Sometimes I hate living on the east coast. I love Kobe Bryant and I miss the best game of his career?!! I guess I'm glad he decided not to play the 3rd quarter to avoid injury (Phil asked him if he wanted to go back in) but he easily would have broken every Laker scoring record. Anyone who wants to fight with me about Kobe being the best player in the league can step up now. I think this game gives Kobe a great shot at winning the MVP, but he'll have to lead us to the playoffs for him to get it (which he will) I just hope he does'nt get hosed by the people that vote.

How do you score 30 points in one quarter. That's just sick!!!! Think about it like this, last week Joe Johnson got a career high in points 33!!!! Joe Johnson's obviously not Kobe, but he's no slouch either. I been trying to wrap my mind around it all day but there's no way to fathom scoring 62 points in 3 quarters. IT'S JUST CRAZY

Kobe is a fluke. Can he put up atleast 30 against Spurs and Bowen or Prince and Pistons or Clippers and Elton Brand. Sure he will make 40+ on bobcats, Hawks, Dallas etc. Everyone knows that Dallas is a Fake team. They are just lucky and starting to fall.
CLIPPERS can stop LA fakers at any time anywhere. Did I say fakers? I meant Lakers. They are interchangeable anyways. Bid Daddy and DWade will Whup y'all Fakers.

Anyhow, Chris you are right about Tim Legler, I mean overall, he's a good broadcaster but I think he has personal problems with the Lakers. Greg Anthony bringing up the fact that the Lakers may make the Western Conference Finals this year, well sure, anybody can make the Western Conference Finals this year. But remember, we are not even half way through yet, so lets not count our chickens before they hatch. However, lets hope that the team stays healthy, Ronny comes back in great shape and makes an impact and that Ron Artest gets traded to the Hawks. Yes I said it, the Atlanta Hawks, because I feel sorry for those poor bastards!

The way the Lakers are playing right now, there are only 2 teams that could be the Lakers in a 7 game series in the West: Minnesota, San Antonio, and Phoenix. I'll take those odds.
Hopefully the Lakers will not look past Steve Franchise and the Magic. They need that win going into Shaq's (new) Place.
I may not know who will win the game (of course I want the Lakers to win) but here are a couple of things that will be sure to happen:
1. Shaq will foul Kobe anytime he gets the chance. As much as I want to see Kobe put Shaq on a poster, Shaq will end Kobe's career before he lets the man that ratted him out dunk on him (it's an undeniable truth that Shaq made known in last year's game).
2. Wade will come out to prove that he's just as good (or better) than Kobe.
2a. Isolation plays will be called for both Wade and Kobe to either prove or disprove number 2.
3. Miami will play a box and one zone on Kobe for most of the game (if they know what's good for them).
4. Bynum will get posterized by Shaq at least once.

Dallas is a hot team right now. The only team that they've lost to in the last 10 games is to the Lakers. The reason is because of the Laker defense. The Lakers have the 11th ranked defense in basketball right now. When they eventually get a full understanding of the triangle, they'll stop losing games like the one against Houston and start winning more consistently.
Are the Lakers better than the Clippers?
Talentwise, no they are quite inferior. But they are certainly doing very well with the talent they do have.
The Clippers have bonafide All-Stars in Cassell, Mobely, and Brand. And a future All-Star in Maggette. Despite the "this isn't the old Clippers" headlines voiced by the mass media, the truth is that this team has no excuses to be the "old Clippers" with that kind of lineup. Heck, they had no excuses to be the "old Clippers" when Brand, Maggette, and Q. Richardson starting.
The Lakers, early in the season, were not even predicted to vie for a playoff position. Yet they are now tied for seventh place and are only a game and a half behind the "new Clippers" in the standings.

I love how the Slippers FINALLY start winning some games and their fans come up from the dead and start beating their chests. Slipper the Great: It's not how you start off it's how you finish. I guarantee the Clippers will suck as they usually do by season's end and the Staples Center will send you all back to the sports arena(something they wanted to do anyway). They make more money selling Usher's concert tickets than they do in Slippers season tickets. I can understand why they need to get rid of your lame organization, that has never seen a championship.....and never will. Oh I know, Sam Cassell will put the Slippers on his back and win it all for you.......Keep dreaming. Lakers till the world blows up!!!!!

I wanted to comment on Chris opinion of that Legler guys thoughts on Kobe and the Lakers. I also find it funny how these guys seem to always have a "but" when it refers to Kobe and the Lakers. Truth is, it is not just Legler, it's Charles Barkley, the greater media along with all of the other Shaq cronies. I almost hate to watch sports stations when the NBA commentators come on. It's almost never positive and filled with disdain. They hate Kobe because they could never be Kobe. PERIOD. All the teams in the league have been put on notice and they know it. Why do you think Phil came back? He knew back then as he knows right now how good this kid is. That's the very reason why they hate us. Oh yeh, did'nt the Clips loose again last night? GO CLIPPERS!

