If the Knicks don't want "Star Child" I think it would be a good idea for the Lakers to consider trading Lamar for Marbury. A Kobe/Marbury backcourt will rule the west. Finding big bodies to rebound and set screens can't be all that hard. With another player that demands attention on the floor with Kobe imagine how wide open the game would be for the rest of the team.

I think part of the problem last night was that the "BLOG" was inside out. "A" for effort for both the blog and the Lake Show. Manu and Finley couldn't do that again in practice let alone another game. It's hard to make a 3 but once you prove you got the touch from that range, you [the defender] no longer play off them????? Any other shot but not that particular one, not tonight. So we learn, as Kobe said, it's just a shame we had to learn when we had the buzz goin'. Still, a couple wins in a row changes everything back.

im so sick of charles barkley. not only are his comments and views completely biased, but they are also wrong.
remember how before the all star game he said something along the lines of "look for kobe to be selfish with the ball and try to score a lot, he wants to win the MVP"
kobe, during the allstar game shared the ball and played extremely passively getting Tmac and other involved, totally unselfish and friendly.
im so sick of charles barkely and his egotistical attitude. and you know he doesnt like kobe either.
good effort lakers against the spurs... why no jim jackson?
and why did they take away two of kobes three point shots that were clearly behind the three point line?
Posted by: sylvain peltzer | March 07, 2006 at 12:29 PM
i'm so sick of them KOBE haters especially them reporters...
Posted by: bUCKY | March 07, 2006 at 01:09 PM
You all are nuts - the LA Bryants didn't have a good game last night, Kobe did. Without his 4th quarter pitch-n-chuck, it was a blowout.
You all want to diminish what Finley did, but think Kobe's shooting was just expected? Please - Kobe's right, sort of: forget having another superstar or two, how about just any group of guys who can play some defense and make a dunk/layup.
Stop deluding yourselves that this team is any good - Kobe masks that rotten stench coming from the arena.

Kobe haters need to get their own blog...go to a kobe hater blog or something...maybe a miami blog or a clippers blog...if it's not constructive don't even say anything!

From now on, I shall address the Los Angeles Lakers as the Los Angeles Bryants.
The Bryants have to beat NewOrleans it's crucial that they do. Damn Chris Paul is amazing. WOW Chris Paul man unbelievable just imagine how well he will play next season unbelievable!

I think we should forever refer to Charles Barkley as "Pumpkinhead."
The guy's got pulp for brains.
This is what happens to great players when they don't win a ring. Their brain begins to go.
I bet he goes home and watches his finals defeats alone every night. Each and every night and mutters to himself, "Michael Jordan was the greatest player who ever lived, who ever WILL live. I only lost because of Jordan. How can I have expected to beat the greatest player of all time? I can't. I just can't. It was Jordan. Yeah, Jordan! I didn't really lose. I got to play against the greatest player of all time and I held my own. That's like winning! It's better than winning! It's better. It's like I have an invisible ring that no one else can see, but I know its there! Me.... and Jordan. Jordan knows its there too. Yeah... I got to play against the greatest player of all time and I held my own. I held my own. Yeah..."
He then goes upstairs from his basement and begins throwing darts at a picture of Kobe.
"You're no Jordan. What makes you think you're Jordan? I played against the greatest player of all time and I held my own! I held my own! Bullseye!"
Just another night at the Barkley Household.

barkley hates the Los Angeles Bryants and Kobe because they are the Lakers. He hates Kobe because He can't accept the fact that his best friend Michael Jordan will one day be surpassed by Kobe Bryant's Brillance and dominance. Here comes Kobe.
Barkley is a hater
Barkley listen to this:
Love me or hate me, It's one or the other. Unfortunately you are the other! FATHEAD!
Posted by: The Los Angeles Bryants | March 07, 2006 at 02:00 PM
that was a good one Jon...it certainly answers for his hatred of Kobe...if Kobe eclipses Jordan...then he just simply lost ....lol
hehe

