You know what I hate? Sometimes when we go into these other arenas their PA announcers make it sound like a freaking circus. This is especially annoying when the other team is playing well so the announcer has more reason to ham it up for the crowd. I miss you, Lawrence Tanter.
Sweet little up and under by Turiaf on that layup. Or, it looked like a sweet little up and under, I should say, since the camera angle inexplicably went to a long shot during the play. haha
Thats at least 3 BS calls. The Lakers are in for a long afternoon...Wade initiates the contact and still gets the foul call....B-ball officiating is the worse officiating in pro sports
Know what I liked? Seeing Turiaf and Smush put D-Wade on his ass during consecutive trips to the basket. Nothing dirty, but making it clear, it ain't gonna be easy hitting that rack.
Know what I hate AK? Seeing the same guy at the stripe OVER AND OVER AGAIN. I won't deny that one team just wants it more right now, and the Lakers need to be more aggressive going to the basket. But still. This is annoying. Damn you Dwyane Wade!
"Know what I liked? Seeing Turiaf and Smush put D-Wade on his ass during consecutive trips to the basket. Nothing dirty, but making it clear, it ain't gonna be easy hitting that rack."
The NBA needs to be punished for this lopsided refereeing garbage. They have made a mockery of the game, just like they did last year’s Finals. I hope that Wade shreds his knee with a season-ending injury. What will the NBA do then without their little princess?
No wonder the NBA is the third most watched sport behind baseball and football. It’s because of garbage like that.
Radmanovic driving into the basket, directly to Alonzo. He got a foul, but great job on Vlade making a very agressive play. Come on!!! Shut my mouth once and for all!!!
Uh...the triangle offense does NOT mean settling for a three point shot every time. Miami isn't even contesting those shots by Sasha because they know he can't shoot! Will somebody please make an open shot?
Did you guys catch the announcers telling Wade to get off the ground? "Is Wade in another commercial? Get off the ground...He's just playing 'possum." I love it.
why would you want wade to get on a stretcher? Don't you want kobe and the lakers to beat miami when their best player is in the game? Also, get your head checked out if you hope the nba players get injured while playing.
I never write when I watch games, but I had to vent, is not even funny, wade gets all the calls and Kobe almost gets his head chopped and no foul call.
The refs made sure the Lakers' bigs were out of the game to give this game to Miami.
And for those who fail to see what goes on in the nba they are truly naive. The Lakers will not win the game. And the refs made sure of that.
The nba has to make sure that on x-mas day their choosen one is best and make sure his team wins.
Like my cousin told me yesterday, 'I don't enjoy the nba anymore, its all fixed, and tomorrow miami will win and wade will get all the calls.'
And it is true, it is sad to see, even assiss. coach Frank said today, that they had to be careful because wade gets all the calls.
BTW: did anyone else feel sick watching all the love fest for wade? he doesn't need gifts, he's a giver, he's an actor(it shows), he's the best. Likee mark jackson said, I thought I saw him in my kitchen the other day .Soooooooooooooooo true!!!!
I have my tv on mute because I cannot take it anymore.
I see the future tomorrow's headlines, 'Kobe is not at the level wade is, kobe is not the best, blah, bla, blah.
Where is the foul on Wade when Ronny T. flushed it on him? Man, this is getting ridiculous. Good news is the Lakers are only down by 6 despite playing like garbage for most of the half. This is do-able.
And then the no call when he fouls Ronny on that dunk (nice dunk!)? Ok, I'm done with my bitch fest. I'm going to try to enjoy the game now. Hopefully the Lakers can steal one.
xyz- Yeah, that's Mark Jackson. I don't know what's wrong with Mike Breen-- he was announcing the Finals last year when Wade would fall down, pretend to limp, and then the next play recklessly attack the rim.
That's the way to do it Kobe!!!! Feed Ronny for the slam!!!! The Heat are the ones forcing it now!!!! Play strong defense and play unselfishness offense... and this game will belong to the Lakers!!!!
I don’t give a damn how they win this game. And if I want Wade on a stretcher then I want him on a stretcher. It’s my prerogative and what I want. You don't have to like it. Besides, the NBA without Wade would be a better league. No more phantom calls, and no more making a mockery of the game.
Man. NBA is riding the D-Wade bandwagon. Just like when he had his phantom-BS-nobody-touching-him-foul during the Finals last year. But in the end, the players decide the game, it's just the refs that make it harder for one side sometimes.
gabymilito: Game is also on TVU showing the ABC broadcast. Channel 32398 (though it's not labeled properly). Gotta love the guy who's broadcasting the feed!
The Lakers won't win this game, you can write it in stone.
It is only obvious it's a game ALL the media loving wade was looking forward to having as an 'example', to point out that wade is better than Kobe. plain and simple. Beginning at half time you'll hear about it, let the love fest begin.
Hey to tell you the truth I thought lebron got all the calls but nooooooooooooo wade is the media's love boy.=
Oh by the way faith, wade wishes he could be as good looking and classy as Kobe is.
Miami shot 21 FT to Lakers' 11. One sequence where Wade misses a jumper and yells and the ref blows the whistle on Kobe!!!! The refs are treating wade differently. Miami is being beat by every team and I'm sure the Lakers will beat the heck out of them. Man that sickness still seems to bother Kobe. Muster your will and determination Kobe.
McGarnagle: Either Breen is a little basketball clueless (or maybe more clueless than that), or he has BIG BROTHER (the media version) speaking in his headset telling him to spectacularize Wade. Maybe both! Mark Jackson on the other hand is a real baller
Alonzo Mourning is the guy I'm worried about. He has 3 blocks and the Lakers are shooting 37%. Still, if it weren't for those 6 phantom free-throws it would be a 1-point game. We're in decent shape here.
Boy, I can't watch any of the pregame or halftime of the DWade love-in.
One side benefit of the stricter technical foul calls has been Kobe not getting involved with the refs. But he seriously needs to get to get T'd up to get these 3 clowns attention.
The team is only down by 7. Some adjustments by PJ and a little more effort and the Lake Show should be all right. God, I can't stand Miami.
I'm watching the game right now on a non-tiVo t.v. (i know, I roughin' it) and so I can't rewind. I thought I heard one of the ABC announcers talking about killer instinct and taking the game over, And I thought I heard him say " Micheal Jordan had it, Kobe USED to have it!!"
"gabymilito: Game is also on TVU showing the ABC broadcast. Channel 32398 (though it's not labeled properly). Gotta love the guy who's broadcasting the feed!"
Thanks for the tip man, but for some reason TVU never worked for me, only Sopcast and PPMate.
The World Championships/ Olympics is where Wade really gets exposed. He played terribly, every time he touched the ball he travelled. The whole time he had this look on his face that said "I don't care if we lose as long as I look pretty for the cameras." Incidentally, Lebronze was also useless without his NBA Marketing-sanctioned buffer zone. Carmelo showed he's the only one of those three that has substance (at least as of right now) to back up the hype.
You know what they say about Wade... fall down 7 times, get 8 whistles.
I still maintain that last year's finals debacle won't be repeated. The NBA simply can't afford to alienate all its fans outside of Miami. If the Heat win again this year under these circumstances, I'm not sure I could watch another NBA game without feeling nauseous.

