espn.go.com/nba/news/2003/0118/1494990.html

The league needs to refund the 7 game salary to Rasheed, along with everyone else that suffered at the hands
of Donaghy. . Although Donaghy is only being investigated for the past 2 years, who knows how many years
this guy has been corrupt. Who knows how many other refs are corrupt. I'm not even surprised at the corruption
from the refs. I am surprised that Doghany got caught.
First the suspendion to Joey Crawford, than the article about the study on racism amongst refs, now THIS?
Everyone complains about bad officiating, now fans will question every perceived bad call.
This is a devastating blow to the NBA.

"You're right! This is about revenge. Next season it's on. By the time I'm done the players, the black players, will openly defy Phil Jackson. I already have the plan. When I'm done Phil Jackson will crawl out of Los Angeles.

mike"

i think you are suffering from a bad case of...

meg·a·lo·ma·ni·a (měg'ə-lō-mā'nē-ə, -mān'yə) Pronunciation Key
n.

1. A psychopathological condition characterized by delusional fantasies of wealth, power, or omnipotence.
2. An obsession with grandiose or extravagant things or actions.

Hey, I'm willing to make one bet. Stern isn't going to give Las Vegas an NBA franchise.

Any takers?

Faith:

"Gen_O...any word on how zombies feel about ribs? Last I heard they were regulars at Luke's rib place."

They LOVE ribs! Well, at least what's on them. I think they prefer them with blood instead of a dry-rub, though.

Faith,

You sort of answered your own question to me....

I would take Battier over Artest for a multiple of reasons....not in this order necessarily.

1 - His salary is less next season.
2 - His attitude is more conducive to team harmony.
3 - He doesn't have known off-court issues.
4 - He is a better/more consistent perimeter shooter.
5 - He doesn't need to control the ball so much on offense.
6 - Houston is more likely to send him to LA, than Sacramento is to send Artest to LA.

The Lakers don't need the best small forward defender on the market....just a better one than what they have had.

JJ,

Yes, that trade makes Phoenix smaller, and that is a problem considering their biggest problem last year (and probably this year) will be defending Tim Duncan. However, that trade was about 99% for financial reasons. The Suns have long been known to be trying like hell to shed the $7 million of so to get under the tax and Kurt Thomas' $8 million contract does that. Coincidence? Nope.

As for why they wouldn't send someone else, well, I'm not so sure Seattle would want anything else. They get an expiring contract and two first round picks. That's about as good as it gets for a rebuilding franchise. The only other salaries Phoenix might want to dump are Boris Diaw and Marcus Banks and I'm guessing neither of those guys is attractive to Seattle.

Let's just say that Phoenix's ownership are some serious, SERIOUS tightwads.

I'll take Dr. Buss and all his party animal ways way before I would Robert Sarver. The fact that all that deal does is save him about $15 million (none that he can use to get another player, just for his pockets) is a major slap in the face to the fan base.

laker fan,

To be honest, I hope that those reports are not true. As much as I like KG, bringing him to the Lakers right now sends a very bad signal to everyone. To Kobe, it says that if he cries....he gets his way. To the other players it says that if he cries....they are history. To the rest of the league, it says that the Lakers are attemtping to buy a title. It also says that Kobe needs a player the caliber of KG in order to compete for a title.

I just don't like this. I want to see the guys play with what they have while making a few minor changes. I'd rather see that.

Andrew Z,

I disagree that it is all about the money....but that's cool.

MAMBA 24

Wouldn't dare to attack Mr T. Just wanted to test the blog obscure reference meter.

So far no takers..."precious bodily fluids". Hint: the movie had a big WAR ROOM in it...

JJ,

Just read your post at this time. Yeah, I forgot the Nuggets. Well, look at the players of the Grizz and Blazers plus the experience attained by the Warriors in getting to the second round of the playoffs, that's confidence. Anyway, I don't expect the Lakers to behind these teams unless they mess up again. JJ, I always wish I'm wrong with my viewpoints, I like theLakers to succeed and get over the hump. We need miracles from our Centers which is really crucial in the success of any team.

