For those readers concerned Luke Walton was severely overpaid

This will hopefully ease your minds. While I sincerely congratulate Mr. Carroll on a hard-earned windfall, you can't tell me Walton isn't worth at least 500K more per season. ESPN's John Hollinger would agree.
Again, doesn't mean that 5 mil a season shouldn't sound staggering for a role player who may come off the bench. It just means that salaries are all relative in today's NBA.

Kobe apologize acts happened 1 week before.
So...is old news.
Now, the trashers would never end putting motives and evil background to that simple act.
That's why Kobe drives crazy to many...
He is unpredictable.

Laker Larry:
"I know for a fact that Fish was not particularly fond of Kobe or Shaq when they played together because he felt they were both jerks."
Wow, I didn't know you had a one-on-one interview with Fish. When was that exactly?
And Kobe wouldn't have texted Fish during the playoffs if they were just on a "cordial speaking basis".

Hey Wolf, calm down... no disrespect man, I just thought you were trying to bash my post praising Fish. I'm not looking to start any pointless trash talking. We all make mistakes, and I'm not perfect either. Its just that some of the posts today have gotten my blood boiling. My bad.

Posted: Thu Jul 05, 2007 12:34 pm Post subject: Hold onto your shorts Laker fans!!!!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello everyone. My name is Tom, and my uncle works for the upper brass management of the Laker organization. I am not at liberty to disclouse who he is, or what capacity he functions in the organization. However, he does mention ideas, trade scenarios, and such that Mitch, Jim and Dr. B have been proposing. Most get shot down, however he mentioned to me yesterday while watching the fireworks and spending some quality time with the family, that Mitch is actively trying to improve the roster. Please know, its not entirely his fault. Often times, teams do not want to deal with the Lakers, because they don't want to make the Lakers better. However, in the event of not sounding too negative. I do have a silver lining to bring to everyone. Some may like these ideas, some may lash out with profanity laced tirades, but understand these are the deals that the Lakers are trying to get done right now.
Deal 1- The Lakers want most importantly Kevin Garnett to be a Laker. They were prepared to ship Bynum and Odom for his services before the draft, before Ainge backed out of the deal(a blessing in disguise). Since this time, Laker management has mulled it over, and decided that Andrew Bynum is OFF, yes you heard that right ,OFF THE TABLE for any deal involving bringing Kevin Garnett to the Lakers. The rumor that my uncle has been hearing is that Garnett is so dissapointed with Minnesota shopping him, when he was so loyal to them, that he is considering opting out of his contract next year, and signing with us for the full Mid-Level Exception(around 6 million a year). Minnesota knows this, and that is why the Garnett trade talks have heated up. Minnesota is trying to find a partner, but its difficult, since KG, who now feels betrayed is vetoing everything but Phoenix and the Lakers. Since Phoenix is not in a position to acquire Garnett, that leaves just the Los Angeles Lakers as a suitor that Garnett would accept. I am hearing that Mitch and company are waiting for the "fire sale" of Garnett(don't worry....things are going to heat up even more). The Lakers are hoping to put Minnesota in a position, that they were in , when they let go of Shaquille O'Neal. If it happens, look out. I asked my uncle what might the deal look like then? It appears the Lakers want him now for Kwame Brown, Lamar Odom, Brian Cook and 1st rounder in 2008! We'll see if this indeed comes to fruition.
Trade #2- Contray to what people may think, the Lakers would love to have Ron Artest in Purple and Gold. The problem is, getting him for the right price. The Lakers before didn't want to offer Jordan Farmar, since they were wafer-thin at the point guard position. However, with Javaris Crittenton(whom many believe to be the 2nd best point guard prospect in this draft) falling to the Lakers at #19( an absolute gift), the Lakers are now in preliminary talks with Sacramento regarding bringing in hard -nosed Ron Artest. My uncle let it slip that the offer is Vladamir Radmonovic, and Jordan Farmar for Ron Artest! Sacramento likes Farmar very much, but they do not want to deal to the Lakers. However, rest assured Mitch is trying his hardest to get this done.
Mid-Level Exception- They are going after Darko Milicic for the full Mid- Level Exception, but that is contingent upon what they get for the LLE. The Lakers organization, think that with his combination of size, skills and youth, he could be a valuable player on the Lakers and thrive significantly in the triangle offense.
Least- Level Exception- This is where the Lakers are trying to lure Derek Fisher back. They want to bring in back for 2 years at around 1.5 -1.8 million a year. The fact that he knows the triangle, and is a veteran is very valuable for the Lakers.
Chris Mihm- All indications are the Lakers would love to bring him back, but now more than 2.5 million a year, and that is if he is fully healthy enough and cleared to play. If we do not get Darko(a distinct posibility), then resigning Chris becomes even more pertinent for the Lakers organization.
Please understand that all things will get worked out this summer. You can rest assured two players are GUARANTEED back in Purple and Gold: Kobe Bryant and Andrew Bynum. As soon as more details come my way I will try and post them. Although I do not want to get anyones hopes up. Please understand these are just the things the Lakers organization is working on right now. Things do fall apart unexpectedly(i.e. Garnett to LA before the draft), but rest assured they are working to get something done.