Finally someone who saw that!!!!!! It was so obvious!!!!!!! D-Wade and LeBron weren't the "favourite babes" in that tournament, and they got totally exposed to the hole world!!!!!! That didn't happend to the original Dream Team.... did it??? That didn't happend to Magic, Mike and Larry. But the NBA still needs to sell, still need to CREATE the new superstars. Lame.
Oh definitely - Lakers can't let the refs get to their heads... they have to stick to their game plan, play aggressive D, and run the triangle. STOP SHOOTING LAME THREE POINTERS
Parker sucks..he got burned by a 90 year old Payton...Kobe can't make crap..but he can get hot any moment...vujacic thinks he kobe bryant....wade is getting every single call..i guess its the xmas spirit
Baywood-
Where have you been? The Lakers have played this way since Lamar went out. It's just that now they're missing shots (and they were due after shooting the lights out last game).
PARKER NEEDS TO GO TO THE DOGHOUSE IN PHIL'S ROTATION...FARMAR SHOULD START AND VUJACIC ...YES VUJACIC..SHOULD COME OFF THE BENCH...AT LEAST SASHA GIVES ENERGY UNLIKE PARKER WHO LOOKS AS THOUGH HE IS DEAD THE WHOLE GAME....COOKY IS ALSO STRUGGLING FROM THE FIELD TODAY AND SO IS RAD...IF THEY CAN'T SHOOT THEY AREN'T ANY GOOD FOR THIS LAKERS TEAM..FOURTH QUARTER LINEUP SHOULD BE FARMAR KOBE WALTON EVANS AND TURIAF
What would Wade be without all of the phantom calls from the refs?
Harold Miner
Anyone who thinks he's the top player in the league or thinks he's the MVP is seriously hurting in the basketball knowledge department. Either that or they are trying to get a place in line for a chance to hold Wade's jock strap.
Man Lamar would be a big difference maker this game. Can't really describe why right now, I'm a little delirious at the moment, but it's just a gut feeling that feels pretty accurate
I DONT KNOW WHAT KIND OF D PHIL IS TEACHING...IF A GUY HAS A LAYUP..FOUL HIS ASS HARD ...RADMANOVIC IS SO SOFT...THESE SOFT EUROPEAN PLAYERS ON THE LAKERS..TURIAF DOESNT COUNT OF COURSE
IT'S ABSOLUTELY BULL CRAP THE CALLS WADE IS GETTING...THE CALLS HE GETS ..IF KOBE GOT THEM..KOBE WILL BE AVERAGE 38 PPG WITH A 55 PERCENT FG PERCENTAGE.....HE DRIVES TO THE LANE..BUMP...FOUL..DRIVES TO THE LANE..TURNS HIS BACK TO THE BASKET..JUMPS INTO A LAKER..AND THROWS IT BEHIND HIS HEAD..FOUL..WHEN KOBE..DRIVES TO THE LANE...FACES UP TO THE BASKETBALL....ABSORBS THE CONTACT FROM ZO AND SHOOTS..NO CALL..
I love D-Wade's game, and I definitely think he's a top-15, probably top-10 player in the game right now, but he's definitely the center of the media circus focus right now (for the NBA anyway). Some calls and non-calls that the referees have made would only have been made by blind people or people who don't understand the rules of the game. But damn, seriously it's the young Lakers team that seems like they are letting it affect them at the moment. The lackluster first half and the D-Wade bandwagon enthusiasm seems to have drained their mojo. They might have to let Kobe take the reins this fourth quarter
Kobe needs to play agressive D on Wade... or Mo... they are nothing without the lady... and the Lakers need to get to the post without Zo... 10 down... still a game... great play by Ronni at the end of the 3rd... that's ENERGY!!!!!
Turiaf never stopped working under the basket, gets the putback and the bucket to close out the qaurter. Ronny needs to take some of that energy and dole it out to the rest of his team. They're a little lacking in that regard.
The bad part about this game is that it is a totally winnable game on the road. Miami is not that good. And don't think that this game doesn't give Orlando and Charlotte confidence that they can lbeat the Lakers. I just hate to see the team play so poorly.
With Kobe and Shaq “making up” there was no reason for the NBA to put these two teams up against each other on Christmas. But it is obvious the NBA has a hidden agenda:
Glorify Wade at the expense of Kobe and the Lakers.
Wade and the Heat are the flavor of the month, and it’s clear that they are kicking the crap out of the horse. What better way to solidify Wade’s stance than by setting the Lakers up for failure? Tack on the referees and it is evident that the Lakers have absolutely no chance to win this game.
It will be a sheer miracle and a slap to the face of the NBA and David Stern if the Lakers manage to win this game.