PJ crawling, no way, he got new hips I think he'll be cool for next season, no more pains and the worst is over. If ever he will be smiling again with this team. No more Smush to pout, Cook is no longer indispensable so he can't throw his pants on him and no more Drew to rebel against the Coach.

Ok let get this done

Lakers trade Lamar Odom and Sasha V to Chicago for Noha, Thabo, Joe Smith and Mike Sweetney

Chicago will be stupid not to do this deal... They are in desperate need of a 4 and Lamar fits the bill in a big way.....

Laker's will have enough pieces to get Garnett.. Minnesota's FO has repeatedly said that they would like to get as many Gator players as possible to team up with Brewer...
Also obtainiing Bynum as well as Farmar as well...

Lakers trade
Noha
Bynum
Farmar
Kwame (expiring contracts)
Mo Evans( expiring contract)
Swetney ( expiring contract)
With Minnesota having their own expriing contract of next year in Ricky Davis and Eddie Griffin whom combined to 9.8Million in salary, adding players like Kwame, Mo as well as Swetney will provide another 15M expiring contracts... They would potentially be 25m under the cap after next season.....

To make the deal more eticing for the Minnesota I say take the Trenton Hasssell contract as well which will give them another 4M in relief... And if Minnesota really plans on not playing Hudson at all next season they can also void his contract as well... That would potentially allow them to be under 38M under cap in 2008/09....

This makes a lot of sence for all teams involved...

Lakers should trade Cook for Head and 2nd round pick as soon as possible if that deal is on the table....
Here is the line up

Fish/Head/JC
Kobe/Thabo/Hassell
Luke/Vrad/
Joe Smith/Turiaf
Garnett/Mimm

3-peat anyone......

KL, as long as Kobe is healthy, Team USA will go undefeated.

JJ,
"As much as I like KG, bringing him to the Lakers right now sends a very bad signal to everyone. To Kobe, it says that if he cries....he gets his way."

Let me get this straight. You'd rather watch a bunch of scrubs that have no chance to win a title than watch a team
contend EVERY year for the next FIVE years? You are following the wrong team buddy. If you are so content with mediocrity,
you need to go follow the Clippers. The Lakers are not the team for you.

Tsphere,
Ironically, having a franchise in Vegas would probably decrease the potential for these types of problems, because of the monitoring that the state of Nevada does.

KL-

Got it.

BK

Mitchell,

It isn't liking mediocrity, it is about wanting to become a great team the right way.

I have never liked the idea of going out and buying a chmapionship. What does it prove that you can win once you have brought in all of the best players? i have always been of the belief that it is more impressive to win with less than to win with more. I would much rather us keep adding enough pieces in order to win with the least amount as possible or to win with players that have developed and not proven superstars that we acquired.

The only reason why I accepted the 3-peat so favorably was because it came after 3 years of the same roster that had struggled to get to that point.

Lakofan, I don't believe the Lakers are gonna do anything else..Besides, I am tired of getting my hopes up and nothing SIGNIFICANT happens....no slight on reacquiring FISH...

whoever posted the latest Garnett "rumor":

http://www.firemitchkupcake.com/?p=195

I just have to say...

HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF THE NIGERIAN EMAIL SCAM? God! 99% of these so-called "people with insider connections" write just like the Nigerian scam dudes. Their posts say nothing, there's nothing you can put your finger on and they have "connections" up the wazzoo! I heard that if Garnett comes to the Lakers, he's going to sit there after the game and write each and every fan a check for $100!!! Yeah! and we're only trading Kwame, Farmar, Cook and our #1 pick for next year!!! We offered more but Minny graciously told us they didn't want to be too greedy and said that deal was fine. Where did I hear this? My brother's, friend's, uncle, has a babysitter who is FRIGGIN HOT by the way... who dates all these older dudes and one of them was at an underground party at the Broadcom dude's house and he heard all of the above VERBATUM from some other dude who says his brother is on the Laker staff.