"Kobiatch finally realized that his fans were turning on him. SEE THIS IS WHY PEOPLE LIKE MYSELF, KLBEAST, THA SHOW, EDWIN, who talk about Kobe being immature and stupid are RIGHT. At least he finally admitted. You know Kobe apologists, you've just been served right??"
How is that being served? Are you trying to say that kobe's apologizing to mitch is an act of immaturity and stupidity? Are you serious?
Posted by: Jaga | July 05, 2007 at 11:12 PM
MissVan&Jones,
You mentioned me in your posts but I just want to clarify something so that I'm not misunderstood. I want to quote a phrase in my initial post:
"The Kobe haters would like to tear up Kobe into pieces for what he did in Colorado, trying to win alone and speaking up his mind."
I never said Kobe was immature in this post.

Kobe didn't have to apologize to Mitch. Kobe told the truth that the Lakers were in a mess b/o Mitch's ineptness.

Relax....
Take a deep breath and relax!.
You are just one of the 2 or 3 fans eager to demand Kobe head.
Now. he apologize and he is Lucifer for doing it.
Move on.
The Kobe acts had returned back the sense of urgency to the GM office.
That's was the objective of this.
I,m sure you wanted the drama to continue and the possibility of a trade.
But take it like a man, dude.
If the Busses want to trade him, they will do it.
Is nothing the we can do, if that's the case.
So far, he talked to MItch, because his name was involved in the video. That's the apology.
Kobe isn't apologizing for what he believe is a lousy job from the GM office,
His apology were in a personal way, to to speak, and to show MITCH that his words were directed to the GM and not at him.
Posted by: jorema | July 05, 2007 at 11:26 PM
The media tools are incredibly bad these days.
The AP article make it look like that Kobe apologized for the trade demand while it was Kobe apologizing to Kobe for the way the infamous video came out.
No wonder the same AP having a reporter who dug up the old kb24.com "Truth" section article as a new revealing.
Can't stand these so called journalists. Too bad so many ignorant fans are misled by them.

“Kobe didn't have to apologize to Mitch. Kobe told the truth that the Lakers were in a mess b/o Mitch's ineptness”
Godchild=Mitchell in disguise.
Please pull your head out of kobe’s rectum. The only thing that’s a “mess” is kobe’s so-called legacy. A legacy that is closer to Gary Coleman than Michael Jordan. That’s right, kobe=Gary “What Ju Takin’ About Willis” Coleman. Haha $hits and giggles……..
“Can't stand these so called journalists. Too bad so many ignorant fans are misled by them.”
Mitchell, please use one screenname. Your post are becoming more ridiculous every day and with every post. We all know you’re kobe agent and you’ll “maim and kill” for kobe. Listen, if the “so-called” journalist are so poor, why don’t you write an essay and contribute to the AP or ESPN. Don’t cry when you get “return to sender” in 2 weeks. I hope your 10% commission is worth it. BTW, an essay begins with an introduction (don't forget the attention grabber), then the main points (like, I love kobe, I love kobe more, and I love kobe the mostest) and finally ends with a conclusion which should relate back to the intro. You got that? Okay, go getem' Tiger....

gdchild,
"it was Kobe apologizing to Kobe for the way the infamous video came out."
Kobe wasn't forced to apologize for anything, was he? Give the man some credit. It takes balls to go in front of cameras and apologize, no matter what the reason is. And yes, Kobe was right in only apologizing for the way that thinks played out because he -- and most Laker fans -- still believe that the Lakers F.O. has done a terrible job these last few years, and that the Lakers need to make some moves now to improve the team. All Kobe needs to do is stop running his mouth on the radio and other media outlets and express his concerns directly to the Lakers F.O..
Posted by: hal9000 | July 06, 2007 at 12:32 AM
Jorema and others,
Honestly, why is that when somebody admits their fault, they suddenly get the pass like it never happened? He should in fact be apologizing to his TEAMMATES
who are his COWORKERS.
Yes, I am happy that Kobe apologized to Mitch. Great. But when you apologize, that means you admit a mistake? Yes, his actions these past weeks and month have been IMMATURE and STUPID, and hes owning up to it. How do you not realize this?
Suddenly everything is ok? I'm sorry. Wow. Lets see action. Rescind your trade demand. Call Garnett and telll him ok now. Tell Grant Hill my bad.
MORE IMPORTANTLY, call Andrew Bynum. Invite him to your camp. He lives about a 1 minute walk from Loyola Marymount where Kobe had his camp.
Then I'll accept it.
Kobe's apology is nothing more than Paris Hilton saying shes changed.
Unless you all believe her right?