WELCOME TO THE LIST OF THE BIGGEST KOBE HATERS:
CHARLES BARKLEY- WHENEVER THE LAKERS PLAY ON TNT, YOU WILL CONSTANTLY HEAR BARKLEY BARKING LIKE A DOG TOWARDS KOBE'S GAME AND HIS ABILITIES.
SCOTTIE PIPPEN- ALWAYS HATING ON KOBE AND THROWING IN ALL THE WORDS AS SOON AS HE GETS THE CHANCE TO.
VINCE CARTER- CANNOT ACCEPT KOBE'S 81 POINTS AND HIS AMAZING TALENT SINCE HE WILL NEVER BE CAPABLE OF GETTING NEAR KOBE'S GAME. DON'T BE ENVIOUS CARTER, IT'S OK.
Posted by: The Los Angeles Bryants | March 07, 2006 at 02:03 PM
Wrong,
You're missing the point, like the rest of the Kobe haters (yes it's obvious), "it would have been a blowout"?
I can say the same thing, if it wasn't for Manu's "pitch and chuck" in the 3rd and Finley's in the 4th we would have beat them.
Thats the way it is, the best team in the league got hot and we paid, period.
By the way who is "diminshing" what Finley did?
He got hot so did Manu, besides that we played great.
They had 12 three pointers to our 6. Now thats a 18 point difference, right? (I don't actually expect you to figure that out by the way)
Yet we only lost by 7,
Yes Kobe brought us back. He's the best player in the league thats what he does.
Now there is no way that you can honestly believe that the 3 pointers were the difference, if you do, then you're just not very smart....

anyone saw that guy in Minnesota? Where he claimed that Kevin Garnett "THREW" the ball at him onto the stand. Whenever the tape shows that Kevin toss the ball and it accidentally hit him. LOL, that guy was actually COUGHING because the ball was accidentally tossed at him. COME ON NOW, GHEEZ WHAT A F******* Pu$$y! PUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU$$Y! I wanna kick his A$$ for just for being a damn wuss.

Basketball is like a dance, you express yourself, the team that doesn't break it, is the team that ends up with it."

Another inertesting note:
Who would have guessed that the Lakers actually scored more "points in the paint".
Out rebounded them and had more fast break points too.
Good game guys,

I bet you all saw the ref's bias through out the game. I know, people will say that when one loses, ref will be blamed but see the replays and Kobe's feet were a few feet away from the line and the ref were only giving 2 points. Kobe did not even land inside the arc after the shots.. That is 3 points right there and if the ref had called it right, Kobe would have made a few more as he was pissed.
And what about Tony Parker losing his feet and LO getting a clean block but a flag. was called.
Management should make tapes and sent it to NBA like Cuban does.
Anyway, great game except for 3 rd lapse...

Jon Kavulic,
Good one! LOL!
Posted by: Butch James | March 07, 2006 at 03:24 PM
Jay,
Odom definetly fouled Tony on the play, it was all about the body contact (he got all ball with his hand), I agree that was no flagrant, though. What really pissed me off was that it took so long to knock him on his butt.
Even Stu Lantz said "in the old days" Tony would be limping off the court bringing it to the rack like that.

Jon K...
Great job with that Barkley piece... funny indeed... YUP... he is a fat pumpkin head kobe hater... i wish he never had saw that shaq punch coming (Lakers vs Suns)... he would have been clowned by many.... hahahahaha

damn one loss to the defending champions and we go from a possible run at the finals to trade rumors...what is it with all of you?..if they win you praise mitch for assebling a good team and you praise lamar and the rest of the players for they're great effort and start saying this team might be good enough to reach the finals, and if they loose all of a sudden you guys wanna fire mitch, trade players and are calling the lakers "the bryants"?, thats lame, where the real true laker fans at?...
Go Lakers...
Posted by: TrueLakerFan | March 07, 2006 at 03:48 PM
Wasn't it sweet watching Lamar simply pound Parker on that block in the fourth? That was simply awesome.

I have been joined by my assistant, Igor, who will look out for my well being while I have my visions. They are more and more likely to become reality with every loss.
Igor-yesss massster.
Nostradamus-To me Igor, the visions are rapidly approaching, like a 3 on 1 break with Kwame being the only "defender"
Igor-careful massster, tracherousss watersss you dwell in.
Nostradamus-I see...a below .500 record by week ends, hearts deflating all over Lakerdom...the Kings, THE FREAKIN' KINGS, overtaking our 8th spot...and also...No, it can't be. Mitch Cupcake giving our midlevel exception next year to Dennis Rodman.
Igor-oh the horror, the horror.
Posted by: Nostradamus | March 07, 2006 at 03:57 PM
according to my source...the referees are in the pocket of Shaquille O'Neil who are paying them to miss and intentionally affect the games of the Lakers in the hope that Kobe never gets to the playoffs...so Kobe won't win a championship before him
Ok it was a bad joke...but it was funny when I thought of it