DO IT MITCH! LOL!

This NBA ref thing might be just what the league needs. If the NBA reacts to it the way the they reacted to the Detriot/Indiana brawl, then the refs are going to be overly sensitive. What that means is that the prima donna calls should be down. Heck, Chris Mihm might even be able to play without picking up two quick fouls. LOL!

You see how I brought this up? That the difference between my and your idiot comments.

mike

I'm not sure if anyone has stated this yet, I haven't been on the blog in several days now. But how is it that everyone on here now seems to be a Crittenton fan. Just a few weeks ago when we drafted the guy everybody was crying about how bad of a pick he was and all of the players we left on the board and everyone wanted Mitchs head on a platter with his testicles stuffed in his mouth. Now after one summer league everyone wants to trade Farmar and keep Crittenton. What the hell. Critt was better than good in SL but its not like he was playing the upper crust of the NBA

Look...I hope neh pray that critt is the man most think he will be with his hustle and style of play but I'm not drinking the Kool Aid. Just a few years ago everyone loved Smush (for basically the same reason) and we all know how that turned out...by the way I heard that if Miami cannot get Navarro they will make a play on Smush....lol (true story)

JJ,

Name one team that has bought a championship in basketball? I second mitchel, your argument is just an argument for mediocrity.

Also if Kobe doesn't want to wait for our very young team to mature then that's his perogative. The dude isn't trying to emulate the avery johnsons, derek fishers, john stocktons of this world that are known as great teammates (hmm wonder why pointguards jump out as easy examples of this) ... his idol was an assasin formerly known as jordan. Same dude that gave steve kerr a black eye in practice. He's never claimed he's trying to be a saint, he just wants to win. And frankly speaking I don't tune into the nba to see saints, I tune in to watch great athletes perform at their peak. Currently the lakers are in a rebuilding mode and that ain't what kobe is about now. So either they go get garnet or go get artest ( without giving up bynum or odom ) ... or they should just trade him and go on rebuilding around a great group of young guys. But to ask Kobe to babysit this group is too much to ask, that ain't what he's about.

Kobe Apologist - perhaps, but what does that have to do with the Lakers? I'd rather know whether Kobe is intent on playing in purple and gold this year.

Good point JJ. As for me...I think the biggest thing Artest brings (I mean aside from the nutso aspect) is the toughness...the attitude. Sure Battier (whom I love)...is an awesome defender, but he doesn't put the fear in the hearts of the opponent. When you're playing against Artest not only are you tentative (cause you're afraid for your life)...but your whole team learns to stay away from Artest's teammates as well. And when you hve the best player in the game on your team, you need someone like that. Let's see Tinkerbell do another stunt like he pulled with Artest on board.

Though of course that's a whole nother thing.

Vman...what is X-Men? X-Men 2? X-Men 3? I know there's a war room in there somewhere lol.

Gen_O I can see how dry sauce would turn them off...I mean blood is colorful and good for you haha.

Taliq - if it says in his contract that he has to be on a winning team, your comments are valid. Otherwise, he doesn't really have a leg to stand on.
You have no idea how good your team is going to be 3 years down the road. You're still getting paid the same though. Go do your job.

If he wants to go behind the scenes and complain, that's different. But all this whining in public doesn't sit well.

JJ,
I hear what you're saying, but all those reasons you gave are completely opposite
to Laker history and tradition. Think about the great Laker teams with West, Baylor, Wilt. etal.,
the multiple hall of fame Showtime teams , Shaq/Kobe. The greatest players of our era belong
in purple and gold. The Lakers are not, nor should ever be a small-market group of developing
underdogs. If we want to compete with the elite teams in the West, the team desperately needs
an upgrade in talent. There's no other way around it. Even with Garnett, the Lakers will have a
diffiult road to the championship(s). With the limitations from the CBA, unless players come to LA on the
cheap to win a ring (like Malone and Payton), making a fair trade for Garnett does not equate to
"buying a championship".