That charge against Vlad should have been a no call. Posey was planted enough that I can see why they didn't say it was blocking, but that little bit of final movement should have also kept him from drawing the foul, too. Tough one on Radmanovic.
OK... this is just pathetic... the worst game I've seen this season for LA. No concentration at all, and playing agaist a Shaqless Heat. Lame defense by the Lakers, and lame offense too. Kobe is having a terrible game, but no other Laker is stepping up either. Really really awful. I still have a little bit of faith...
Dwayne Wade has got to be one of the very few players in the league whose game I just don't respect. He had one good playoff series in '03, then all of a sudden he's teamed up with Shaq and he starts getting superstar foul calls which, as it turns out, become the entire basis of his game. Nobody can guard that little chump or else they get a whistle. Ugh.
I wish someone would validate what we all see...Oh wait, Rasheed Wallace (who isn't the most credible) and other players have. Well let's watch it continue...it ain't X-mas without the phantom.
I read this blog everry day ..only posting today cause I need to vent. Anyway...I've been a smush supporter, but I'm ready to jump on the start farmar banwaggon
Like I said, I don't think it should have been a foul on Posey because he did a nice job geting position and barely moved. It should have just been 2 points for Vlad and a no call.
-2gabymilito-
Yeah, he's stepping up all right... TO THE FREE THROW LINE!!!"
I know that, and I'm with you all the way... but we got to say that he've made 12/20 from the field... that's 12 FG... I hate the guy too, and what the league is making of him (a fake superstar), but he didn't suck today, that's all I'm saying. It's not as big as we'll read on the newspapers tomorrow, but he didn't suck at all.
The knee injury has slowed Kobe down..He is not the same player he was last year..He has to realize that and let somebody else (Evans) play the top scorer on the other team..
Every serious scorer guard has burned him this year, Allen, Arenas, Wade etc etc..
I am surprised Phil has not told im that..
That last foul does it for me. I just bought this TV and can't afford to throw my shoe through it. Time to change channels. Kobe gets hit on his jumper... no call...DWade gets the phantom call....priceless.
Hats off to the Heat...they kicked the Lakers azz today.
It's games like these, on national TV, that gives some of my ignorant friends reason to come up to me all year and say, "The Lakers really suck this year don't they?" They could end up with the 4th seed in the West and these people will still think that the Lakers ended up in the lottery. And hell, if this was the only game I watched all season, I'd probably think the Lakers suck, too.
Still on track for going .500 without LO, so that's an almost-positive.
Actually, this is the BEST refereeing I have ever seen. The refs have met every goal they set out for. They managed to make cry baby Wade look good. They made Kobe and the Lakers look bad. And Wade is leaving the court without a scratch.
It's just one game. Lakers haven't been the same team since LO got hurt, but he will be back sooner or later. Counting this loss, the Lakers will be 18-10; we're still doing better than most people outside of LA expected. Imagine if LO never got hurt...
Miami has sucked it up all year, as evidenced by their sub-.500 record. They'd be hovering around .500 even if Shaq was playing. The Lakers have shown that they're a better team this year, and we'll see who's the better player at the end, Kobe or Wade (No question in my mind).
Forget about Wade, take a look on our FG %. Forget about Kobe, nobody making any shot. They playing without O'Neal and even that did not help our bigs to have at least one good game for any of them. Both played like a garbage.
Phil is aware, I think it's just a matter of him saying, "It's my call, Kobe." And I would like to think that time's coming soon. They specifically got Evans for such occasions, and while you admire Kobe for being so competitive (even if, at times, he's too competitive for his own good), it's not a matter of whether he can or can't do it. It's a matter of what makes the most sense, which would be putting Mo on Wade.
yay game time...