you got it wrong bro. kobe owes laker fans an apology for chasing shaq away and a second apology for being an a$$hole this summer (not to mention his entire laker career). FO owns us an aplogy for caving into kobe indirect demand for a quid pro quo for signing in 2004 only if shaq is traded. i'll ask you how are the lakers suppose to "improve the team" when kobe is a cancer an NOBODY OF STATURE WANTS TO PLAY IN LA. Proof you ask? name on free agent who have left their exisitng team to play in LA with kobe? Please do not respond with Aaron McOld, Smurf "street ballah" Parker and Theo Papa-Johns Pizza. I bet you can't name me one person. Ejones to Miami. Rashard Lewis to Magic. KG and GHill to Suns. $hit to LA because of kobe.

hal9000, my bad. I wanted to type that Kobe apologized to Mitch for that infamous vedio.
And you're right. Kobe vented for 2 day on radio shows and the media/fans took it out of hands and made it sound like Kobe repeatedly ranted and demanded trade.

Gunner24,
"PREDICTABLE.
Sounds like Kobiatch realized there was no other team that wanted him but the Lakers. So, let me get the pressure and blame off myself by apologizing to Mitch and make it look like I'm doing the right thing. Once again. HE'S PREDICTABLE."
When did you or anyone else exactly predict this happening? Lighten up...
Faith,
"Apologize to the fans Kobe. You did US wrong, not Mitch. In fact I'm still of the opinion that you lit a fire under their hinnies...but you devastated us. We've been behind you, we've supported you, and we didn't deserve this. Be a man and apologize to the fans, your fans, Laker fans."
I agree with you. Kobe should apologize to the fans for what he made us go through the past month. I've almost given up on him but maybe he will still come around.
Troy
"Kobe didn't have to apologize, but he did. It shows how inspiring this man's character is. It just reaffirms what I and millions of others all around the world know...
Kobe Bryant is a class act and truly a role model for some."
This kind of statements is what gets you killed in this blog. Kobe is not really a good role model. Accept that. He's a goddamn great basketball player is all and thats what we admire him for. Even my 15 year old kid understands that.

What could be the last name of Tom? I guess it's Tom Dooley another alias by the horse trainer.

Many other NBA players should be apologizing for their antics, including the draft pick Yi, who isn't even in the NBA yet, and is already acting spoiled by dissing the Bucks because there aren't enough Asians in Milwaukee. This young man should be grateful just for having the opportunity to make millions here in USA in the NBA, but his self-serving ideology and his misplaces agent are ruining his reputation.
Yi is someone who should be apologizing, not Kobe. But it does underline my assessment that many professional athletes are "selfish", not just Kobe Bean Bryant.
Kobe is truly a man of character, honor, and respect. Yes, he must be a role model because why millions of mothers and fathers around the world spend $$$ to buy his jersey for their children?
Posted by: troy | July 06, 2007 at 08:21 AM
Kobe Bryant is a family man who overcame his fallacies and continues to improve upon whatever flaws he has.
He doesn't have to be a model human being. He doesn't have to be a leader. He's paid to play basketball proficiently, and in that, he has excelled. Lesser men have tried to live through him, wanting him to be the person that they could never be. And when he fails to live in their image, they pout. They are offended, and they attack him. But Kobe is too far above these people to hear their whines.
No human being is perfect, but so many are swift to point out the flaws of another. Kobe Bean Bryant's "mistakes" have been atoned for; his wife and family have forgiven him for his infidelity, Shaq and Kobe are now cordial, even friendly with each other, many NBA players sing his praises and desire to play with him, and polls constantly show him as being one of the top 5 most admired athletes in the world. Lastly, his NBA jersey is the number one seller in the world, meaning that hundreds of millions so admire him that they buy his jersey just to be like him.
How frustrating this is to those who hate this man. That the structure that the once condemned him within has crumbled. And so now, in desperation, they seek to rebuild his prison. Whatever they can find will work; a secretively taped cell conversation here, a slanderous slur without foundation there. How depeserate and pathetic. How comical. Alas, their building blocks are few, and they hate this.
Here's a fact - children across the nation don Kobe Bean Bryant jerseys, young parents adorn their babies with this jersey. Why would so many parents spend so much money to buy their children a Kobe Bean Bryant jersey? Because these millions of parents see Kobe as a man to be admired and respected. They want their children to adhere to him, be like him, learn of him, and so they give their children a piece of him. The evidence is already there. The stats are in. You can't deny them.
Yes, he is a role model to millions. He may not be for you, and you have the right to your reasons as to why he isn't for you or your family. But the fact is, that he IS A ROLE MODEL for millions of others.
Of course, for the vocal minority that hate him, none of this will make sense. But it doesn't have to make sense to you. Millions of others see it my way, which makes the contentions of the minority irrelevant.