"That the difference between my and your idiot comments."

Mike T, I'm just wondering, do you have any idea how badly constructed that sentence is. On the Unintentioal Comedy scale, I'd give it a solid 7.

V Man - Nice Dr. Strangelove reference.

I would have posted sooner, but I had to drop a deuce in the Mike T War Room.

Mike T,
"That the difference between my and your idiot comments."

Just wanted to point out that when you make a comment of that nature, it REALLY looks dumb when you have spelling/punctuation/grammatical errors.

What Up

I Just Want To Say That I Am Leaving This Blog And Going To Another One So Goodbye And Good Luck Everyone.

Mitchell,

It doesn't sit well with you that is. And yes his contract doesn't state he has to be on a winning team, and yes there are lots of players in the nba quite content with getting paid and losing. Kobe just ain't one of them. Whether you see that as a good or bad thing, well that's your perogative.

For all the arguments against kobe I've never heard one that questions his work ethic, and frankly speaking when you work damn hard for something, it's your perogative to be arrogant about it. For all the talk about how he's hurting the lakers, it's funny how every one under the sun is saying the lakers can't get equal value for him. So they'd better try their damn best to please the dude cuz in this relationship, it's clear who the clingy patner is.

I might make typos but your comments are just plain idiotic in the thought your trying to express.

mike

J-Cool,
What are you talking about? We need your updates and links here?

The D,
" in the Mike T War Room."

Is the latest Sports Illustrated in there yet?

Good Bye J-Cool Have Fun At GetGarnett Dot Com. We'll See You Back Here When We Don't Get Garnett Dot Com.

What? J....NOOOOO you can't leave us. We need our J-Coolness.

Fish got his #2 back officially. Welcome back Da Fish!

Is that trade proposal with Odom Rjeff and Gwall one of those typical fabrications that we all expect from NY media? That trade is a joke, and makes absolutely zero sense. Odom is better than Gwall. By a lot. And despite Odom's injury woes, he still plays twice as much as Gwall.

Not only is that trade so stupid, but it kills Odom's market value. How can you seriously ask for Jermaine O'Neal for Odom when Indy will just turn back at you and say, u know thats not fair, Odom is equivalent to Gerald Wallace. Mitch needs to come out right now and say how much of a lie that that trade is, or at least say "well, we were gonna get the #8 pick and Sean May as well".

Seriously, if Mitch thinks that is a good trade, and he considers himself a Laker fan, he needs to do the honorable thing and go GM the Spurs or Suns.

The D,

"I would have posted sooner, but I had to drop a deuce in the Mike T War Room."

POST OF THE DAY!!!

HAHAHAHAHA!!!

J-Cool,

You're like a blog casanova. You just come in, participate for awhile, and then move on. Good luck player, good luck.

JJ,

"To be honest, I hope that those reports are not true. As much as I like KG, bringing him to the Lakers right now sends a very bad signal to everyone..."

I think it would be nice to grow with the current team as well, but if I were the GM and could bring in KG, I would. The thing is
that Bynum and Crittendon and Famar have potential, but KG is a guaranteed superstar. There are so few superstars in the
league, if you can get one in good health, you get him now and worry about what players to put around him later. The only
possible way you could lose out on the deal is if at least 2 of the people you trade away become all-stars and KG doesn't produce
for some reason.