I love the Kobe haters. I checked ESPN site and on the day Kobe scores 62 points they have two insider articles whose titles are "Hollinger: Kobe, the ball-hoggin'est player in history" and "Karabell: Kobe overrated?" Sorry i didn't read the articles. i ain't paying anybody for their opinions. Even on James Brown radion show, they talk about kobe shotting too much. Don't get me started on haters; Legler, Barkley, Kenny Smith and their open disgust of Kobe.
Look at Kobe's december stats. Kobe had 4 games where he attempted over 30 shots. Lakers win all 4 games. The only three losses in December Kobe attempts only 16, 20, and 13. Numbers speak louder than words. Right now Kobe is playing the best ball of his career. For the most part, excluding yesterday, Kobe has been playing team ball. Watch Kobe rapport with his team. They love him. lets hope the media stops the Kobe bashing.
It seems the best way to shut the LA media up is for Kobe to have an amazing game. Where is JA Adande, TJ Simers, and all those other Kobe critics. I think that why I like Dave Smith.
By the way I'd hate to be Orlando and Miami right about now. Imagine trying to review this game and try to prepare to defend Kobe.

bynum wont play against miami on christmas. Phills not dumb enought to do that. Play youngster against two of the most powerful veteran centers the league has ever seen? i think not. shaq and zo are amazing... bynum wont play. and if he does, i agree he will get rocked.
as for kobe vs dwayne.. well kobe might come out firing, and may explode, or may miss quiet a few shots. i expect alot of shot attempts. yea he has an ego and is competitive lets face it. As for dwayne.... i dont think he'll do much, hes going to come out and have a silent 20 or so points. Lakers can contain him. i dont think he'll have an explosive game. of course that depends on who phill decides to put on him.
As for shaq, we'll give him his 25 points or so... and yes we all know he wont let kobe dunk on him. Its kindof impossible to jump over a brick wall like that. but who knows, Kobe has proven that impossible is nothing (sory to spin off of the nike logo or whatever brand it is.)
i hope the lakers will win. But miami is a better team right now, more consistent, more talent, more powerful, more experienced and everything. Great coach too. I hope ego's dont disrupt the game too much.

I wouldn't be surprised if Phil unleashes Drew into the game.
No offense to Kwame or Chris, but Drew has so far been the better defensive presence in the paint, he even blocked Tim Duncan's shot. The only reason he isn't playing is because he lacks experience. Phil can afford to play Kwame and Chris against teams like Dallas, Memphis, Houston, and small Eastern Conference teams that have no real big men (Yao Ming was unavailable in the Houston game) to match up against. Drew will definitely play. Whether it's a starting role or bench role will remain to be seen.
And even if Phil didn't want to play him, Chris Mihm's penchant for picking up fouls may force him to play Drew anyway.

Prediction: Kobe WILL dunk on Shaq at this year's game. You know he really wanted to do it last year.
I watched both the New Jersey and Indiana vs. Clippers games. Wow, those Clippers are getting their *ss handed to them right now.
Mark your calendars boys and girls...January 7th, Clippers vs. Lakers. Expect the Clippers to be handing over that seventh seed (if they can even last til then. With any luck and Phoenix sucking, it'll be a #2 seed.

Bresnahan isn't as transparent as Adande & Plaschke, but don't be fooled. He is anti-Kobe too. As a matter of fact, from top to bottom, editors to columnists to reporters, the entire latimes are biased against Kobe. Remember the case coverage? The story about Vanessa? It seems the whole paper is under Shaq's payroll. Tim Brown & Heisler isn't much better. It's very disgusting & pathetic.
Hartman is an idiot. He keeps talking about no assist in this historic game. Can't haters enjoy an incredible game from a great player just for once?

I feel you on that Barkley point!!! I think it may have something to do with Kobe's father or something! Maybe Jellybean stole a groupie from Charles or something! (Don't know if they actually played together but I'm trying to find a reason) Legler was never anything great in the game but with Barkley its another story!! He speaks of Kobe as if he's a throw in player & not an elite player in the league!!! He bashes the Lakers in general but loves the Billups' & Ginobli's of the world!!!
I love when the Lakers are on TNT & win a game because its actual comedy to watch INSIDE THE NBA ON TNT afterwards & watch Sir Charles spend an entire half hour without saying "one" positive thing about Kobe & the Lakers!!! But for all you Laker fans there is a way for us to get revenge....watch TNT on their first playoff telecast of the season. Every season they have a segment where Ernie will ask the panel about winning a championship & watching Charles just sit there & stew while Kenny Smith goes on & on about his Houston Rockets days & Magic talk about the great Laker teams IS WORTH ALL HIS LAKER BASHING!! Its the most you'll ever see Charles Barkley with his mouth shut!!!
And to Clipper Fan,
You play in the LAKERS building!!! The seats at Staples are purple!!! Clippers game don't even have valet parking at their games (in LA, YOU KNOW THATS BUDGET)!!! You are the second banana to the Lakers now & forever!!!! And those footsteps you hear are the Lakers eeking up the standings while you start your annual decent into mediocrity!!!
