Remember, if you're gonna watch the game on the KCAL broadcast later on, don't peek. Instead, occupy yourself for an hour by continuing to air "Manu-Gate" grievances on the earlier thread.

Alright Lake Show! Let's take care of Business!
Posted by: Ron | January 30, 2007 at 04:47 PM
its a travesty but go lakers we can win
Posted by: wow | January 30, 2007 at 04:48 PM
When Parker is the only guy who can score in the first quarter, we be in trouble guys!
Posted by: Ron | January 30, 2007 at 04:53 PM
4:37 left in the 1st and Parker has scored the only points for the Lakers.
Posted by: mel | January 30, 2007 at 04:54 PM
I don't like the fact that after almost 7 minutes of playing time, one player--SMUSH has all of the points. This is a team effort not one guy vs- the Knicks. Next thing you know SMUSH will be called a ball hog.
Colorado loves the LAKERS!
Posted by: Hugo Boss | January 30, 2007 at 04:57 PM
Smush starting strong. Only one scoring.
Posted by: Baywood | January 30, 2007 at 04:57 PM
Sorry I posted on the wrong thread!
It's a battle of the best. The Knicks are the best in the league in offensive rebounds. The Lakers are the best in letting the other team have it. We're going to spend a lot of time this evening under the Knicks' hoop.
Posted by: Tsphere | January 30, 2007 at 04:58 PM
This is one of the most boring games so far!
SHIT
Posted by: zz | January 30, 2007 at 04:59 PM
2:35 left in the 1st and Bynum's got 3 PF's already. You guys pissed off the league with all your e-mails!
Posted by: mel | January 30, 2007 at 04:59 PM
well this not not lookin too good, our offensive system not looking too crisp
Posted by: wow | January 30, 2007 at 05:00 PM
I watched Kobe's elbow several times. In slo-mo it may (remotely) look intentional, but at real speed it's a natural balancing act. I guess the NBA is getting very strict. We'll see if they apply it to Miami or LeBron???????????????
Posted by: Baywood | January 30, 2007 at 05:00 PM
Three personal fouls in the first Q for Bynum. It's fixing to be (fin'A) be a long night.
Colorado loves the LAKERS!
Posted by: Hugo Boss | January 30, 2007 at 05:01 PM
Smushh 11 rest of team 5
Posted by: Baywood | January 30, 2007 at 05:02 PM
I can't believe Phil started Sasha over Mo!
Posted by: ms. luxx | January 30, 2007 at 05:05 PM
Dumb azz Bynum....
Phil just taught his stupid self a lesson...
CONTROL YOURSELF!
KNOW HOW MANY FOULS YOU HAVE... dont expect the coach to bail you out...
Dude, you have two fouls in the 1st. Phil leaves you in. DONT FOUL STUPID!!!
wow....

Posted by: Ron | January 30, 2007 at 05:06 PM
How about our NY/NJ guys jump in and take care of business for L.A.? Smush, LO, Bynum...
Colorado loves the LAKERS!
Posted by: Hugo Boss | January 30, 2007 at 05:06 PM
Amazing! we're only down by 5 at the end of 1st
Odom starts 2nd with a basket. Down 3
Posted by: Baywood | January 30, 2007 at 05:08 PM
7:30 left in the 2nd and the Knicks already have 22 rebounds? Ay carumba.
Posted by: ms. luxx | January 30, 2007 at 05:16 PM
no luke, no kwame, no kobe....man this team has heart because they just keep trying to win no matter who is on the floor
Posted by: bob | January 30, 2007 at 05:21 PM
And why in the world we sign Vlade? He is dropping ball with the rate even higher than Kwame... Sime kind of infection about dropping the ball or what?
Posted by: LAL_Fan | January 30, 2007 at 05:27 PM
Vlad-Rad should be traded emediately, or if something like that doesn't happen than even waiving him won't be any loss!
Posted by: zz | January 30, 2007 at 05:28 PM
our team of nobodys is better than your team of nobodys....lol
Posted by: bob | January 30, 2007 at 05:28 PM
bob,
Unfortunately heart can not replace talent. Remember Mad Dog? He had a lot of heart, was not enough...
Posted by: LAL_Fan | January 30, 2007 at 05:31 PM
LAL_Fan
true, but they keep trying. Mad Dog used all his fouls but made some very good plays while he was out there.
Posted by: bob | January 30, 2007 at 05:35 PM
Don't blame Vlad. Without Kobe and Luke there's no rhythm, no structure to the play. That's how mistakes occur. Fortunately, it's the Knicks on the other side. They NEVER have rhythm or structure to their play.