JJ
"To be honest, I hope that those reports are not true. "

It is not as much about "buying" a title as it is putting together a team that has a chance of contending for a title while you have argueably the best player in the league on your team. It is about having a one-two-punch again. It is about having players on a team that give you a real shot at a championship (which every team should be about). As for Kobe's team mates, if they are underperforming on the court, if they are un-willing to put in the work; if they will not listen to the likes of Kareem, if they will not/can not play at a level necessary to win now, they put themselves in a position to be traded. Their "feelings are not important." This is the NBA, a professional money making endeavor where the goal for all participants is to win championships! Try not pulling your weight on your job for a couple of years and see how much sympathy your co-workers are going to have for you. If a player or players are not willing to work very very hard to earn their millions, I say, "So long! Go! Get off my team! I do not really care about your feelings." As for Kobe "crying", I've said it before, Kobe said nothing more than everyone on this blog has said all during the season. And as far as I'm concerned, he is really the only one who had a right to say anything because unlike the airchair GMs in the media and on bloggs around the country, he's the only one whose career and livelihood is at stake.

By the way, I'm not surprised that NBA.com had little or nothing to say about the investigation of the "gambling ref", I do find it interesting that the LA Times had nothing about it in the sports section. (at least I didn't see anything). Where are all the Kobe hating LA Times writers when there is really somthing news worthy to report???????

To those of you who continue to blame Kobe for absolutely everything wrong about this team, all I can say is...You are going to miss him when he's gone.

the fish that saved l.a. has been signed. welcome home d-fish!
glad to have you back where you belong.

Mike T,

I'm rubber and you're glue, whatever you say bounces off me and sticks to you.

Chris Mihm being interviewed by KCal9.

http://cbs2.com/video/?cid=71

"ankle is completely healed"

P.S. go to sports, then Chris Mihm's interview.

I haven't been posting here long but it seems every week somebody claims - in dramatic fashion OF COURSE! - they will never post here again...

is this some kind of strange sympathy ploy or is it the same guy or what is the point of posting that you will never post somewhere again? LOL!

Mike T
For a seemingly intelligent guy you are painfully brainless. It has to be on purpose.
The one thing you are great at is getting people like me to respond, LOL.
I just don't understand why it is fun for you to feebly try to boost yourself up by denigrating everyone else.
I can picture you typing away with glee, but you don't see how pathetic it really is.

HI FIVE The D!!!!

Dr. Strangelove it is. Nothing gets past this blog.

Kubrick's masterpiece is even more impessive when you consider he made that the same year he did Lolita, which could be utilized in posts concerning Laker ownership.

Gen. Jack D. Ripper had Mike T's strength of conviction.

"Coach, I'm ready," Bryant declared, according to Colangelo. "And I want the best player on the other team every single night."

i just wish old Kobiatch would take that same tone with his Lakers team.

J-Cool

Nice Having You Around. Can You Imagine if I Said "KL is Leaving"? This Place Will Go Bonkers with Joy. Good Luck with Your Future Endeavors.

"Coach, I'm ready," Bryant declared, according to Colangelo. "And I want the best player on the other team every single night."

KL,

30 attampts?

Exactly. And watch the other 4 players standing around with the look for disgust when they truly see what the ball hog is like when he get that glare in his eyes.

But, it will be said "Kobe has a bad supporting casts. that's why they got the bronze"

KL said:

"Can You Imagine if I Said "KL is Leaving"? This Place Will Go Bonkers with Joy."

I, for one, would cry harder than D-Fish did when the Spurs dethroned us back in 03. You are a truth-teller. They're always the first to get crucified.

Andy B,

LOL! That's just it. Why do you respond? You must be seriously bored, which just goes to show that the comments on here are so thoughtless that you respond to me.

mike

Andy B,

Just hang in there, Mr. Teniente's Opus is coming soon and then he's leaving the blog.

He said that he will only be here if we're winning rings so us true fans just need to hang tight until he leaves.

USA Starting 5:

Deron Williams
Kobe
LeBron
Stoudamire
Dwight Howard

There's enough offense there so you don't need to start Chauncey, and Kidd will be more valuable at the end of the games so we should save his legs. They gotta keep Tyson Chandler on the team so we can have a defensive presence down low.

Mike T's farewell post?

Hmmm. Too bad. I've always thought of Mike like an inner ear infection--sure, it hurts you when its around, but you miss the stinky puss when it's gone.

