Real Mambas are Deadly, but Don't Talk (Except in Adorable Animated Movies)
Memo to Kobe Bryant (and his 14 T's):
The Pistons can afford to drop a game in Sheed's absence. The Lakers can't afford to lose jack. The Pistons are also deep enough to win a game without him. And yeah, the Lakers can indeed win without you, too. Unfortunately, the team's already played both its games against the Knicks. So a friendly reminder. Until April 19th, gotta keep that yap shut, no matter how pissed you are.
P.S. If you absolutely, positively must make your displeasure known, remember that Devin Green, Socks, Turiaf and Wafer are all rookies required to carry out your bidding. Come up with some kind of signal, and make them take turns screaming at the refs every time you're unhappy with a no-call. They may not phrase everything exactly to your liking, but verbal genius must occasionally be sacrificed for the good of the team.

Funny - aren't those the same five names I mentioned?

Note - Lebron is winning that poll by a good margin, with Nash and Billups in 2nd and 3rd.
There's also this: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/basketball/nba/04/03/lebron.ap/index.html

You mean Sports Illustrated, the swim suit model magazine...they do sports too?

MVP??? In Sports Illustrated??
I'll go for Nash guys. =) Without Nash..Suns maybe in the bottom of the Pacific Div.
Respect. =)
If Lebron and Wade wins that Poll...its gotta be the popularity. C'mon guys lets get real. Lebron and Wade can't be the MVP for this season and we all know that.
ITS SHOWTIME!

Up late because my son is sick so naturally I'm taking the opportunity to check the Laker schedule again.
All of a sudden the next 3 games look extremely loseable. Most of us have secretly penciled in the loss to Phoenix on the 2nd of a back to back, but beating Denver at home in the altitude isn't a given. Then of course the Clips will come with everything they can muster in the final battle for LA.
3 losses would be another natural disaster. 3 wins would be impressive enough to warrant insane optimism. Yeah, that's better, back to sleep.

for once I agree with you Sonny. S.I. is the swim suit model magazine.

Question: Does the technical rule carry over into the playoffs? In other words, if Kobe gets tech # 16 in Game 2 of the first round, does he have to sit out Game 3?
Posted by: Barry Saylor | April 04, 2006 at 08:29 AM
I think it starts over for the playoffs. You get suspended after two, or something like that.

Kavulic needs to stand up, be a man, and give Florida major props for that UCLA shut down. What's crazy is, I'm watching the game last night and all I could think about is how steamed Kavulic was at that utter dismantling!!! Right on to, Maguelin for bringing it up!!! I believe the guy from Florida was EXODUS! I'm sure he's recovering from a night of rabid celebration!!! Kavulic, Man Up Playa!!! You're looking like every negative applied to L.A. sports fans right now!! Selfish, immature, self absorbed, casual fan until the hype starts (cause nobody was talking that UCLA sh*t until last week!!!)
As a Blog Brother, someone I consider family, you're looking like the retarded Uncle we keep inside the house, in his room, and feed him TV dinners while he watches the Peoples Court with Judge Wapner!!!

Just for sh*ts and giggles, Kobe should get the two techs in the last game of the season. Hopefully that game will be officiated by Jack Nies (the ultimate Laker hater ref) so he could really get his money's worth!!!

If I'm not mistaken, the technicals count will still continue into the playoffs. So if Kobe gets #16, that would mean that for every other technical after that, Kobe will get suspended 1 game.
Anybody know the rules for sure?
MVP balloting additions...Elton Brand yes, Yao (not even close, didn't start playing until after Allstar), Shaq (not even close), Kobe without a doubt should be at least considered.

And Mitch, if Kobe gets 2 techs in the last game of the season, his suspension would start with the first game of the playoffs :)
Let's hope if Kobe goes postal, he'll do it in the 2nd to last game of the season. Better yet, just keep his cool til June.

Hmmm...reading the article about Rasheed's 1 game suspension, it looks like the "technicals" count will get reset at the start of the playoffs. Still I'm not sure.
Posted by: Brandon | April 04, 2006 at 01:56 PM
Finally found it, according to ESPN, the technicals are reset back to 0 at the end of the regular season. During the Playoffs, you need to get 7 for the first suspension.