Very impressive work by Kwame bodying his way into position against 'Zo to get that dunk. Great aggressiveness.

Posted by: Rizzo | December 25, 2006 at 12:25 PM
No travel there on Wade?
Posted by: JF | December 25, 2006 at 12:25 PM
ROFL. It looks like Wade is diving around the basket looking for calls to go his way
Posted by: MasterTard | December 25, 2006 at 12:26 PM
Anyone else notice the football pads D-Wade wears on his legs?
Posted by: JF | December 25, 2006 at 12:26 PM
Damn, Wade managed to get up after that fall. I was hoping the'd have to take his punk ass away on a stretcher.
Posted by: LoLo | December 25, 2006 at 12:26 PM
LOL! Thank you Mark Jackson.
Posted by: McGarnagle | December 25, 2006 at 12:26 PM
Did you guys catch the announcers telling Wade to get off the ground? "Is Wade in another commercial? Get off the ground...He's just playing 'possum." I love it.
Posted by: xyz | December 25, 2006 at 12:26 PM
Sit down Sasha... please sit down... come on Lakers!!! Go to the post!!!
Posted by: gabymilito | December 25, 2006 at 12:27 PM
Dwayne wade needs no help throwing himself on the floor.
Posted by: Rizzo | December 25, 2006 at 12:27 PM
Listen to Mike Breen. How gullible do you have to be to buy Wade's limp-wince routine even now?? What an idiot.
Posted by: McGarnagle | December 25, 2006 at 12:27 PM
Oh man, all of a sudden I miss Lamar Odom a lot. Even more than before.
Posted by: MasterTard | December 25, 2006 at 12:27 PM
This game is only a 6-0 run from being competitive.
Posted by: bronxlakerfan | December 25, 2006 at 12:28 PM
3 on each of Bynum and Kwame. Not good news at all. Small ball here we come.
Posted by: JF | December 25, 2006 at 12:28 PM
LoLo.
why would you want wade to get on a stretcher? Don't you want kobe and the lakers to beat miami when their best player is in the game? Also, get your head checked out if you hope the nba players get injured while playing.
go kobe!!
Posted by: kobe24isthebestplayer | December 25, 2006 at 12:29 PM
no one wants to shoot the ball...
Posted by: bob | December 25, 2006 at 12:29 PM
Posted by: lakofan | December 25, 2006 at 12:29 PM
FOUL!!!!!! GRRRRRRRRRRRr
Posted by: McGarnagle | December 25, 2006 at 12:31 PM
What was that foul??? He misses the shot and then two seconds later they blow a whistle? WTF??
Posted by: JF | December 25, 2006 at 12:31 PM
Wade misses so the refs bail him out
Posted by: nyla | December 25, 2006 at 12:31 PM
what is up with fouls?
everytime we try to cut into the lead they call a foul....
Posted by: bob | December 25, 2006 at 12:32 PM
Hmm... must say I'm glad we're only down 9 points right now. It feels like we should be down by 20
Posted by: MasterTard | December 25, 2006 at 12:32 PM
That last foul on Wade was just pure BS.
Posted by: bronxlakerfan | December 25, 2006 at 12:32 PM
Kobe 1/8... still forcing it... the officials won't give him any call this afternoon... it's all D-Wade... the little girl of the NBA...
Posted by: gabymilito | December 25, 2006 at 12:33 PM
haha, Kobe got rejected! :D
Posted by: Tsiry R. | December 25, 2006 at 12:34 PM
Ronny just posterized Wade yet they didn't even acknowledge that Ronny made Wade look like the little punk that he is.
Posted by: LoLo | December 25, 2006 at 12:34 PM
Ronny i love you dawg!...
P.S Ronny you don't treat the princess like that! lmfao