Wes

Andrew Z,
"Mr. Teniente's Opus"

Is that a reference to Richard Dreyfus (a slow white guy) or the naive penguin from Bloom County?

Someone needs to link some Suns blogs, because those Suns fans must be going NUTS right now. If I were a Suns fan I would find a big tub of crisco and stick my head in it and cry for an hour. You trade away your second best defender and your two first round picks just to save money? Just to not pay the luxury tax? Isn't one of those picks the Hawks unprotected pick? Knowing the Hawks that's gonna be a top 5 pick.

Amazing. A-mazing.

Wes

Now there's a good ESPN who's now debate. A-Rod vs. Kobe. That truely two superstars going at it.

mike

A-Rod, MVP=Most Valuable Player

Kobe, LMVP=Least Most Valuable Player

I'm going to go vote for A-Rod all night.

Oh Mike T...

Hey when I spell your WAR ROOM backwards it reads MOOR RAN...

Ever notice?

Love,

Wes

WEs,
"I've always thought of Mike like an inner ear infection"

You mean because after you read one of his posts you keep hitting yourself in the head to try and make things more clear?

utzworld

"I, for one, would cry harder than D-Fish did when the Spurs dethroned us back in 03."

Man, i forgot about that Fish crying in 03, but hey, Fish got them back in 04 with the 0.4 second shot.

wesjoe,

I went to the Suns and Sonics sites on realgm.com and its exactly what you said. There is nothing positive about the deal from a fans perspective if you are a Suns fan. It is strictly a "owners bank account" move.

As for the Sonics fans, they're jumping with joy. So would I actually. They are having one hell of an offseason. Durant and Green in the draft, didn't overpay for Lewis, and now get an expiring contract and two first rounders.

They are probably going to suck this year because they're so young, but damn that's a nice future they got.

Andrew Z,
"They are probably going to suck this year because they're so young, but damn that's a nice future they got."

Now, if we could get Mike T to convince them how much brighter their future would be if it included Kwame Brown ...

Wes,

"Oh Mike T...

Hey when I spell your WAR ROOM backwards it reads MOOR RAN..."

Did I not tell you that you were bored? LOL! You study my stuff that you have to look for stuff backwards.

mike

JJ,

Who cares about the "message" getting KG sends to Kobe, what about the message it sends to the fans?

Wes

Weave-man'

"USA Starting 5: Deron Williams, Kobe, LeBron, Stoudamire, Dwight Howard"

If kobe's the #1, first round knockout; with kobe leading all players in scoring and, more importantly, shot attempts.

If Stud-a-Mire is the #1, 2nd round appearance, but DNP due to suspension

If Lebron is the #1, championship round, USA gets swept by Argentina.

" LOL! You study my stuff that you have to look for stuff backwards."

Mikey,

I'm just trying to understand you my man. You're such an interesting guy who could have a world of companions--friends in every port-- if you just didn't spew so much hate. Interesting, but sad also.

Wes

wes,

i've noticed that MT is an interesting fella. a lot of anger pent up inside. MT should join Hobbit in MMA; that should release some of the pent up anger........that or blow $300 at Olympic Gardens in LV. I've vote for the latter, much more enjoyable.

Wes,

Here's the deal, Wes. You see what's happening in the NBA right now? I heard that the people in the New York offices are sick to their stomachs over this ref thing.

You know why? Because it's a part of life that doesn't belong in sports. The intergrity of the game comes into serious question. My stomach turns just the same over what Phil Jackson has done over the last two years. Especially this year. The guy manipulated the line-ups so bad that it just boggles my mind how the Lakers FO didn't fire the guy.

And if the guy is playing favorites with the likes of Luke Walton then I have to question the movtive of his thinking. To me, that is like that ref bringing an ugly part of life into the game. That's serious stuff, man. Gambling, racism and stuff like that doesn't belong in sports. And if you think that it doesn't exist then why did it take so long for black players to get into MLB? This stuff exists and Phil Jackson isn't beyond being questioned about these things when he's manipulating the line-ups the way he did.