Nostradamus,
Your visions are those of a madman! A madman, I say!
Back to the dark crypt from whence you came!
The golden light of Lakerdom will burn the dark stain of your existence from this world!
The Kings will never overtake us! Do you hear me? NEVER!
Posted by: Jon Kavulic | March 07, 2006 at 04:24 PM
Did Tim Duncan even get a bucket when Kwame was guarding him? I don't think he did.
As for the game in New Orleans, I heard the team is actually bummed about having to play there, OKC has been a legitimate home court advantage for that team all year, and chances are they won't even fill the arena in NO. anyway, we HAVE to win that game, that's for damn sure.
Posted by: Andrew Z | March 07, 2006 at 04:31 PM
you must be on crack.
Posted by: sylvain peltzer | March 07, 2006 at 04:33 PM
TrueLakerFan,
Who is asking for trades I haven't heard that all day?
Oh yeah, I've never heard anyone "prasie Mitch for assembling a good team" either.
"The Bryants" is pretty stupid though, I agree with you there.

Seriously!! Death to all Kobe Haters!! Keep it to yourself!! Do something uselful for once!! Get in your car and drive off a bridge.
Lakers played well last night!! Need to improve on defense

That would be sweet if the Lakers acquire Dennis Rodman, he's in great shape. Still works extremely hard like when he was in Chicago.

Some idiot here "ahem ahem cough cough *arthas*"
said that we should put Jim Jackson at POint guard is this guy a moron? lol Jim Jackson at Point? LOL yes, I know Ron Harper was a Point for the Bulls but he wasn't as build as Jim Jackson and he was more flexible and much faster. jim Jackson is more built and can defend at forward positions. No way he can be a point guard. That's gotta be the stupidest thing I've seen posted on this blog. Congratulations "arthas" lol!

I found it rather ironic that Pippen said no way Kobe could have scored 81 in his era because of more touchy rules about fouling on the perimeter, yet, YET Jordan himself said he thought he couldn't have scored 81 in this era because of the rule changes that now allow off the ball double teams.

i wasn't talking today in particular, it's been happening all season, although i wasn't suprised to see the first post on this thread to be that of trading lamar for marbury, kinda stupid though, it would be a disaster having marbury here.
Go Lakers...

Hey all:
I must confess I didn't watch the game last night. I listened to it. I'm not sure about the defensive rotations, so I won't say anything. I'll watch the next game on KCAL 9 and see for myself what is going on with the rotations. I still disagree with PJ thinking on Cook and Mihm as starters. Also, when Kwame is in there; why the double down? Let Kwame handle whatever big he's defending one on one. The man is techincally sound. If the likes of Tim Duncan scores a lot of points on Kwame; believe me he'll work his ass for it. If a guy like Tim Duncan scores a lot of points on Kwame; it'll because of perfect footwork and executions of low post moves. Over the course of a game he (Duncan) would tire from having to work so hard. If allowed to defend one on one; the other players would be able to stick with there assignments and prevent dribble penetration and the 3 ball from killing us. This way if the likes of Tim Duncan do score well; he would be the only one doing so and we would win for shutting down the rest of the players. Trust the low post defense of KBD (Kwame Brown Defense) and let KBO (Kobe Bryant Offense) kill them in the end.

Re: Pippen's comments: Since when did the 80's and early 90's turn in to the NBA's version of the dead-ball era? The era of Showtime, Bird, teams like Dallas, Denver, Phoenix who were all run-and-gunners, this was a tough time in NBA history to score? Kobe couldn't have put up 81 then? What does Pippen think Kobe could have had against the Westhead Nuggets? He might have had 81 in a half.
Posted by: Jman449 | March 07, 2006 at 07:20 PM
LISTEN UP FOLKS, I know the TRUE REASON why Pippen is a hater:
Because Kobe took it to him. Yes, that's right. Let's see if you basketball historians remember when pippen went to go play for the Rockets in 1999 joining who would've known MR.CHARLES I AM A HATER BARKLEY and Olajuwon (i cant be mad at the dream!). In that year's playoff series, Kobe took going at Pippen as a personal challenge defensively and offensively. Thus, the bad blood between the two really begins.
Then, we all remember Pippen's blazer years right? As much that was said about the so called Kobe-Stopper Mr. Patterson, Pippen was a driving force for that squad that almost made the finals if it wasnt for us Lakers. In large part due to Kobe's brilliance, the Lakers took what would have undoubtedly been the crowning achievement for Pippen: Reaching the finals WITHOUT Jordan. Scottie would no longer be the sidekick. No longer just a part of Jordan's shadow! Hey the Blazers probably would've beat the Pacers that year too.
So that's where the hate comes from (and for good measure Barkley is just mad at the world)! He knows Kobe got the better of him and he is still fuming on the inside. Now that Kobe is stepping out of Shaq's shadow for good, Scottie cant help but think what could have been and be mad at Kobe for helping to ruin his shot at a more revered position in the hallway of NBA history! So what does he do? Hate!
I see it in your eyes when you speak your hating words, and I know that you are still hurt by us smashing your opportunities. Heck, you are lucky that Jordan came back or you might forever be known as the MAN WHO QUIT ON HIS TEAM FOR SELFISH REASONS IN THE PLAYOFFS! Who remembers that? Who remembers Scottie refusing to play?!
It's OK Scottie, deep down you know that you and Kobe 1-on-1 would be trouble, trouble, trouble for you sir ...