SOPCAST really sucking today!!!! Too many interruptions on CCTV5!!!!
Posted by: gabymilito | December 25, 2006 at 12:35 PM
Lakofan lemme add something(s) to that...
Kobe is not as pretty...
Kobe doesn't play team ball (of course they missed that pass to Turiaf in transition)
Kobe is the grinch who stole christmas
Gosh I hope we win this game! ARG
Posted by: Faith | December 25, 2006 at 12:35 PM
If ronnie was wearing a red and white jersey it would of been an and one
GO RONNIE
Posted by: nyla | December 25, 2006 at 12:35 PM
Where is the foul on Wade when Ronny T. flushed it on him? Man, this is getting ridiculous. Good news is the Lakers are only down by 6 despite playing like garbage for most of the half. This is do-able.
Posted by: bronxlakerfan | December 25, 2006 at 12:35 PM
And then the no call when he fouls Ronny on that dunk (nice dunk!)? Ok, I'm done with my bitch fest. I'm going to try to enjoy the game now. Hopefully the Lakers can steal one.
Posted by: JF | December 25, 2006 at 12:36 PM
So Wade can hit Ronny in the face, on the 2 hand dunk...but if you whisper to Wade its a foul...I can't stand the refs.
Posted by: wilcox2020 | December 25, 2006 at 12:36 PM
xyz- Yeah, that's Mark Jackson. I don't know what's wrong with Mike Breen-- he was announcing the Finals last year when Wade would fall down, pretend to limp, and then the next play recklessly attack the rim.
Posted by: McGarnagle | December 25, 2006 at 12:36 PM
That's the way to do it Kobe!!!! Feed Ronny for the slam!!!! The Heat are the ones forcing it now!!!! Play strong defense and play unselfishness offense... and this game will belong to the Lakers!!!!
Posted by: gabymilito | December 25, 2006 at 12:37 PM
WTF is going on?? They can't play AT ALL!! Kobe sucks, he can't shoot, defend, ANYTHING!!
Posted by: Simone | December 25, 2006 at 12:38 PM
Kobe24,
I don’t give a damn how they win this game. And if I want Wade on a stretcher then I want him on a stretcher. It’s my prerogative and what I want. You don't have to like it. Besides, the NBA without Wade would be a better league. No more phantom calls, and no more making a mockery of the game.
Posted by: LoLo | December 25, 2006 at 12:38 PM
Man. NBA is riding the D-Wade bandwagon. Just like when he had his phantom-BS-nobody-touching-him-foul during the Finals last year. But in the end, the players decide the game, it's just the refs that make it harder for one side sometimes.
Posted by: MasterTard | December 25, 2006 at 12:39 PM
gabymilito: Game is also on TVU showing the ABC broadcast. Channel 32398 (though it's not labeled properly). Gotta love the guy who's broadcasting the feed!
Posted by: MasterTard | December 25, 2006 at 12:41 PM
The difference in the game ...10ft for the lakers, to 10ft for Wade!
Posted by: Bonez | December 25, 2006 at 12:41 PM
wayne kicking Kobe's butt LOL
Posted by: lulu | December 25, 2006 at 12:44 PM
The Lakers won't win this game, you can write it in stone.
It is only obvious it's a game ALL the media loving wade was looking forward to having as an 'example', to point out that wade is better than Kobe. plain and simple. Beginning at half time you'll hear about it, let the love fest begin.
Hey to tell you the truth I thought lebron got all the calls but nooooooooooooo wade is the media's love boy.=
Oh by the way faith, wade wishes he could be as good looking and classy as Kobe is.
Posted by: lakofan | December 25, 2006 at 12:44 PM
Miami shot 21 FT to Lakers' 11. One sequence where Wade misses a jumper and yells and the ref blows the whistle on Kobe!!!! The refs are treating wade differently. Miami is being beat by every team and I'm sure the Lakers will beat the heck out of them. Man that sickness still seems to bother Kobe. Muster your will and determination Kobe.
Posted by: lakersfan the "wolf" | December 25, 2006 at 12:45 PM
McGarnagle: Either Breen is a little basketball clueless (or maybe more clueless than that), or he has BIG BROTHER (the media version) speaking in his headset telling him to spectacularize Wade. Maybe both! Mark Jackson on the other hand is a real baller
Posted by: MasterTard | December 25, 2006 at 12:45 PM
Alonzo Mourning is the guy I'm worried about. He has 3 blocks and the Lakers are shooting 37%. Still, if it weren't for those 6 phantom free-throws it would be a 1-point game. We're in decent shape here.
Posted by: McGarnagle | December 25, 2006 at 12:45 PM
Thats why Ronny needs PT. He's played 9 minutes in the last 5 games, comes in and drops 8/4 with D in 9 minutes. What a professional.
Posted by: wilcox2020 | December 25, 2006 at 12:46 PM
Halftime score: Wade 10 FT's - Kobe 0 FT's
Something funny is going on in this league. This game is being packaged as a Dwyane Wade Infomercial.
Posted by: Jman449 | December 25, 2006 at 12:47 PM
how does ronny get an arm to the face from wade on that dunk and not get a call.. wow
Posted by: tp | December 25, 2006 at 12:48 PM
Boy, I can't watch any of the pregame or halftime of the DWade love-in.
One side benefit of the stricter technical foul calls has been Kobe not getting involved with the refs. But he seriously needs to get to get T'd up to get these 3 clowns attention.
The team is only down by 7. Some adjustments by PJ and a little more effort and the Lake Show should be all right. God, I can't stand Miami.
Posted by: bronxlakerfan | December 25, 2006 at 12:48 PM
Did I hear what I think I heard??
I'm watching the game right now on a non-tiVo t.v. (i know, I roughin' it) and so I can't rewind. I thought I heard one of the ABC announcers talking about killer instinct and taking the game over, And I thought I heard him say " Micheal Jordan had it, Kobe USED to have it!!"
Did anybody else hear that too??
Just curious.
>_<