People want to give Jackson a pass because of his 9 rings and pretend that what he did didn't happen. There's has to be an explanation for what he did. Playing an injured Walton in the playoffs over a healthy Radmanovic? What's this guys motive? I say he was setting up Walton for a big payday. I have a lot more to say on the subject but I'm not in the mood to do so right now.

"You're such an interesting guy who could have a world of companions--friends in every port-- if you just didn't spew so much hate. "

If it takes me to come off as hateful...that's fine because no one is saying anything about what Phil Jackson did. So yeah, if I have to scream from the top of my lungs, if I have to drag Jerry Buss through the mud, if I have call Jeannie Buss the names I called her to get these people to acknowledge what Phil Jackson did...it's what I'm going to do.

You've got to understand that I've been following the Lakers since 1969. That almost 40 years of loyalty. I use to listen to the radio, in my small tow, where the reception was out over 90 percent of the game. But still there I was with my ear to that transitor trying to find the right angle to get an update on the action.

After all that I have to sit here and watch Phil Jackson insult my intelligence with the things he did? No Fen way! I will drag that dog through the street until he is naked and bare for everyone to see him for what he really is. And that's an egotistical MFer. To the point where he has a total disregard for the legacy of Kobe Bryant. He put his petty attitude towards Kwame Brown above the potential of what Kobe Bryant could have done had he had a constant defensive presence.

mike

For the record, Mike T did start a blog of his own way back. Even asked everyone here to check it out. I assume it doesn't exist anymore since Mike doesn't refer to it anymore. Or am I wrong, Mike?

p ang,

That was for politics, my true love. I used that to bring up world issues because it didn't belong in this section of the L.A. Times.

mike

Mike T.

"no one is saying anything about what Phil Jackson did"

This is because nobody cares but you. You are a megalomaniacal moron. I wish your computer would break, or you would leave us all alone. Or better yet, both.

Wow, conflating Phil's line-up changes with a crooked ref. Brilliant. The usual stuff I expect from The Artist. By the way, you didn't get my point. It wasn't the typo;
that happens. The sentence was grammatically incorrect.

This ref issue is going to bring up every conspiracy theorist out of the woodwork. I want to know which games he had worked. Why isn't that information
available yet?

"LOL! That's just it. Why do you respond? You must be seriously bored, which just goes to show that the comments on here are so thoughtless that you respond to me."
mike

Sorry for the delay in posting. I was so bored I had to squeeze in a quick 18 holes at the 4pm twilight...
The reason, Mike T, that I do respond is because I take exception in my posts being called idiotic by someone like you. Forgive me for giving in to human nature.