PIPPEN is not a kobe hater. just to let you know, he's working with phill jackson and the rest of the lakers during practice and training.

go john... go true laker fan... go lakers
Posted by: ranter | March 08, 2006 at 06:37 AM
yeah I remebmer seeing kobe blocking pippen...I remember pippen taking shots at kobe years ago...Its just so unprofessional from him and barkley and jsut disapointing to see...unless theyve worked out the more they bash kobe the more interest they create...they are purposely trying to keep him bashed becasue well thats what has made him so interesting I mean love him or hate him everyones got a strong opinion...hows that for a conspiracy theory?
we should talk about the olympics theres some excellent kobe shaq possibilities can you imagine shaq playing (i really doubt he will) kobe shaq lamar wade lineup...
whats with this standing invitation to shaq..is that their way of saying ...please play but um yeah we asked kobe first if you can get over that your welcome?
what if he does play?...he wouldnt even shake his kobes hand a month or two ago...by the way did you see his locker room interview...real gracious bill russell told me to do it...i mean isnt it kind of dangerous? lets get payton and malone along and watch it get really interesting
kobe being the centrepiece and lamar only being added later after players decline ...thats weird isnt it,he played b4 and plays with kobe?
what if they had ditched kobe and had shaq, iverson, wade would that have been a better team? much as I love kobe...hes untested in international competition.Iverson ,Wade ,Shaq would have made more sense in some ways
whats with iverson not playing anyway seems like his leadership would have been useful...maybe he didnt want to and they letting him off the hook...whadya reckon?
Posted by: ranter | March 08, 2006 at 06:59 AM
You guys need to relax first of all I don't think Pippen is a Kobe-hater, he worked with the Lakers this Summer first of all and secondly not slurping Kobe up as the greatest ever isn't slurping. Kobe has yet to prove he's the best ever 81 or not.
Also when Pippen was talking about Jordan's era I think he was referring to the 90's when scoring was way down. Why do you think they changed a whole bunch of rules to get points up?
And as for Charles I do think that he doesnt like Kobe but is that a reason to take moronic shots at him. You guys act like he's taking personal shots at Kobe and Kobe is your own son or something. There's no reason why this should be a topic of conversation.
And before you guys label me a hater I just want to say I am a Kobe fan and have been since I was 9 years old. The sad thing is that at 19 i'm probably the youngest person on the blog telling grown men to well grow up!
Posted by: xodus | March 08, 2006 at 10:32 AM
Wow. Did I miss the kool-aid or something? Anybody who has a problem with any part of Kobe's game is a hater, and not a true Laker fan? All true Laker fans must adore Kobe Bryant? Does that extend to agreeing with every decision Phil makes? How about Mitch?
When did this thing turn into a cult? I'm with xodus, I think it's pretty sad too. LA's my team, I'll back them any way I want. I'm pretty sure I've been watching this team longer than most of you, and I think some of y'all need to get over yourselves.
Posted by: Michael A | March 08, 2006 at 11:15 AM
I think the issue with Barkley is that he was a Big (and now he's a very big Big,) so he naturally favors Shaq. He thinks Shaq was the main factor in the three championships. Shaq has been to the NBA finals and the Eastern conference championship without Kobe. Kobe hasn't made it to the playoffs without Shaq.
Of course, Kobe has only had one year so far without Shaq, so we will have to see what Kobe can do. That issue is not settled (and may never be.)
I think Kobe honestly believed he could win a championship by himself with 4 warm bodies, and was very surprised at what happened last year. The incredible confidence he has helps him at times and hurts him at others.
Anyhow, the Spurs are playing 4 games in 5 days. The Lakers go there on Friday after the Spurs are in Phoenix on Thursday, so it's a good opportunity, even if it's in San Antonio, to see what they can do in a rematch.
I don't think too much should be read into the 4th Q Monday night; that was garbage time.
Posted by: Keep It Real | March 08, 2006 at 12:25 PM
I agree with Michael A. I am a Lakers fan and I have the right to hate Kobe because I think he's been running the team into the ground.