can anybody post marc stein's espn insider article on this blog?
thanks,
Ash
Posted by: ash | January 30, 2007 at 05:40 PM
I got it, I got it. I fig it out...they didn't want kobe to play tonight because they didn't want NY fans to start the MVP chant for kobe again. lol
Posted by: bob | January 30, 2007 at 05:44 PM
We're holding on. I got a good feel about this one as we are getting more confident... and NY is worse than we are!
Posted by: Baywood | January 30, 2007 at 05:59 PM
Well, after a brief spurt of offensive ball, looks like we're back to the *clank* defensive rebound, rinse and repeat cycle.
And as I type that, Crawford gets called for a charge. woot.
Posted by: Lucas | January 30, 2007 at 06:02 PM
4 of 7 on FTs... how are we going to make 55 on this???
Posted by: Baywood | January 30, 2007 at 06:03 PM
We should win this one but man do both teams look bad...talk about playing down to the competition.
This is probably one of the ugliest games I've watched this year.
Uhm.. Go Lakers?
Hahah, let's win this and get Kobe back...MVP anybody?
Posted by: Brandon | January 30, 2007 at 06:10 PM
Please Keep Smush Parker on the bench!!
Posted by: Pfunk36 | January 30, 2007 at 06:12 PM
this is why kobe is mvp. no way phoenox plays like this whithout nash these guys are horrible a lottery team at best without kobe. if this doesnt show the media that kob makes these bums better then all the media should be subject to random drug testing! this is horrible these guys have no clue!kob for mvp!!!!!
Posted by: smooth d | January 30, 2007 at 06:13 PM
5 of 10 FTs let's pack and go home...
Posted by: Baywood | January 30, 2007 at 06:15 PM
Terrible end of quarter foul MoMo
Posted by: Brandon | January 30, 2007 at 06:15 PM
this team without kobe sucks balls....
Posted by: bob | January 30, 2007 at 06:15 PM
C'mon Jordan, few seconds left in the quarter, gotta pressure the ball, no open Starbury 3s please.
Posted by: Brandon | January 30, 2007 at 06:16 PM
Is it me or does Lamar Odom miss a minimum of three layups a game?
......Oh well, at least Luke Walton is not playing.
Posted by: pfunk36 | January 30, 2007 at 06:17 PM
They can't go home, not for another two weeks :-p
This is pretty hideous. No question Kobe is the Most Valuable Player. People always seem to have some weird definitions for "MVP" but that's what it stands for, and that's what Kobe is.
A 3 at the buzzer. Now my nightmare is complete.
Posted by: Lucas | January 30, 2007 at 06:18 PM
Hey, we're up to .455 free throw shooting. That must be the result of concentrating so hard on offensive rebounds, where we are in fact ahead, mainly thanks to 40% FG shooting.
Posted by: Tsphere | January 30, 2007 at 06:19 PM
can't make a free throws, come on their FREE
Posted by: bob | January 30, 2007 at 06:21 PM
Ain't no such thing as a Free Lunch or a Free Throw for that matter (when it comes to the Lakers)
Aren't the Lakers like one of the lower FT shooting teams in the NBA?
Posted by: Brandon | January 30, 2007 at 06:25 PM
Lets put this way... After Kobe we don't have anyone to take this team anywhere. Hardworking, heart all the nice word... We just lacking talent.. Bynum, our center of the future? Man, he is probably like 3-4 years away.
Posted by: LAL_Fan | January 30, 2007 at 06:28 PM
If Phil Jackson puts Smush back in the game he should be fired!!
Posted by: pfunk36 | January 30, 2007 at 06:33 PM
Here comes Smush!
Posted by: Laker Lover | January 30, 2007 at 06:36 PM
why is smush back in the game?
WHY???
Posted by: bob | January 30, 2007 at 06:37 PM
Real nice layup by odom, looked like he SHOT=PUT that ball into the Rim.
3 MInutes left, c'mon Lakers, clean it up.
Posted by: Brandon | January 30, 2007 at 06:39 PM
Either I am a psychic or Phil Jackson is an idiot.....Smush Parker is right on cue!!