OK LETS START BY SAYING THAT I AM A LAKER FAN FIRST, WITH OR WITHOUT KOBE, I LOVE THE GUY BECAUSE OF HIS TALENT AND WHAT HE DOES ON THE COURT, I CANT HATE HIM CAUSE I DONT KNOW HIM. THE PROBLEM WITH THE LAKERS IS THIS, LETS START WITH THE OWNER DR.BUSS, HE HAS ALL THE WRONG PEOPLE IN HIS ORGANIZATION, FROM GM TO COACH TO PLAYERS. MITCH KUPCHAT DOES NOT HAVE A CLUE TO WHAT IT TAKES TO BUILD A CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM. THATS WHY THE LAKERS WERE NOT ABLE TO INK KG. LET US GO BACK TO THE SHAQ TRADE, WE GOT LO,CB,CA FOR SHAQUILLE, CB AND CA ARE NO LONGER IN LA SO, THAT MEANS YOU BASICALLY TRADED SHAQ FOR ODOM AND SIGN A BUNCH OF YOUNG PLAYERS THAT ARE NOT ATHLETIC AND CANT MAKE A IMPACT ANYWHERE.KWAME, SASHA,COOK,RAMONIVICH,TURIAF,BYNUM,ALL OF THESE GUYS NEED TO BE IN THE D-LEAGUE. AS FAR AS LUKE,EVANS,MIHM,GOOD TO COME OFF THE BENCH.THE BACK COURT,WELL THAT REMAINS TO BE SEEN ,WE NEED A BALL HANDLER VETERAN POINT GUARD SOMEONE WHO CAN GET OTHERS THE BALL IN THE RIGHT PLACE AND STICK A JUMPER. KOBE AND LAMAR,YOU HAVE TO BUILD AROUND THAT AND GET A IMPACT PLAYER WITHOUT LOSING LAMAR.BOSTON GOT KG WITHOUT LOSING RAY ALLEN OR PAUL PIERCE.HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE? BUT LA DONT GOT NOTHING TO TRADE WITH,THEY DIDNT OFFER THE WOLVES ENOUGH TO GET KG.MCHALE,AINGE PUT THERE HEADS TOGETHER,IF I CANT SEND KG TO U THEN HE WILL STAY IN MINN,HE WILL NOT GO TO LA.(WHAT DO U EXPECT,THEY ARE CELTICS) THATS WHY I DONT BELIEVE WE WILL GET JO (LARRY BIRD).BACK TO LA THE TRIANGLE OFFENSE NEEDS TO BE ABANDONED. ITS LIKE BUSH AND THE IRAQ WAR ITS NOT WORKING. STOP TRYING TO MAKE THIS TEAM INTO MJ AND THE BULLS.THE TEAM WE HAVE NOW CAN ONLY COMPETE WITH LOWER LEVEL TEAMS AND EVEN THEN SOMETIMES WE GET BEAT. WE DONT STAND A CHANCE AGAINST ELITE TEAMS. WE NEED A COACH THAT HAS A PASSION TO WIN NOT SOMEONE WHO IS DATING THE BOSSES DAUGHTER,THAT SHIT IS IN THE WAY.LA IS A SOAP OPERA. WE NEED A COACH THAT LOVES THE PURPLE AND GOLD ,WHEN WE GET THAT, IT WILL TRANSCEND TO THE GM AND TO PLAYERS THEN AND ONLY THEN CAN WE GET BACK TO SHOWTIME AND LA BALL AND THE TRADITION OF WINNING.I HOPE ALL THE TRUE LA FANS READ THIS AND RESPOND,IM INTERESTED IN HEARING WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY.(THE GOOCH) NORVIEW BABY

Chuck’s an optimist.

He thinks down the road is where we’re striving for. He knew long time ago, the Lakes couldn’t get KG. Deep down “jersey wearing” Kevin wanted to wear the royal purple and gold, but the “sitting behind the desk” Kevin still loves Celtic green (for him, rightfully so). Chuck’s okay with KG on the other side of the continent. KG as a post player is “kinda soft” for Chuck’s taste, especially an aging KG. We wanted JO, but again we knew the Celtic green would muddy the water. The TRIANGLE still works (have faith), and with the right parts, the Lakes can enjoy success again. This is definitely a different TRIANGLE than the early 00’s. Shaq in his Lakers championship years would have been a champion in any offense. Chuck still thinks the Lakes made the best move in not moving Kobe (we know one had to go). Even now, Chuck still feels this way.

Optimistically thinking, this team looks more and more like the Bulls championship teams. We know LO is ready to enjoy his first season with FISH. Phil always talks about tall guards this and tall guards that, but FISH (already he’s a big fish) is the perfect fit for Kobe and LO. The optimist Chuck is ready for a breakout season for someone. Guess who you like, but Ronny TUFIAF is ready to kick ass and take names. Anyone teases him about collecting dust and throwing dust around with his waving towel, will choke to a man with a tougher heart. Like the Bulls of old, we’re not sure who the 5 will be. Without the other four, I wouldn’t be able to remember Winnengton or Longlay.
Chuck, as corny as this sound, says, “Long live Lakers!”