Posted by: MasterTard | December 25, 2006 at 12:57 PM
Does one game tell who is the best player? NO
Does one game make the miami heat better than the Lakers ? NO
Posted by: lakofan | December 25, 2006 at 12:57 PM
You know what they say about Wade... fall down 7 times, get 8 whistles.
I still maintain that last year's finals debacle won't be repeated. The NBA simply can't afford to alienate all its fans outside of Miami. If the Heat win again this year under these circumstances, I'm not sure I could watch another NBA game without feeling nauseous.
Posted by: McGarnagle | December 25, 2006 at 01:00 PM
I don't have a boxscore right here, but I know kobes got at least 2 fts. We need to start get some rebounds. They're killin us on the boards.

Lame.
Posted by: gabymilito | December 25, 2006 at 01:07 PM
Kobe is going to work himself into a rhythm and score some points.
Posted by: bronxlakerfan | December 25, 2006 at 01:08 PM
Kobe gets mauled by Wade on a shot attempt, doesn’t get the call, and ABC conveniently forgets to replay it.
Wade? Committing a foul? Shut yo’ mouth!
Posted by: LoLo | December 25, 2006 at 01:09 PM
The day a read or hear a media member or an analyst bring up all these shady stuff in the nba. I will admire that writer or analyst.
But no one has the courage to write or say anything because they are afraid of not getting to the next level in their career.
And for those who think we look at it just as fans, it is not true, we look at it as expectators of basketball, and what goes on ruins basketball.

Posted by: nyla | December 25, 2006 at 01:15 PM
Oh definitely - Lakers can't let the refs get to their heads... they have to stick to their game plan, play aggressive D, and run the triangle. STOP SHOOTING LAME THREE POINTERS

Kobe 10 and he's the only one in double figures... most awful performance.
1 of 14 3 pts