KL,
"kobe owes laker fans an apology for chasing shaq away and a second apology for being an a$$hole this summer (not to mention his entire laker career)."
Are you blind and deaf? Kobe already stated that Buss told him he would trade Shaq regardless of whether or not he stayed -- and Shaq said he believed him. And like I said, Kobe already apologized to Shaq for all that mess.
He does not owe an apology to people who hate him and have called him every curse word in the English language.
Anyway, actions speak louder than words, so if he helps the Lakers bring some talent to the team and shows more leadership next season, then that's worth way more than a thousand apologies.
KL:
"NOBODY OF STATURE WANTS TO PLAY IN LA"
Hello? Anybody home? KG sought Kobe out to talk to him. He wouldn't have done that if he wasn't interested in joining Kobe on the Lakers. 'Nuff said.

Fakerz ...
Dan le Batard article is one more in his collection of kobe attacks.
Where was Dan when Riley ripped Shaq for his absent from the court?
I will tell you where was him...
Receiving Shaq office paycheck to keep his mouth zip.
Shaq use "pay a la carte" columnists, like him, to cover his fragile ego. The same in Los Angeles as in Miami.
He is right in one thing : This is business. Everybody look for his part of the pie, employers and employees.
When a employer doesn't see benefits in keeping you, they put you in the streets.
So that crap of morale, character, bla bla bla is just rhetoric.
Ask the family Buss about it.

KL...
Move on.
Shaq is in the past.
Go to Miami heat, buy the league pack.
Shaq should be out of NBA in 2 years.
Hamburgers and food will finish him before than late.
If you love Shaq that much, so be it.
If you don't like Kobe, so be it.
We got you. We know already your pain and suffering.
I know this blog is a healing for your tortured soul.
We know that every Kobe move or smile will make you sick and allmost lead you to explode like a atomic bomb.
We know already that Kobe make your life miserable.
You should be happy.
Your pretty boy Walton is already gaining millions, thanks to the kobeachy.
So, let's celebrate...
Bring us some ribs from Walton restaurant.

Van Exel edie Jones.
Bynum wasn't the point of Kobe whine.
It was the personnel decision of the front office.
(Fans majority see the same problem).
He apologizing for the video. Doing so, first in private.
Later in public.
He easily could have keep it quiet and nobody would know.

“Are you blind and deaf? Kobe already stated that Buss told him he would trade Shaq regardless of whether or not he stayed -- and Shaq said he believed him. And like I said, Kobe already apologized to Shaq for all that mess.”
I don’t see your point and I can’t hear what your saying. I know haha. We can agree to disagree, it’s called propaganda and spin my friend. Shaq agreed with kobe because Shaq wanted to stay out of kobe’s drama-fest. Kobe never apologized to shaq. Nice try on the last point.
“Hello? Anybody home? KG sought Kobe out to talk to him. He wouldn't have done that if he wasn't interested in joining Kobe on the Lakers. 'Nuff said.”
My question to you is why isn’t KG here…..i know because front office [blah, blah]. There’s always an excuse for your buddy kobiatch bry-RANT.
“Anyway, actions speak louder than words”
And I agree, name one free agent of stature to play in LA after shaq's departure? Grant “over the” Hill decided to play with the Suns. Rashard Lewis to Magic. Stackhouse remains with Dallas. What about all the NBA guys drooling to play with the “greatest basketball player in the history of the NBA”? I know, actions speak louder than words and it’s [fill in the blank]’s fault…..

Luke's Hero is Bryant. Luke really dosn't fit in kobe's team .The Lakers.
Luke's main feature is passing the ball he really cant shoot. He is too short.
Posted by: Joe | July 06, 2007 at 12:24 PM
Luke's salary is within parameters of a lot of sixth men. The mean of all salaries 2007-8 was about 5.5 million. He is a good guy with some skills. It might be a questionacle signing but it is not Raef Lafrenz, Steve Francis, Stephon Marbury, Kelvin Kato or Mo Taylor.
