Rambis Uncut! (Except for the Editing...)
Doubtful today will be remembered on par with the day Jonas Salk put the finishing touches on his polio vaccine, but I think we've made a breakthrough in the audio department. Here's a clip of Kurt Rambis from Media Day, talking about the whole situation with Phil, and what effect it might have. Again, we'll get better at separating wheat from chaff as we go along, but right now the goal is getting the clips up. Download rambis_edit.mp3
BK

AK/BK,
Can't thank you enough. Best Blog of the Internet.
I read and listened to all of your threads in the last 24 Hrs (full time job!).
Kobe's words about Lamar bowled me over. I loved and respected Kobe thru thick and thin. My reward was to hear him talk so maturely and from the heart.
Proud to be a Laker

Thanks BK,
He said during the interview that it was hard to say who has impressed him because alot of the guys wern't around yet to evaluate.
???
So wouldn't the fact that Andrew and others were there be impressive. :)
Glad to hear that the kid is starting to bulk up.

You'd like to hear that the entire team has come back from vacation yoked and focused with 07 NBA Champs tatooed on their arms. You'd like to hear from the rooks to the vets the staff is totally impressed. You'd like to hear more of the phrase "exceeding expectations" but this is another pre season, a season that our coach doesn't like to acknowledge, a season that comes with stories of rehab, and healing, and hopes. Rambis sounds comfortable in the art of guarded optimism and complete confidence. Go Lakers.

One thing all the interviews agreed on: Bynum has bulked up. That is good news.

Have you guys heard much about what the players think of the new ball? It sounds like not many people are liking it and it may lead to some sloppy play during the season. Interested in what Kobe thinks. Hopefully he's been playing with it while injured to get the feel down...

Good job guys. You guys are going crazy with these posts. I think youve put up more threads in this last week than the whole summer LOL (j/k). Thx for the updates. Its good to hear all the positive stuff (even though its standard). I cant wait til we get some Laker action. I hope Bynum gets some PT since the guy looks huge. Plus he's on my fantasy team lol. Once we get our full team to 100% (kobe, Mihm, PJ, and I guess Smush now) we are gonna be a big threat in the West. I thought that PJ was right that even though everyone got better in the West someone has to win and someone has to lose so not everyone is gonna have great records. This means when we play teams in the East we have to win all those games for us to succeed in the West. Cant wait... Keep up the good job on the updates.
GO LAKERS!!!

here's what Kobe thinks of the new basketball:
``I’m old-school, so I love the old-school balls that I grew up playing with,’’ Bryant said. ``But at the end of the day, a ball is a ball. Just go out there and play with it.’’
``It’s just a ball,’’ Bryant said. ``Growing up, I played with all kinds of balls. I rolled up tape and used tape as a basketball. I played with a sock. I think I can play with this one. We’ll be fine. I don’t even think it’s that big of a deal.’’

I think the League played themselves in changing the Basketball.
At first I thought It was kinda cool (the idea and the design), but after hearing mostly all of the players complain about the grip and feel of the ball, its evident the League messed up big time.
The way I see it, is they should have had some sort of league-wide vote set in place so the PLAYERS can decide whether to change the ball..... NOT some league officials or executives (or who ever the hell decided) who dont dribble a basketball EVER and probaly cant hit a jumpshot to save their lives. Its absolutely STUPID in my opinion.
Thats like a large office company suddenly changing all of the computers and system software over the weekend so that when the employees come back to work on monday they dont even know how to log onto their computers nor how to use the new software to do their jobs. THis is what happens when the powers that be have their heads so far up their @$$es that they cant make functional or rational decisions the way they should.

Blaze1bx,
Don't buy into the crying about that ball. The only one really complaining is Shaq. If Shaq liked the old ball so much, why can't he shoot better. All he can do is dunk anyway, so what does it matter to him. I agree with what Kobe said about playing with any kind of ball. I remember playing with a slick ball in the rain, and on dirt.

Ken, there are a ton of players complaining about the ball. We'll see if they do after a couple of months, but if you think it's just Shaq, you're either closing your eyes, or being irrational.
Posted by: Michael A | October 06, 2006 at 07:33 PM
Michael A.
"Irrational"? - Shaq said that whomever chose to go with that ball should have their "college degrees revoked". He then went on a rant for about 5 minutes. Thats what I meant, no one else did anything like that that I am aware of. Either way, I don't want to hear anything else about the ball issue, its weak.