Why does Wade look 90, but move like he's 19?
Posted by: xyz | December 25, 2006 at 01:23 PM
Posted by: TOM | December 25, 2006 at 01:24 PM
I guess you can't look at Wade, or it's a foul. What a shame for the sport. Everyone is watching the refs not the freaking game.
Posted by: Lamar | December 25, 2006 at 01:24 PM
What would Wade be without all of the phantom calls from the refs?
Harold Miner
Anyone who thinks he's the top player in the league or thinks he's the MVP is seriously hurting in the basketball knowledge department. Either that or they are trying to get a place in line for a chance to hold Wade's jock strap.
Posted by: LoLo | December 25, 2006 at 01:24 PM
They need a little spurt....right now!!
Kobe should have flushed that fast break basket...he set up Ronny for that block with that unselfish BS!
Posted by: bronxlakerfan | December 25, 2006 at 01:27 PM
Man Lamar would be a big difference maker this game. Can't really describe why right now, I'm a little delirious at the moment, but it's just a gut feeling that feels pretty accurate

Posted by: Faith | December 25, 2006 at 01:32 PM
nice one by ronnie. he should have made the lay up tho. i hope the lakers win this game. it would be a nice christmas present for all of us
Posted by: damnboy | December 25, 2006 at 01:32 PM
I love D-Wade's game, and I definitely think he's a top-15, probably top-10 player in the game right now, but he's definitely the center of the media circus focus right now (for the NBA anyway). Some calls and non-calls that the referees have made would only have been made by blind people or people who don't understand the rules of the game. But damn, seriously it's the young Lakers team that seems like they are letting it affect them at the moment. The lackluster first half and the D-Wade bandwagon enthusiasm seems to have drained their mojo. They might have to let Kobe take the reins this fourth quarter
Posted by: MasterTard | December 25, 2006 at 01:34 PM
SMUSH NO D PARKER BETTER NOT BE IN THE GAME IN THE FOURTH .....SMUSH NO SHOT PARKER..SMUSH NO HEART PARKER..SMUSH NO INTELLIGENCE PARKER
Posted by: TOM | December 25, 2006 at 01:34 PM
Kobe needs to play agressive D on Wade... or Mo... they are nothing without the lady... and the Lakers need to get to the post without Zo... 10 down... still a game... great play by Ronni at the end of the 3rd... that's ENERGY!!!!!
Posted by: gabymilito | December 25, 2006 at 01:35 PM
Turiaf never stopped working under the basket, gets the putback and the bucket to close out the qaurter. Ronny needs to take some of that energy and dole it out to the rest of his team. They're a little lacking in that regard.

The bad part about this game is that it is a totally winnable game on the road. Miami is not that good. And don't think that this game doesn't give Orlando and Charlotte confidence that they can lbeat the Lakers. I just hate to see the team play so poorly.

"Well, we are now very rich, so that's a big difference..."
Posted by: Ken | December 25, 2006 at 01:36 PM
Posted by: LoLo | December 25, 2006 at 01:36 PM
OK... now we gotta be honest... Wade is taking over... Kobe isn't... that's a fact.

That charge against Vlad should have been a no call. Posey was planted enough that I can see why they didn't say it was blocking, but that little bit of final movement should have also kept him from drawing the foul, too. Tough one on Radmanovic.

Kobe is having a terrible game, but no other Laker is stepping up either. Really really awful. I still have a little bit of faith...
Posted by: gabymilito | December 25, 2006 at 01:42 PM
may our bench make a 25-0 run in this quarter. Go Lakers!!!!
Posted by: Tsiry R. | December 25, 2006 at 01:43 PM
had to turn it off.
Ugh.

Yeah, he's stepping up all right... TO THE FREE THROW LINE!!!

Teh referees will do their job now, they will allow the game to get close so they won't lose the audience.
Posted by: bronxlakerfan | December 25, 2006 at 01:43 PM
That is HILARIOUS!! A couple of calls don’t go Miami’s way and what does Riley do?
HE PUTS WADE BACK IN.
HMMM. I wonder why?
Well, at least he knows who his daddy is.
Posted by: LoLo | December 25, 2006 at 01:43 PM
Whoa, what the hell was that pass by Sasha? I wonder if that'll go in the record books as a shot attempt! HAHAHAHA

I think Kobe is too stubborn..He should let Evans play wade

I can see why Mike Breen is the new voice of the NBA: no wit, no sense of irony, and a straight-faced gullibility.
Posted by: McGarnagle | December 25, 2006 at 01:45 PM
Tough on everyone.

Turiaf 13 Kobe 12... where is Kobe?
Our worst game this season and on Natioanl TV, and on Christmas
Posted by: Baywood | December 25, 2006 at 01:46 PM
I don't see how they going to win this game unless somebody ready to step up. Our bigs just a disastrous, playing against ZO.
Posted by: LAL_Fan | December 25, 2006 at 01:47 PM
Ken, did Mrs. (I can't spell her first name) Wade say that really?

