Extra! Extra! (10.5)
The Lakers lost to Phoenix in part because Smush Parker broke — and broke hard — after a relentless, seven game serving of Steve Nash. In fairness, Nash does that to a lot of guys, but reality is reality, and the reality is that Parker was abused. Heading into this season, he believes the experience will make him a better player. Which is good, because the newbie in the backcourt may see some time with L.A.'s other team. (Not that other team, but the other other team).
What do do with that Radmanovic guy? Sad the Lakers missed out on the Mo Taylor, um, sweepstakes? Here are a few other guys who are still available as camps open across the NBA. And yes, should the Lakers sign Michael Olowokandi, you have our permission to storm Lakers HQ with pitchforks and torches.
By the way, so much has been made of Andrew Bynum gettin' all swolled up that we want to make it clear that at Lakers Blog, we've been working hard all summer and are looking pretty yoked.

Woot 1st post! In a while. Training camp! Yay! Hope they improve their D. Go lakers! (Cant type much, surfing using phone)go lakers go!

wow i've never been on time with a lakers blog update. i'm usually like 48th comment or 139th.
ok, enough of my excitement. but are we excited to see farmar get some pt? are we really desperate at the pg spot ..... i guess we are. so hopefully we can see farmar just not turnover the ball, and take ill advised shots as we saw at ucla time and time again.
onto mo taylor. haha sorry....
HAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAHEHEEEHEEEEH HOOOOOO *cough* HEHEEHEHHEHE HAAHAHAH *breathe* HAHA
yes, mo taylor was good. key word, "was". but how come the lakers and maybe some of their fans love to get players that used to be good. what do i mean?
shall we start the list off with mitch richmond, bob mcadoo, ho grant, john salley, and jerome kersey to name a few? hahaha we might as well pick up kevin willis and glen robinson too. haha

"What Ak/BK working hard all summer and they are looking pretty yoked."
They surely are, as debate referees and sometimes protaganists themselves. Nonetheless, it was a great summer because of the efforts of the K-Bros.
With regards to available F/A, no way, the lakers have 19 players on hand that's enough to form two teams. Do they need additional trash or recycled players like Candyman, Van, Shan, Lammond and Derek? It'll be hard to teach old dogs with new tricks. Let's go for the young guys.

i love the idea of our offense this year...it will be really good. at the same time, the statement that our offense can be our defense is a little worrisome. i think we can have a very good and efficient offense, especially with all the mismatches we can create. at the same time, were just a different team than phoenix. their offense is their defense cuz they run so much, shoot so many 3s, and dare you to try to score more than them...which almost no team can. on the other hand, i think playing defense will be more critical for us than them. i have no worries about our offense....we had a pretty good offense last year anyways. and our offseason additions will only help and so will everyone going into the season comfortable in the triangle. the key will be our defense and if our defense is good, i have to think we'll be one of the better teams in the league.

We'll take your word for it, haha.
It seems like the laker players did work out a lot this summer, all are bigger than last year. I guess they spent a lot of time working out together. Lets hope it helps them win more games.

Jerome Kersey played for the Lakers? Awesome! Did he do much of anything?

"Parker shot 33.3 percent in the playoffs, including 4 for 26 (15.4) percent from three-point range, with just 1.6 steals per game."
If that doesn't wake a sleeping giant, I don't know what will!!

AK/BK,
The only player on that list even worth discussing is Sprewell. Everyone else would be a bad lateral move from a young player of similar ability. Certainly cant touch D. Anderson without cutting, thorn in the side of the bench, McKie. Man would I love to have LaRon back if we could cut that guy. McKie, I really liked when he was younger, but now is just taking up a roster spot on my favorite team that could go Pinnock or Devin Green. I also think that Von Wafer's life in a Lakers' uniform is going to be short-lived. Just my thoughts.

I would like Devin Green and Laron Profit to make the team too, but I don't even think Profit is in the discussion.

One thing I miss seeing on defense and I would like to see Lamar, Kwame, Ronny and Bynum lear to do is pull the chair out like Malone used to do. You never see it done. I have to admit I didn't watch a whole lot of Jazz games but I have seen him do it then and I remember him doing it to both KG and Yao when he was with us and happy. It was amazing to watch the guys come crashing and lose their footing creating a turnover. Turnovers are the best thing to boost defensive percentages. Lets get some tape sessions going Rambis and show the kids how it is done.

That's a really good move. I think players today just aren't as savvy as back then. It's more of an offensive game so most guys just fine tune that. Actually most high schools don't even reward defensive minded players with PT. It's all about buckets.

AK/BK,
I think we're all glad to here that you guys haven't let yourselves go over a long summer lol.