I wish someone would validate what we all see...Oh wait, Rasheed Wallace (who isn't the most credible) and other players have. Well let's watch it continue...it ain't X-mas without the phantom.

Oh man, I think somebody needs to whisper into Sasha's ear and tells him he can do something other than three point shots.
Posted by: MasterTard | December 25, 2006 at 01:50 PM
Bronx,
Like I said, I don't think it should have been a foul on Posey because he did a nice job geting position and barely moved. It should have just been 2 points for Vlad and a no call.

Mrs. Wade has set black women back 100 years....

If they try to get the points back with threes, it's going to be a long Christmas.

gaby-
Yeah, but I could hit 12/20 from the field if you weren't allowed to stand near me without giving me free throws.
Posted by: McGarnagle | December 25, 2006 at 01:54 PM
The knee injury has slowed Kobe down..He is not the same player he was last year..He has to realize that and let somebody else (Evans) play the top scorer on the other team..
Every serious scorer guard has burned him this year, Allen, Arenas, Wade etc etc..
I am surprised Phil has not told im that..
Posted by: KeenObserver | December 25, 2006 at 01:54 PM
or a fast one.
Posted by: Faith | December 25, 2006 at 01:57 PM
And the NBA wonders why ratings are falling. When you display garbage like this, anybody with any basketball common sense is not going to watch.
Posted by: LoLo | December 25, 2006 at 02:00 PM
4/17 for Kobe... 12/20 for the lady... get ready for the TV and newspapers shows, they're already loving it.
Posted by: gabymilito | December 25, 2006 at 02:01 PM
That last foul does it for me. I just bought this TV and can't afford to throw my shoe through it. Time to change channels. Kobe gets hit on his jumper... no call...DWade gets the phantom call....priceless.
Hats off to the Heat...they kicked the Lakers azz today.
Posted by: bronxlakerfan | December 25, 2006 at 02:02 PM
Thank you LAKERS for SCREWING UP ON NATIONAL TV. REAL TREAT FOR ALL LA FANS!!!
Posted by: LAL_Fan | December 25, 2006 at 02:03 PM
They're embarrassingus on purpose someone knock them on their ass.
Posted by: nyla | December 25, 2006 at 02:03 PM
This game was about Miami's defense. They shout the middle down and the Lakers couldn't figure it out.

I do wonder why Laker ratings are rising...must be actually good "fair" (heck sometimes it's against all odds...and by odds I mean referees) games.
Well that's it. Keep your head up boys, sure you coulda played better but there was no way we were winning this game. Merry Christmas!
Posted by: Faith | December 25, 2006 at 02:04 PM
somebody needs to tell the Lakers to get some damn sleep before the games.
if they play this damn christmas thing again next year, it better be in LA.
of course the Lakers didn't do their part, but the ref advantage put our guys in the hole.
Posted by: socalife | December 25, 2006 at 02:04 PM

Posted by: LoLo | December 25, 2006 at 02:04 PM
Ruined my Christmas, and we'll be hearing about it ad nauseam. BUT we still have the better team and I like our chances this year.
GO LAKERS!
Posted by: xyz | December 25, 2006 at 02:05 PM
It couldn't have gone better for David Stern if he had scripted it.
Posted by: McGarnagle | December 25, 2006 at 02:05 PM
i'm still wondering how an arm in the face of Ronny Turiaf on the dunnk ISN'T a foul on D.Wade.
Posted by: socalife | December 25, 2006 at 02:05 PM
It's just one game. Lakers haven't been the same team since LO got hurt, but he will be back sooner or later. Counting this loss, the Lakers will be 18-10; we're still doing better than most people outside of LA expected. Imagine if LO never got hurt...
Miami has sucked it up all year, as evidenced by their sub-.500 record. They'd be hovering around .500 even if Shaq was playing. The Lakers have shown that they're a better team this year, and we'll see who's the better player at the end, Kobe or Wade (No question in my mind).
Posted by: Neverfear | December 25, 2006 at 02:06 PM
Forget about Wade, take a look on our FG %. Forget about Kobe, nobody making any shot. They playing without O'Neal and even that did not help our bigs to have at least one good game for any of them. Both played like a garbage.
Posted by: LAL_Fan | December 25, 2006 at 02:06 PM
Keen,
Phil is aware, I think it's just a matter of him saying, "It's my call, Kobe." And I would like to think that time's coming soon. They specifically got Evans for such occasions, and while you admire Kobe for being so competitive (even if, at times, he's too competitive for his own good), it's not a matter of whether he can or can't do it. It's a matter of what makes the most sense, which would be putting Mo on Wade.
